Thanks boys!

Won $550 yesterday, played two super interesting hands...

Uncle Pete opens CO, BTN calls, we sqz 9s9d in SB to 150, only Pete calls. I x 258ccx flop because he will never ever check any 1pair hand here, and this is the guy that loves to just jam flops for 5x pot etc. Really like my check here vs THIS SPECIFIC VILLAIN. He xb and turn is 9x. I thought long about it and decided to lead. His A6/A7/K6/K7/QT/QJ/JT etc etc etc combos pick up equity. He calls. River is 3x and I shove for about 1.2x pot. He snaps me off w 64s

Second hand is a weird one. There's a reg in the games, probs in his 40s, really nice guy, plays super aggro pre, takes some funky lines, and he's a fkn 10/10 guy, super nice dude. Anyway he limps utg, regfish makes it 45, I flat BTN w AsQd, the dude in question limp/raises to 220. Folds to me and I flat. I had an urge to just drill it pre and just win it there but I think in hindsight I'm being results orientated (spoiler alert). Flop is AhKhTx. He bets 125 into approx 500, I call. Turn is Jh. He bets around 400 and leaves himself with 500. I jam (which I think is fine) and he calls and has T8hh for the extreme puke spot.

Lost like 3 big big pots yesterday, and won a whole bunch of smaller ones. Running pretty gruesome at the moment, but I am taking it well and putting the hours in! If I can get one fairly decent session in in the next few days $ wise I think I'll fly home on Tuesday. If not I'll stick it out for one more week!

I've just taken the worst beat of the trip. No no, the worst beat of the year. NO NO, the worst beat of my life...

UTG opens to 40, I 3bet SB w JJ, BB whale cold calls, and UTG calls. Flop is AA8. Xs round. Turn is another ace. I ****in scream "CHECK!" and it checks round. River is a deuce and I check again and the whale donks for 300. UTG tanks for a minute and I'm like AAAHHHHHHHGGGHHHHHH. UTG eventually folds and I snap it off and he goes "what you have?!" He literally asked that after betting the river 10 mins ago with a super strong hand. I tell him jacks and he goes "queen high" and mucks and the $42k bad beat jackpot dream dies there and then.

Spoiler:
actually so </3 right now haha

To lose to quad aces with aces full of queens wins you the jackpot which woulda been 42k. That’s a monumental bad beat tbf

Ben's right but it's aces full of tens so it would've been a jackpot!

Haha I know in hindsight but in game I was buzzing coz I thought we had a fkn jackpot!

Another 14 hour grind yesterday with me just being in the hole for most of it and finally getting out of it at the end. Also shout out the the 108s reg above, yesterday the first thing he said to me was "you think I'm in my 40s huh?!" I had no idea he read this thread! Also shoutout to Evan, hope you're doing well man, will no doubt see you back destroying 5/10 when I come back to LA next year

Had three jackpot sweats yesterday, the above hand was the closest I personally got. Another one was a semi-sweat, weird weird hand. So fish opens UTG, reg flats +1 w KK, I squeeze +2 w AA, folds back to reg who finds the double flat (thank **** in hindsight). Flop is K73cxx, I cbet 1/3, he flats. Turn is Kx. He checks, I bet 380 and he calls. River bricks off and I think I should jam here but in hindsight he's quite good and won't hero much so I x/b. If the river had been an ace it woulda been jackpot!

Next sweat wasn't me but it was absolutely ridiculous. Scottish guy who now lives in LA opens TT, whale flats SB and the board runs out AA64A. Can't remember the action but the whale bets the river, and Scottish reg snaps him off. The whale shows an ace, and the Scottish guy excitedly asks for his kicker (both hole cards have to play) and the whale excruciatingly turns over a ****ing three for extreme devastation for the table!

Big hand to get me out the hole after a long grind. I open CO w QTsx, btn bad reg calls, BB really really tight but pretty good Asian reg calls. Flop is Js8s5x. I cbet 75, and the nitreg raises to 200. I call and ask in my head for a red nine. Turn is only the 9 of fockin diamonds. He bets 380 and I give it the sneak peel. River is 7x to complete a bunch of straights. He checks and I shove like 1600 and he calls and we are finally out the ****ing hole for the day!

No messing about, right back at it today.

PS Husker you are banned from this thread from a few days. Pls have mercy.

Edit - saw the well known Instagram poker player "winopoker" at the Commerce yesterday. I think I'm in love boys.

gazzy was understandably emotional after missing out on the 42k jackpot. he said "man! i thought we had it! we were so close! all they needed was just one ace!"

the dealer said calmly and condescendingly "psh, no way they had it. they checked back the flop and the turn. no way"

gazzy said "oh, pardon me. i didn't realize you were phil ivey"

Not much to update, booked my fight home for this coming Monday but have hit the wall a wee bit, I honestly don't think I'll go in and play any more poker this trip. Can't bluddy wait to get back to London! Have had a really good trip poker wise and life wise, maybe I'll get in a few more sessions before I go home, we shall see

Got back to the grind last night, waste of time sitting around. I take my old beaten up laptop with me when I come to USA for one reason, and one reason only; it has Football Manager 2007 installed on it and for the past couple of years I have been playing a long running game on it, we're now in the year 2032 and Motherwell are winning everything in sight. Played it non stop for past couple of days and decided I am gonna get back to the grind. Wanted to "lock up my profits" which is of course a weak mentality to have, one long grind etc.

No real hands of note last night, apart from one fun spot. There's a super aggro pre American reg in the games who folds if you put him under it and he's OOP. So last night he 3bets CO vs a fish, I cold 4b A7s to 365 on BTN and one of the blinds jams for like 570 total. I ofc sigh call for the other 200 and the board runs out T64KJ and he tables AQ and I obv save face by going "OH MY GOD! WOW, WHAT A RUNOUT... YEAH YOU GOT IT, DAMN, NICE HAND OH MY GOD THAT'S SO SICK" hahahahaha. Gotta save that face boys.

Also had a really weird spot last night. There's an Asian American nitrec that plays in the game. I was S1 and he was S2 and he was suuuper friendly all night with me, lots of banter and it was good times. He then gets it in w TT vs AT on AT3A and instantly goes on life tilt and just sits there saying "****ing biiiiitch" every time he folds a hand. Like every time. Eventually he expands on "****ing *****" to "**** sake dealer you ****ing *****" and basically he had just been calling the dealer a ****ing ***** for the last hour without us realising. Anyway he reloads his last 500 (I sold him the chips) and we get it in and I have JJ and he has AA and I ping a J ott and he shoves all his chips into the middle and goes "thanks a lot dealer you ****ing *****" and storms away. Was so uncomfortable. I normally stand up for the dealers all the time but last night I didn't say anything because he was leaving so felt it wasn't necessary to needle him.

Anyway locked up a nice $1300 win and back to it today. Ppl will be busting the 1k so games should be popppppppppppppppping off.

Gazzy, what's your thoughts on Robinson these days? Seems like some are thinking his time is up.

I like him, and think he deserves a bit more time. He's got to change the way we play though, the long ball tactic is just turgid to watch. I think he'll be gone by the end of the season though, you know how it is these days.

A few weeks ago I played with the biggest fun player I've ever played with, he had 100% vpip and the minimum raise was 100. That night I won about 6k iirc. The next night he showed up and I lost around 9k I think it was. Well he rocked up last night and I was down 2k at that point. I ended the night -7500. I am happy with pretty much every hand I played, and there were some fun ones along the way. I'll refer to him as "Dave", and I will try remember as many as I can...

FIRST ****ING HAND, I open UTG to 75 w KK, he calls SB. Flop is 222. Deuce. Deuce. ****ing deuce. Spoiler alert he has 42o. I cbet half pot OTF, he calls. Turn is a 9 and I bomb it, he calls. River is a jack and he donk jams and there's legit nothing we can do. Nh bro.

Ok so this is a super weird spot. MP opens to 50, some unknown reg has called in HJ, Dave makes it 105 on the btn (srs), SB calls, I look down at 88 and figure it's better to see a flop 5 ways here than raise to 600. Opener calls, HJ then makes it 700. Dave says "**** you I'm gonna call you" and calls. Me and HJ are approx 3200 deep, and Dave has around 2k. Dave never ever ever has a premium here, and doesn't make it 105 pre w 9s-Js. The HJ has 3bet me a few times and shown premium hands, even with Dave still to act (i.e. he isn't flatting strong hands to keep Dave in). He's also jammed 1500 into 2k OTR w 56ds on K73Q2 after cold calling a big 3b pre and a large flop cbet. If he perceives there to be 500 worth of dead money out there pre he can do this with a bunch of stuff. I jam it in. He eventually calls and Dave folds. He has QQ and the river is a fkn 9 for the sickest "nearly". Sigh, reload. Again it's super high variance but I'm happy with my line here. Happy to hear thoughts.

Dave opens to 150 in CO, I make it 500 SB w AKo, he calls, flop is J22r and with SPR1 I shove flop and he has 42o again lolololol kill me

Dave opens to 150, I make it 400 IP w QJo, he calls. Flop is T97 and I jam again with SPR1 and he calls. I instantly table my hand and it runs out brick brick and he obv hasn't seen my hand so sighs and says "I missed" and shows K8o and is looking at me angrily as if to say "turn over ur fkn hand". I motion to my QJo that is already turned over and he legit looks at the board and my hand and the board and my hand and is like oh send it.

Earlier in the night he opens to 50 in CO, I peel Ac8s in SB (should maybe 3b but it's whatever). Flop is A99ssx, x/x. Turn is 5x and he bets 100 out of turn, I'm like k whatever just call. River 7s and he bets 500. I take a couple of mins and eventually call. He turns over 5s and his eyes widen as if to say "good?" I know what's coming and after 10 secs he turns over 10s and I have to laugh it off and be like yeah nhnh.

Watched this dude spray every $ he won off me across the table all night until he left. Super gutting, but all trip I've maintained that if I'm happy with my line then it doesn't matter. I was happy with every line I took last night (bar one or two marginal peels), so no ragrets today

Spoiler:

Flying home in 48 hours. Think I'm done with poker for the trip, a shame to bow out on the trip this way poker wise, but hey ho

Edit - there's a fairly well known reg, lovely dude, but very tight and known for his tightness. Even Dave knows how tight he is. So he sits down in our game and Dave is like "if this guy folds 3 hands in a row I'm outta here guys." The well known reg sits with sunglasses on, not speaking and folds first two hands. Third hand is being dealt and Dave says "ok guys if he folds this hand I'm outta here, you gotta give action to get action." Reg pipes up with "what so I'm not allowed to play the hands I wanna play?!" and folds (!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Dave is like **** this I'm done and it was only another reg at the table who is super pally with Dave defusing the situation that saved the game. I absolutely love the reg in question, he's a super nice guy, and I'm not even saying that because there's a small chance he reads this thread, but my God I woulda been tilted if the game broke. You gotta keep these ppl happy. If that were me I woulda done a blind 100 or some **** just to keep this dude (who loses 10k playing 5/10 when he comes in) happy!

I think about this a lot...the setup hands in live poker are so ****ing weird. Like I can go 25k hands at micro whatever and not see something like this...but him having 42 and you having KK is just so standard for live.

The rational part of me says when 10 people are 100% vpip’in you are gonna see some weird stuff. The irrational part of me says that live is rigged.
