Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

Well well well look who it is MR. TzurrR back at it for what will likely in yet again in disaster I'm sorry I did not update this thread when i stopped playing but at the time i had more pressing things to worry about. As i mentioned before in this thread I struggle with Anxiety/Depression disorders and they have not been nice to me lately. Well in the past 8 months anyhow...

I last left off talking about grinding tournaments on Bovada and that is still the plan. I tried to get back into it too soon and my panic attacks relapsed. These attacks aren't due entirely to poker by any means but poker was a trigger. The last month or so I have been more stable than I have since this all began around 9 months ago. I'm finally free of medications and psychiatrists and feeling dare i say it back to 100. I want to be honest with this blog and so i won't say the depression is cleared but the anxiety is all but gone(knock on wood) and therefore I am ready to get back into the swing of things.

I am just now updating this blog but I've been playing poker since about a month ago. Grinding tournaments on both Bovada and ACR. The last i updated my roll we were at $1119 but we lost a couple hundred before i stopped playing so we were actually at more like $950 when we started back up.

SOOOO now onto poker. The first few weeks of grinding were brutal. I was getting back into playing after being out of the game awhile and on top of that we weren't running too hot. We were getting into great spots deep and losing massive flips. For those of you who play tournies you know the structure gets super shallow towards the end on Bovada so you are going to have to win some big flips and we just weren't doing that. After about 3 weeks we found ourselves down to out final $350 and with limited tourney options on Bovada we couldn't play lower stakes and things were looking slim.

As i was getting myself ready to re-deposit so we could be sufficiently rolled for $10 and under tourney's we hit a variance uptick...and in a BIG way! Big for me anyhow. We sattied into the nightly 25k GTD on Bovada for $7.70 and then went on to win it for $6150! Talk about a bankroll saver! That same night we also took down a 1k GTD for $420! Just like that we were back in the game. We quickly withdrew 4k for life purposes but left the remaining $2700 on for the bankroll to allow us to play all the $20 and under tourneys with some $25s and $30s sprinkled in! We also transfer $500 over onto ACR to give us a little more volume at the lower stakes.

3 days ago we had our first ACR trophy in a $6.60 r/a 2k GTD for $550 which helps our roll on there to be a little more healthy.

That takes us to now! Spring semester just started and I'm taking a few time draining courses such as Human Anatomy. But with the way my schedule worked out I will be grinding the afternoon schedule on Mon and Wens and then the normal nightly schedule on Fri, Sat, and Sun.

That is all folks! There is a chance i will be streaming from time to time on my twitch channel Twitch.tv/TzurrR once i get my new computer which will be arriving hopefully sometime this week! Other than that, as always, may the grind treat you with kindness and understaind, Nah Imagine???!!!

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

1/17/2018

Don't have a whole lot of time tonight but wanted to stop by and do a quick update on the grind and poker related things.

Had a pretty solid day today grinding the noon schedule on Bovada and ACR. Ran deep in several different tables and ended up with 3 final tables for the day coming in 4th,4th, and 3rd. Obviously this is not the optimal outcome as i would have liked to take home at least one trophy but aside from a couple bad bluffs in the $22 6-max(which we took 4th in) i think i played very well today. Another 4th came from the ACR $11 4k gtd. I ran really bad at around 15 players left. 1 hand we had 99 in MP and raised 2.2 and got a flat from a 10BB stack in the CO. The flop came 662 and i bet about 40% and he jammed it in. It was a little cringe because he had very tight stats but obviously we are never folding here. He shows 44 and then binks a 4 right on the turn. This pot would have given me chip lead by about 100k...

Then about 10ish hands later after we'd chiped back up i raised AQo UTG+1 and was got jammed on by the Button who had 15BB. We called and he showed AJ and of course binked a J straight away on the flop. That was yet again a chance for chip lead. So we lost in some pretty high equity spots as a big favorite but still was able to make it to the FB and later to 4th where we 3-bet jammed big stacks open with 66 in the SB for 16BB and lost to A10o.

But probably the most disgusting beat of the day was when we were 3 left in the $16.50 $5 KO on Bovada. We were all about even stacked and i managed to get it all in pre with AA. The dream right? Well villian had QQ. Sick beat i thought, to bad for him. Until the ****in slut hit on the river...This was not only unfortunate because we were such a favorite to go into HU 2to1 advantage but the player i would be playing HU was a huge passive nit. I raised EVERY button 3 handed MIN bet and he maybe defended his BB ONCE. Winning with AA would have essentially locked up the trophy. But what can you do?

Still ended the day with a nice $550 in profit. It's days like these where i think if i can run this terribly and still make money then there is no end to the possibilities! All in all in the tournaments we are up about $6.7K Between the two sites. I won't be grinding tomorrow as i have school until the late hours of the day. But I will be back at it Friday for the night grind!

BTW our new computer is scheduled to come tomorrow by end of day so hopefully there will be no delays and we can be up and streaming some tournament this weekend! For those of you interested the computer i got is a Alienware Aurora 6 desktop. I7 7700 with 16G ram and 1080 graphics cards. I will post a picture of the new rig and grind station once it is all setup. I'm pretty excited to have 3 monitors up and running! Also got the corsair keyboard which is sick! Picture soon to come!

Until then, as always, may the grind treat you with kindness and understanding. Nah, Imagine?!!!!

I had my thyroid checked when i was in the hospital the first couple times around before i knew it was just panic attacks. Funny you mention Vit-D i was just looking into that today and think i'll order some. People say it can help a lot especially in the winter months when you don't get much sun. My fathers side unfortunately has a lot of mental health issues as well as one of my siblings has Major Depressive Disorder and far worse than I. Thanks for the input

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

Thought I'd drop in right quick to update on how the grind is going. Played some cash over the weekend and last ~$400. There were two huge whales at the table that were playing horrendous like ive never seen but after the lucked out for a few buy ins i had to call it quits. I think i'll stay away from cash for a while it is so much more tilting to me i prefer the chill grind of tourneys which was the plan anyways.

School has been a ***** with human anatomy being time consuming as hell in particular so i've only been able to get two grinds in since last update. First day i had a short session because my parents came to visit and lost ~$200. Today we managed to pull a $475 profit and that is with ACR crashing and us blinding out of like 4 tournies. We were also 5/50 in a 4k and then only got refunded our buy-in. But took 2nd in a 500gtd and 2nd in the $22 2.5k GTD both on Bovada.

I really want to do some studying in the near future it's just hard with school and the classes i'm taking requiring so much studying. I only have enough time to grind. I'm going to try and move my schedule around and get at least 1 session of studying per week. I think i'll try the upswing poker lab i've heard good things about them. I don't think it really matters i'm sure i can learn alot from any of the websites. I just like the structure of upswing as oppose to the sites that just have loads of videos.

I may or may not stream my tourney grind this weekend but if i do it'll be on my twitch channel TzurrR. Drop by and say hello! For now i'll bid you a due and wish for you that the tables treat you with kindness and understanding. Nah, Imagine?!

Congrats on the ACR score dude. Keep up good bankroll management, with smart shot taking and you should be able to run it up big.

Nice set up too by the way. I'm working with 2 monitors but your 3 screen set up has me thinking...This is off topic but I noticed the first couple pics you tried to post are black boxes, then you got the 3 monitors pic. I tried posting a pic through imagebucket I think and got the same black boxes. What'd you do to get it posted?

Thanks man! ACR is such a struggle for me for some reason so it deff felt good to take one down. Ive been running deeper in them more recently so i know another score is soon to come! I think it just took some time getting use to the player pool you know? idk maybe the fields are a bit tuffer as well.

I was working with two monitors for some time and i deff am LOVING the third. Now i can have two screens save just for tables and the third for the poker client and lobbies and twitch/netflix on the side Also having them up on the monitor holder is amazing i have sooo much table room now and it just feels cleaner you know?

As for the picture i used a site call TinyPic.com and that ended up working for me! I had a look see at your thread, looks fun! I subbed and look forward to watching your progress!

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

Wow i can't believe it's been two weeks since i last updated the blog! Well there really isn't much to talk about since i was last on here as i havn't been able to get around to playing very much. Probably only had like 4 sessions or so since that last update. My classes this semester have kept me really busy! As well as i have discovered the game fortnite and it is beyond fun!

So i'm not gonna lie ive been having a very difficult time trying to get motivated to play poker. I feel like the days i do feel like playing that motivation fades like only 2-3 hours into my session and then i don't end up regging a full session! I don't know what it is but it is a cycle that i have always seemed to go through. I just don't keep interested for very long in anything!

I also think it has to do with the fact that i feel like i've been playing sub par. There are still alot of spots i get myself into where i don't know what the play is. I feel un confident in my game right. I'm about break even maybe down slightly since my 6k score a few weeks ago. So i know it could be worse but again i feel like there are a lot of spots where i don't know what to do and that makes me not feel like playing poker.

So what does this mean? It means i need to do more studying lol. I want to get more studying in before playing too much more. I don't want to be in more than a few spots a day where i don't know what the optimal play is. I just don't know when i am going to find the time! My classes right now, mainly human anatomy are taking up so much study time and it is only getting worse as we move into the muscles and there attachments and such. I also go to the gym and need to make time for that. I havn't been going as much lately and feel i am losing some of the hard work i put in last semester. Or rather i KNOW i am losing some of the hard work and certainly losing some of the gains.

So i am going to make up a weekly schedule to try and fit everything i want to do in. I know schedules are hard to follow because who wants to feel like they don't have a choice of what they are going to do next. I will keep it flexible but at least give me the eas of mind that i am going to get in everything i want to get done. I may switch somet hings around from time to time but i think it will be extremely helpful and set my mind at ease a little.

Until next time, may the grind treat you with kindness and understanding. Nah, imagine!!??

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

What's good poker peeps! It's been 3 months since the last time i updated the BLOG!!!! wtf mayne my B. Well not much has changed to be honest. In my last blog post i talked about how i was having trouble finding the motivation to play and then i ended up not playing after that. I took all my money off except $900 just in case i ever wanted to play again. Well about two weeks ago i started getting the itch to play.

About a month ago i started dating a new girl and as a result i have much less time to spend on poker. It's especially hard since she works on the week days and the weekends are the only time we can hang out and do something legitimate. So i've decided to give up tournies and get back into cash.

Only problem with this plan is that i am not good enough. Tournies i can turn a profit with patience but cash is much tuffer. But I want to continue to play poker and make a little extra spending money without spending 8 hours playing tounries. Cash will give me the freedom to play an hour here and there. So to improve my game i purchased the upswing poker lab. I'm about half way through the first lab.

Those of you who are fimiliar with this lab it is pretty basic at first and then gets into more advnaced topics so i've not really learned anything but it is nice to freshin up on some things. I am excited to get into the meat of it a little later. I've also been grinding 50nl with not so good results. I will post my graph shortly but to sum it up i am down about $350 over the first 14k hands. I feel like i've gotten better since i first started grinding and my redline is deffinently improving.

I've also ran pretty ****. I'm currenlty running 10.5 buyins under EV so....FUN!! But it's ok I'm not desperate for the money i just want to improve and i genuinely feel like i am. In the first week my redline was basically keeping up with my blue line. Now the redline is looking breakeven or a little down which is a huge improvement and it's just been about having a game plan with my hands and how i want to play them against opponents range. I'm learning more x/r spots oop and also which boards to double barrel on IP.

Also i've decided to switch from zone poker to regular speed tables. I don't see as many hands but people in zone play better. Also they play much tighter and when you consider that along with the fact that the rake is so high and you're seeing tuns of hands you're just gonna get eatin alive with the rake. I feel like i'll be able to have a better winrate at regular speed tables.

Anyhow I stream most my sessions on Twitch.tv/TzurrR so if you want to come by and say hi i would be more than grateful! I'm not trying to build a stream or anything i just like to have a couple people hanging out and chatting to make the grind more exciting.

Until next time, may the grind treat you with kindness and understanding. Nah, Imagine!!???!!???

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

Quick Update on last nights grind. +$345. The session started off bad and we were down about $160. Got AA's in against QQ pre for 100bbs and lost. Also jammed 33 on 358r against KK and he runner runner flushed for 100bbs. Then played a few pots poorly and had some bluffs/call downs that didn't work out.

The night saver was essentially one CRAZY table where 3 different players where 3-betting enormous everyhand. One player had $250 stack god knows how and the other two $150+. We picked up big hands and then literally just 20x'd it pre and after a few hours we were sitting on a $450 stack. NOT BAD!

We are now officially a winning player over the first ~17k hands by about $25 LOL That being said we are now running ruffly 11-12 buyins under EV so i'm very proud of myself for keeping a lvl head and grinding though regardless. AND studying the whole time too! I feel like we have improved and i believe the redline is showing that! We are losing too much in the Blinds (due to running below EV as well) and also could improve out winrate on the button!

I'm excited to be finally grinding for profit instead of make up and feel like just from a few weeks ago our game has improved drastically. Will be on grinding tonight on twitch if you care to join at Twitch.tv/TzurrR.

Hope to see you then!

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

Hello everyone it's been about a week since my last update. Poker has been going well finally after running nearly 10 buyins under EV for the first 15k hands at 50NL. We are now at a little over 20k hands but all you can see in the graph is the hands from bovada because i can't track my global hands. Btw i through a piece of my roll onto Global so that i could 6 table reg speed tables and get more hands in. So far we are up $386 on Bovada and $140 on Global for a total of $526 profit at 50nl. Winrate so far is +4.06BB/100 (Goal is 4.5). Although ajusted we are at +8.47bb/100.

Here is the graph for the first ~20k hands. (not including Global).

I have been going through the upswing poker course and am about half way through it now. I feel like my game has improved alot from a mixture of the course and also getting back into the swing of cash after a long hiatus from poker in general and cash even more so.

Here is a graph of the last 4k hands. I feel like we are playing tremendously better and our red line shows our increased understanding of board textures and where to earn a few extra BBs.

Below is results by position overall first ~20k hands.

Thanks for stopping by all. I've been streaming every session on Twitch.tv/TzurrR. Come say hi!

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

Hey all! I've played a few sessions since my last update and have been doing pretty well. That is up until yesterday and today. I'm awfully punty these last couple of days and i'm not sure why. I can't tell if it's because i'm getting into a lot of 3-barrel bluff spots or if i'm just being an idiot.

Anyhow since last update i'm down about $80 on Bovada and up about $290 on Global. Could be much better if not for some serious punts yesterday and a few today as well. I think i'm trying to get too creative and should go back to my core game until i learn more in study.

Hope everyone is running well at the tables. GL!

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

Had a very ruff session yesterday down about 4 buy-ins. We deffo punted in a few spots that in review later found to be completely horrific. Wasn't gonna grind today but woke up feeling pretty good and watched a bit of Nueron, the twitch streamer and he was talking about mental game and how he feels one of his biggest edges is his mental game and consistent application of his strategy despite variance.

So did some meditation and got on today and settled back down into my base play, not trying to get tricky and leaning towards giving players credit on their river bets. Up 2 buyins this morning and will play one more session after a nice run.

I'll be with the girlfriend tonight so no night session just reggy daytime play, but good for improvement! Alright guys see you next time!

1.5hr session up another $100. Had a hand where button raised and i 3-bet from the SB with 10jcc. Flop was 3 club and board bricked out perfectly. Got it in and he had A7cc. Standard cooler and it's nice that the beats don't effect me as much anymore. Really feel like i'm getting a good grasp on my mental game. Also had a good river check jamm bluff with the nut flush blocker against one of the regs on global. Feelsgoodman

Another session in the morning! Good night gents!

Re: Grinding Online Poker Can't be Worse than Min Wage Right?!?!?!?

2X 1.5 hour sessions today. Overall up ~$65. Ridiculous hand today at 50NL. 150bb effective Spewy villian opens $1.50 UTG and i 3-bet to $5 86cc on the button. Villian calls and we flop gutshot to the straight and flush draw on Ac7c10s board. I C-bet 1/3($3.75) and villian calls. Turn is a 8 of hearts. Pot is ~$19 I bet 3/4 pot (~$12) on turn and villian check raises to $24. Villin repping 3 combos of 1010, 3 combos of 77. I think these hands 3-bet flop but maybe not. I jamm(maybe this is just a call?) villian tanks and calls the remaining $42 more. FLips over JQo and hits Js on river and scoops. FML

Anyways a winning day nonetheless. I'm thinking of taking an aggressive shot this weekend at 100nl probably 3 tables on global and stay 50nl 3 tables on iggy. My roll is $1500 so my stop loss would be 1k which is essentially where we started. The rake is too high at 50nl and aggressive shot takes make sense IMO. We've already paid $1331 in rake on bovada alone. Whether we shot take will depend on how we run tonight and tomorrow during the day.

GL to all you grinders out there!
