Hey guys I decided to start playing poker again around a week ago.
This time I decided to try it differently.
I took a punt at it. I decided to try NL25 because I still want to figure this game out.
Good news was I had $23 in rake back sitting in my account so that was awesome
.
Anyways I played and lost the $23. Then I used my own $25. I played and ran it up to $125 at least. 400bb profit at NL25.
I withdrew the principal $25 as I do and used the remaining $100 to learn NL100. Lost the money.
Since then I played every day. I deposit $25, play it up to $129 (417BB profit) then withdraw the $29 and play NL100. I played NL100 that day up to around 300BB at the high and ended at 200 BB around. So I profited a cool $200 off $25 deposit in one day. I withdrew all the funds past $100.
I then played the next day at NL100 and lost the $100. I then had to deposit $25 either that day or the next day. Ran it up again this time with mostly NL25 and some NL50. Withdrew $29 (I deposited with $25 e gift card from target.com) and went to NL100. Lost at NL100 again but I'm learning the ropes and how the stake plays differently.
The run down is in around the last 5 sessions I ended up earning at least $100 at least 3 of the 5. I had 2 days in a row where I achieved this profit target and then 2 I didn't because I was trying some new 3 betting strategies and then I had another day where I hit.
Technically the first day was a $200 day ($100 profit NL25 / NL50, $100 at NL100).
My account is positive in deposits vs withdrawals.
I'm not going to make a graph this time because I think it got me into my head when I would log a losing session.
My new strategy is 1 NL25 buyin, play up to $100 profit. Withdraw the principal buyin, and go play NL100 up to $120 profit. Then withdraw $100, and I'm left with $100 for tomorrow session and $20 for tournaments. Worst case I lose $29. Best case I earn $100. I'll take that. Then I'll have $100 profit + 2 buyins for tournaments. Mentally I have realized that it's best to only view the $100 withdrawn as profit. The $120 is for learning the game and playing tournaments. This way we are properly experimenting and learning and not playing scared to lose. This trick has been working very well so far.
I also will only play with 3 opponents at least at the table (so the blinds don't kill me), and I will play 15 minutes with 5 minute required breaks for anything not poker related).
At this point I'm not tilting, I'm making the proper folds, following my range, thinking about my opponents range, make more bold lines, check raising, floating, 3-betting, following the equity, and when I lose a hand I am staying focused and cool as a cucumber, and I'm also changing my play when required and being careful with my OOP c-betting depending on the situation.
Last session I only had a single losing 15 minute period.
At one point I made a 4-bet all in semi bluff to take down the hand (villain folded) vs river 3-bet because of my understanding of the board texture, ranges and position.
Last session I got $100 profit at NL25 / NL50 and then $80 profit from NL100. (Unfortunately the table closed).
I unfortunately can't play because I'm out of state for a whopping 2 weeks ... So I guess I'll have to study ...
Getting better and I am very close to hitting my goal of $100 a day from this game! I used to hate cash tables but now I love cash. Thanks for those of you who have been constructive and helpful. Those of you who hate I hope to see you on my right
