After a few years away from the tables I decided to take another shot at poker.

The Past

I started playing poker in 2006 with a nice little 5$ no-deposit bonus i got on a small site. I had no idea of bankrollmanagement back then, but ran lucky and managed to build everything up from that bonus.
(well.. ok I first blew 50$ on party, but let's forget about that )

In short my poker"career" looked like this: fullring sngs up to 10$ >> break from poker >> fullring cash up to NL50 >> break >> multitabling 10-24 tbls up to NL25 >> break >> 6max up to NL25 >> long break

I always managed to make money with my main game. Problem was, when I realized that I was able to beat the limit I was playing, I got bored of grinding the br for the next limit. I then took shots way too early and/or blew money on mtts, hu or 6max (when I didn't yet know how to play it).

That brings me to..
The Future

I am 10 tabling NL50 or above with >20$/hr.

Ok.. I forgot..
The Present

I only got about 70$ left on stars, which will have to do for now. As I have no idea how though the games have gotten since I stopped playing, I'm going to start right at the bottom with NL2 (fullring since this has been my best game in the past).
I plan to move up to NL5 and NL10 as soon as I'm confident I haven't forgotten everything in the last 3 years.

Hopefully this thread will help me focus on putting in the volume in the right games. I will keep it updated with graphs/stats of my progress and maybe post some interesting hands.

Cheers,
BoDo

Here is my progress since I started a week ago. Everything but 200ish hands is NL2.

Tried out the zoom-tables today. So relaxing to not get these action-spikes, like when you're playing 10 tables and suddenly see 6 tables flashing with postflog action. (and then just folding 3 min after that...)

I usually have to take a break after an hour, because I can't concentrate anymore. Today with 3 zoom tables, I was still at my A-game after 2 hours, so I think I'll stick to zoom tables for now. Volume is more important to me right now than the winrate at these low limits.

Thanks! Good luck too you too!

Played some NL5 zoom yesterday.. and it felt like they raised every steal, floated every cbet, outdrew every strong hand and generally totally outplayed me.. had to stop after 15min, cause I was getting emotional after I overplayed TPTK.

Played two sessions today, all 5nl zoom. Finally some variance.. I did begin to wonder why I have been spared so far.. Didn't miss that part of poker.

Set vs flushdraw, AA vs KK etc etc. And I think I'm beginning to overvalue TPTK/overpair.. I'm too lazy to review the hands right now, but I definitely have to look into that.

Oh and I got the 7 days trial on deucescracked. Got to begin improving my game a bit while moving up to where I was.

any way I can get away from that hand? had a very bad feeling when he shoved on the turn, but I couldn't walk away from 3.6:1 with the possibility of so many semibluffed draws out there..

The all in is not getting much action from hands different than AA and KK (maybe AK). Raising smaller still leaves me pot committed. Calling oop doesn't help much either, I think.
Maybe I need to learn to just let QQ go in such situations.

NL5 this weekend so far.

I'm running at 5BB/100 atm. Its ok I guess, but I made a lot of bad plays, so could be a lot higher..

Bankroll: $132
Total profit: $53.50

I'm playing another couple of thousand hands to wipe out a few leaks (stop bluffing those calling stations...) and then take a shot a NL10.

Running bad over the last two days..

Set over set and several suckouts. For example:
PokerStars - $0.05 NL ZOOM - Holdem - 9 players

BTN: $9.76
Hero (SB): $9.46
BB: $6.14
UTG: $2.79
UTG+1: $3.02
MP: $2.20
MP+1: $8.55
LP: $4.62
CO: $5.14

Hero posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero has K Q

fold, fold, MP calls $0.05, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.25, fold, MP calls $0.20

Flop: ($0.55, 2 players) 2 Q 4
Hero bets $0.55, MP calls $0.55

Turn: ($1.65, 2 players) T
Hero bets $1.55, MP calls $1.40 and is all-in

River: ($4.45, 2 players) 2

Spoiler:
Hero shows K Q (Two Pair, Queens and Twos) (Pre 67%, Flop 78%, Turn 89%)
MP shows 3 2 (Three of a Kind, Twos) (Pre 33%, Flop 22%, Turn 11%)
MP wins $4.27

So I won't be moving up to Nl10 just now. I think I'll wait untill I have a $200 roll.

Other than that.. I just began working on my bachelor thesis, so I wont be able to put that much time in poker for the next 3 months. My goal is to play 1-2 hours each evening and a lot more on weekends.

My downswing last week continued and I'm down 2 BIs at 5NL ZOOM. There was a lot of bad play involved besides running bad. It really makes a difference in my play if I'm in a bad mood and try to win money back...

I finally finished my downswing on saturday when I met with a friend for a poker evening. We played everything from 90mans over HU sngs to cashgame (6max and fullring). He got me playing well over my bankroll (NL25 and NL10). Fortunately I ran hot and after a few more sessions and a few thousand hands I'm up 4 BI at 10NL.

So my goals for the next weeks are:
[ ] don't play when in a bad mood
[ ] don't play if I want to win money in this session (makes me care too much)
[ ] stick to NL10 until the $500 mark
[ ] only play 2 tables zoom and exploit opponents tendecies as much as possible
[ ] think more! (no snap calls/raises)

Up 5,5BIs at NL10. And I cashed out my fpps, so I'm comfortably rolled for NL10 now.

Bankroll: $254

Didn't have the time to play much in the past two weeks. Even less hands, as I stuck to playing only 2 tables zoom until yesterday.

Had an insane heater right when I switched to 3 tables again. 8 BIs in 1 hour..

Bankroll: $409

9 more stacks and I'm moving to NL25.
