Edit: royal above was one of my first hands at 5nl, not last hands at 2NL. Not sure why I thought that.

Regardless, looking forward to watching the Olympics with my wife in February. Not sure how much volume I'll put in, but, looking for more of the same from a game play standard. GL all!

So it turns out that Matchbox 20 is the music to listen to for me while I play. It helps keep the positive vibes in my head regardless of what happens in any given hand. It's what I've been listening to the last 3 days while playing and the results have been pretty phenomenal, so that's the plan for February to continue more of the same.

Curious as to what you guys listen to. Feel free to post your game time jams.

Huge fan of this dude. Don't think I've heard a song of his that I didn't enjoy.

Also pretty sure you hit more straight flushes last month than I have in multiple years combined!

Reminds of the time my driving instructor asked me what the best hand I've had is, and trying to explain that's it's difficult to get paid with a royal flush. The first and last time I discuss poker with a member of the public.

Poker and English are two separate languages. Most lay people just don't understand. I had a conversation with a guy at work once who I thought was semi serious player. Turns out he's a recreational and I realized it after I got a blank stare from him after the first sentence out of my mouth lol.

With one more day to play in February, I might match the volume I played in January; solid. My play lately is okay, but, obviously always room for improvement. I am not quite sure where I stand as far as results because, fellas, we had some crazy swingy sessions over the past couple of days. From whale watching one day to the next day regs picking off bluffs that left me scratching my head; but, no regrets. I'll post some of them either tomorrow or Thursday morning for the lol's.

Hope everyone is crushing and GL!!

with the TJs just cold call the min 3bet imo. guy looks reasonable so min raise could be miss click but when he calls the 4bet he obv has something and is fishy, then calls the AKx flop I dont see him folding anything, so check fold and sometimes see a free river.
I agree the AQ river shove is ugly but we can shove all our value range there and make a lot, but probably better to be unbalanced when doing this and just never bluff after checking turn? Bet turn I prefer btw, i think, could be a good 3 barrel spot except on the K river ofc

Yeah, they tend to not like folding, lol. My cbet %age I feel has gone way down the last month because of it.

The JTs was a spot where I normally don't have (m)any bluffs at all. I mean 4betting and barreling off I'm gonna have AA,KK,AK and A5 nearly every single time.

So I've been doing this thing lately, probably since August 2017, where I completely stopped looking at any results from one hand to the next or from one session to the next. With the exception of maybe once or twice a month to see where I am at and to update the thread. Results are not even a thing; just something nice to look at after putting in the work. I've instead focused on playing each hand to the very best of my ability. The theory was if I did that, results will come. Any one hand or session no longer defines my poker journey. From a mental game perspective, totally ignoring session results has removed any sort of losing/winning bias going into the next session. It keeps me focused and the main thing to stay the main thing. Ignoring results also has allowed me to move past mistakes quicker, beats faster, good or bad plays more easily without letting any one bad decision compound on itself. I don't know if anyone else has done this, but, when I used to look at session results, I would get really disappointed if it didn't go the way I wanted it to and as much as I tried not to allow it affect me, the next session it would be in the back of my mind.

It finally dawned on me one day, "I wonder what would happen if I just closed the poker tracker and the ACR app at the end of session?" Now it's what I do nearly every single time. As you can see from the "results" over the last several months, it's been working. It works for me anyway for the time being.

Anyway, 10 days into May, ~17k hands, 3500 of them today. So far, happy with how I am playing overall, just gotta keep it up. GL, will update again in a couple of weeks.

Then I run into this character this morning. We have sort of some history of getting a little OOL with each other. I don't mind this fold really, despite being bluffed off the best hand, blockers to the nuts, etc., etc. I don't think I can ever just call ott, I was debating between shove or fold. Would love some thoughts on V's float.

I guess he's trying to exploit on a flop which isn't great for our range. Is our cbet range too weak, are our stats giving something away ie high cbet flop, low turn cbet or high turn check fold?
I think if we can't check call a good turn we should check the flop.

My flop and turn cbet are around 60/50 so I don't think so, but, maybe he sees something different. He just picked the right time...this time. I don't think xf the bottom of my value range is terrible since I will have some bigger overpairs that def xc/xshove. I think he was just proud of himself he made me fold lol.

Solid volume, keep it up.

I'm raising the flop in the first hand, I'd rather call down with nut flushes. Villain looks fishy and there's plenty of value to get from the many tp/sets/bare diamonds in villain's range.

Second hand, I'd shove the turn. This hand should be high enough in your range to continue, but it has vulnerable equity (that's still decent against a calling range), and villain's (bad imo) turn sizing leaves like 1/3psb left OTR.

If villain doesn't have you with a high cbet/turn x/f, then the float is pretty bad.

Tyty, that is the plan.

V in hand one was an aggro whale rec playing every other hand. I'll post the other hand I wanted to after work since I think it's worth looking at.

Second hand, I went back and forth. I really had no idea he would flat KJos pre let alone float otf. He must think I'm pretty terrible.
