hey guys,

come October, I will be play poker for a living for the first time in my life.

I am finishing my current job now and will be completley done by october.

I will be playing at foxwoods. I have my college degree to fall back on if it fails but just really wanted to try it out since I'm only 23 and why not.

Question I have for you people is simply this:

If you had to grind 2/5 NLH for a living (with the occasional side tournaments and maybe some shots at the 5/10) what bankroll would you want to start with, obviously that's reasonable.

Is $20,000 ok?

Too much, too little?

I think 50 buy ins is a bit much but maybe i dont understand how hard someone can downswing.

thanks guys

20k seems good, I think if this is all ur money then like 30k+ is suggested. take 6 months living expenses, cut it out of BR and then shoot for 40buyins

I agree with this, and here are my tips for you going pro in 2/5...

1. get all ''leaks'' out of your life and game..Such as NEVER bet on sports , Never play any carny games EVER ..Games such as BJ,roulette,craps,etc....may be obvious but needs to be said..

2.If you have a smart phone..Iphone app I have called poker income which is also an Ipad app is very useful for tracking your results..This app will calculate your wins/losses/hourly rate/ etc..Obviously you have to record results and I cant express how nice this is to have..

3. you said you will be playing tournaments... Realize super high variance of tournaments..Realize that your losing most of these so please dont make mistakes that I have and get excited about big tourney coming up and put more then like 5% of your roll on any tourney.

4.DOnt ever tilt no matter what

I could give million tips lol but thats all ya get good luck let us know how ya do fish
