First post in this subforum - hope I'm using it for its intent!

Here are the Cliff's Notes of my situation:
- US-based player
- Started playing poker about 18 months ago - played in a casino about 8 or 10 times, played about 80,000 hands online, mostly 4NL and 10NL
- if you add up everything I've spent on poker including software, books, internet deposits and money lost at the casino it's probably about $1500
- My daughter has autism and her therapy, which is NOT covered by our medical insurance, is very expensive. Therefore, I can't afford to keep going to a casino and losing. In fact, back in Feb of this year (2013) I promised my wiife I would not return to a casino until 2014. I promised MYSELF that I would make no more deposits on internet sites this year as well (by the way, I had to break that promise to myself because I'd been playing on Lock. I don't want to continue if I'm never going to see my money so I deposited $100 on Carbon Poker.)
- I find LHE more fun than NL, especially at a casino. I also feel like it's a better fit for my skills - I'm far better at mathematics and memorization than I am at reading people.
- I still make a lot of mistakes, many of which are mistakes that someone who's been playing for 18 months shouldn't be making any more. When I make said mistakes on a 4NL online table I'm seldom out more than a few bucks. Similar mistakes at a $1/$2nl table or even a $4/$8LHE table can be far more expensive.

So in short, my goals for 2013 are:
- completely eliminate stupid, avoidable mistakes from my game. I don't mind (for now) if my opponents outplay me, I just want to avoid the really moronic mistakes from my game completely.
- build up a bankroll (by playing online) to start my live LHE "career" January 1st 2014 (I don't plan to go pro, I just plan to start playing LHE in the casino a LOT, and I want to make more than I spend. Simple as that.)

That's it. Then, as I said, in 2014 I want to start out at $4/$8LHE live and move up as my skill level dictates.
