Just had my first session of NL5 myself, saw your screen name and thought it seemed familiar.
You had quite a few nice stacks, so figured you were doing well.
GL with your challenge.
Oh hehe Well, today isn't going too great lol... Done 3192 hands of NL5 Zoom so far and only $2.31 in profit... But 500 hands ago I was down about $18 so can't complain too much lol... Since I started grinding NL5 Zoom though I'm up $28.27 over 10,793 hands though, which is 5.24 bb/100 so it's ok..
I hope NL5 is going well for you too
Btw, I'm so impressed with this hand I just played and had to come here to post it.. I raised with JJ, a short stack called and someone 3bet from the blinds. I flatted (because omg JJ can't fold that to just a 3bet)..
The flop came 348 and the guy who 3bet checked... The short stack was still in with less than a pot bet so I figured he'd shove with almost anything, so I checked since it gives me more information on the hand the 3better has too (If he calls, I imagine I'm probably beaten so can just fold)... I'm kinda impressed with myself for even thinking on that level since that's not too normal for me lol... Maybe I am getting slightly better
Turn: ($3.99) J (2 players, 1 is all-in) River: ($3.99) 4 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $3.99 pot ($0.17 rake)
Final Board: 3 4 8 J 4
BTN showed 9 8 and lost (-$1.67 net)
SB mucked and lost (-$0.60 net)
Hero showed J J and won $3.82 ($2.15 net)
lol so my NL5 Zoom graph is looking very similar to my previous graphs before the huge downswing... Let's hope it's not going to be the same for this lol...

Yeah that sounds very nice, and if you were on a downswing prior to moving to NL5 then 5.24 bb/100 is fine to restore your confidence.
I haven't really played much myself yet, only have 1360 hands played since I moved up there yesterday, but winning at 27.75 bb/100 atm. Shame that's impossible to keep up.
Regarding your hand, I think it polarizes his range a lot that he 3bets and then checks such a low flop. To me it screams AK with the possibility of him trying to check-raise and get it in with AA/KK. I think either b/f the flop is fine, because if he raises he's probably got you crushed, if he just calls he's probably trying to hit an A or a K and so you might get some value from AK. The other option is, as you did, checking behind, knowing he wouldn't give you much action unless he had AA/KK (I could be wrong, of course, but am leaning towards him having the AK).
Think it's an important thing in poker when you face a decision that you know you will only get called by hands that beat you if you bet, and thus will check. It seems like to me that's the kind of thinking you started doing there. :P

this is truly just terrible advice. how can you say to b/f when villain doesnt even have a pot size bet left? flop is a ez jam.
Not sure whats wrong with me... The last couple of days I've felt very anxious while playing... Like I'm playing Zoom and almost every 10 mins I need a break to calm down a little... Maybe I should take a few days off from playing... Or maybe Zoom just goes too fast for me to be comfortable.. It might be better if I play the normal tables instead.. But I like how much volume I can do when I play Zoom
I used up my FPP's today in 13 FPP satellites to some $1 tournament and won 10 of them (out of 700 FPP's worth... which isn't too great), so I think I'll play some $1 SnG's for the rest of the day.
But it's a new month now and let's hope this month will go smoother
My goal for this month is to do 100k hands. It would be nice to be in profit at the end of it too! Going to try start the month with a day of decent volume. I'm going to get some lunch soon and then start grinding.. I want to try do at least 5k hands today, but depending on how I feel after the 5k, I may try do some more..
I'm also going to try and not look at results part way through a session because I don't think that really helps me! Oh and I also want to do the thing Tommy Angelo did where you just open fold AA preflop (Only going to do it once though!! lol). Maybe the Poker Gods will be more favourable of me lol..

You said you had exams before. Just wondering what those exams were for? If you don't wanna reveal that information, that's fine
I'm studying for a degree in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science (I'm kinda a bit of a nerd lol)
Btw on that topic... For my final year project I'm planning to either make some really simple hold'em AI or like maybe something that analyzes large volumes of hands to find patterns in the data

Sarah you were on a few of my tables at 10nl a few weeks ago.
I think I donated about $3 to your boob job, so I'd say that entitles me to pics of the results.
I think I already lost your $3 Not been going too great recently lol... But it's a new month and I plan to just set all my filters in HM2 to this month only and forget about it!
