Day 1 : 5NL Zoom
a high % of the players at 5nl zoom are nits , soo im having hard times trying to exploit their weaknesses , i Steal alot and resteal / 3bet a fair amount in LP , however i couldnt extract the same value as from the fish i used to play against at 2nl zoom , i decided to focus on areas of play per week , soo ill analyze preflop play for a week and make it solid then move to flop turn river , but a general hand for the first day might be good to start things off for me :

i think i made a mistake here but im not sure , what i tried to learn these last days is to know the reason why any bet will make me profit , soo my thought process here was : if i bet will any worse hand call ? and if i got 4bet how should i play it ? .. for the second question , if i got 4bet here i think it's a fold for me for the simple reason that he'll rarely do it with AK or JJ , will he call w AK or JJ ? , given his big gap between VPIP and PFR i guess ill have enough calls in his range for me to make profit , but while i was playing i didnt have these stats to think that . but im guessing against a nit a call here is def standard right ?
let's run some EV calcs , of a regular openning range :
i give UTG an OR of : 77+,AJs+,AQo+ (71 combo)
lets compare two types of lines , the line where i 3bet and he shoves or fold based on ranges and the line where i just flat and we go HU to showdown w/o betting postflop :
he'll shove AA KK QQ () , he folds rest :
EV_3bet = (58/71)*(4.4BB) - (13/71)*(10BB) = 3.6 - 1.83 = + 1.77BB
a bad play because we turn our hand into a bluff , he'll fold anything worse than QQ and shove the top of his range , soo flat calling here is better to keep his whole range at play and let him make mistakes postflop and benefit , however in this situation a 3bet might be better .
Flop: ($0.37) J
T
3
(2 players)
UTG+1 bets $0.23, Hero calls $0.23
and he leads for a big % of the pot (62%) , same question here about raising , if i raise here , how am i making value ? what worse can call here ? and what do i do if he 4bet ?
lets suppose he'll never call with AJ , the only hands that he'll call with are flush draws and straight draws ,
soo maybe im undervaluating the value of reraising here , EV of raising (i'll fold if he re raise on top) :
range (cbet most of his range) : TT+,ATs+,KTs+,QTs+,JTs,AJo-ATo,KJo+ (79 combo)
it seems that i block off his FDs combos w my Q of clubs , and since J and T are already on board the
only hand that can make him a flush draw is AcKc soo the range of him calling w SD and FD is : KQs,AcKc,KQo (9 combos) which i flip against ! (58% equity)
EV = (9/74)*(6.96) - (22/74)*(13.8) + (43/74)*(12) = 0.84 - 4.1 + 6.97 = + 3.71BB ( breakeven )
i guess the best play here is to just call and evaluate on turn again .
Turn: ($0.83) Q
(2 players)
UTG+1 bets $0.53, Hero calls $0.53
i hit a set but AK got there if he bet it on flop , but im ahead of JJ and TT which he'll play like this a large % of the times , soo he bet and i call because no worse will call in this situation and i might scare off AA KK and JJ TT .
River: ($1.89) 5
(2 players)
UTG+1 checks,
Hero bets $0.45, UTG+1 calls $0.45
river completes the flush and he checks , i guess most of the times he doesnt have the flush and in this stage i just wanted to extract some value from AA KK JJ TT , soo i bet a small amount for him to call with those types of hands .
