So my first competition was last weekend!! I competed in the West Midlands championships in Bedworth on Sunday 21st, my class was the Men's physique over 178cm category with 20 guys competing............And WON!!!

1st ****ing place!!

Sososososo happy!! I couldn't believe the feeling it gave me being up on the stage, just the most unreal euphoric high of all time! monstrous amounts of energy and adrenaline running through my body and it makes you feel amazing just being up on stage competing against the other guys!

Here's a couple of pics from the weekend, i don't have that many as of yet but I've ordered the full set with the videos too so will post more when they get delivered! To say i was over the moon would be a massive under statement

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

So because i won that show i got an invitation to the British Finals which take place on October 11th in Nottingham! I'll be up on stage competing against my little brother and basically the 1st and 2nd place finishers in all the shows throughout this year. So the standard will be insanely high and the show will be incredibly tough!

So i had one cheat day on Monday where i basically ate waaayyyyyyy too much **** food and then Yesterday i was straight back into my low carb diet while strolling around Alton Towers trying my best to shed more body fat before the big day in roughly 2 1/2 weeks time!

Wish me luck

very well done, you are looking really solid, but i personally think the guy on your left is sharper, but his legs/calves are really weak, guess that's what made the decision towards you. all the best!

Well done on the competition win! But it makes you realise how slow it is to build muscle naturally and how little muscle you actually have when you strip away all the fat and water weight. If I remember correctly, one of your posts said that you've been training for 8 years. No wonder so many guys just give up lifting weights or turn to steroids. After the first 6-12 months, progress becomes painfully slow and close to non-existent. Not to mention the ****load of healthy, nutritional food you have to consume day in day out (the gym is actually the easiest part).

well done on your success i really dont think people know how hard it is to do what you do,you eat at strict times go to sleep at certain times have your food prepared or maybe cooked early in the day so you can eat accordingly, this takes a tremendous amount of discipline and i take my hat off to you i can barely drag myself to the gym these days.

GL in your future competitions.

Strong argument. Have you ever worked out before? Do you have an informed opinion on this subject? All I'm saying is it takes ages to build anything close to resembling a muscular, sexy body. The general public has a warped perception of muscle and how easy it is to build it naturally - we are fed with bull**** magazine covers, shop window adverts and commercials which show photoshopped physiques of guys who are on a multitude of drugs, but we have been fed these images for so long that people actually believe these physiques are obtainable naturally. Just watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V22QxFLmmC8 His whole channel tells you the reality of muscle building.

Anyway this post is not an attack on the OP, not by any means. I'm commending him for his efforts. The guy is a beast - he has an awesome body, a good looking face, he crushes poker, has a beautiful girlfriend, his own house, own car. He wins at life. I was purely arguing people's misguided perceptions on natural bodybuilding and the physiques obtainable in certain time frames. An uninformed member of the public might think '8 years for that physique, it's decent but nothing special' but anyone who has any remote clue about fitness knows it is ****ing hard to achieve a body like that.

I agree tbh, and he was sharper, body fat wise. Judges went my way because i had a bigger back and better stage presence and posing routine I'm really gonna work my ass off the next 2 weeks and try and lose another 4lbs or so of body fat to come in leaner for the finals.

Yeah I've been training for at least 8 years now, but tbh the first 4-5 were a marginal waste of time as i wasn't alll that dedicated had roughly 0% clue about nutrition and training and basically was just a gym donk. I did get some gains though, just slow.

The last 3 years I've been really dedicated and not missed many sessions at all, and yeah it's incredibly slow trying to gain muscle mass naturally, Painfully slow at times. I'd be lying if i told you i hadn't considered taking gear to speed things up a bit. The thing i do like about training naturally is the shape that my physique takes with it's slow grown muscle over years of training. I think it's a better quality muscle or look. I see loads of kids and men come into my gym (kinda hardcore gym, renowned for gym rats and steroids etc) haven't got a clue what they're doing, take too much gear cus they want to 'get jacked' or whatever. And their muscle just looks like ****, full of water and because they train and eat like **** they look like **** too, they just get big quick.

Obviously if you know what your doing and take things sensibly though you can still get good quality gains using it. It's just most the donks in my gym train like **** i guess.

Thank you very much Yeah i do basically all of that, cook my food early so that i can take it to my office and eat it at specific times while grinding, and also take it with me when leaving the house etc. Just part of my life now i guess, second nature but thank you

I guess what i said above covers most of it but yeah i agree magazines massively warp what is possible naturally and the realism is that after the first 6 months of training even with impeccable diet control and training routines you are unlikely to gain more than about 3lbs a year of muscle naturally in my personal experience. Any product claiming that you can 15lbs of lean mass in 6 weeks is just absolute crap.

what are the judges actually looking for when deciding who gets first? is it just all their personal preference or is there a bit of marking criteria?

congrats

Thanks mate There is definitely a criteria they are looking for, for the physique competitions it's completely to different to what they look for in the normal bodybuilding category's though. In mens physique they look for a guy that could be a cover for a magazine really, they want the whole package not just size, gotta have decent looking face and hair Good muscle shape, tone, definition etc, gotta have confidence on stage and good posing routine that is pretty relaxed overall and fluid in motion.

It's becoming a really popular class because it's a more achievable look and i guess more desirable for a lot of people because most non-lifters would never want to look like these huge steroid monkey guys

Thanks mate, i'm not really sure where to recommend for nutrition and stuff because I've never used the internet much for training and nutrition really. I've been doing this for so long now I've just done it by trial and error with what works best for me as a natural hard gainer lot's of the things in the muscle really don't work like doing **** like 10 sets of 10 etc.

Having said that i do like Layne Norton's stuff on nutrition on bodybuilding, so Google him and read some of his stuff, he's a very knowledgeable guy.

So then!! 1 week Today i'll be at the British Finals competing against the greatest physiques in the country I've really been trying hard with my diet and training and especially cardio since the last show, I've been doing cardio 6 days a week. I've lost another 4lbs of body fat since the last show and feel great about it, Today i'm completely drained though, this low calorie and high cardio routine is really ****ing my energy levels!! But not long to go now so i gotta stick with it! I'm gonna start loading my body with calories and cabohydrates to fill back out on Thursday ready for the show on Saturday.

Also fitted some nice height adjustable coilover suspension to my car this week and had the wheel arches rolled to clear the new wheels Having the wheels re-done in matt purple to make it really stand out from the crowd next Saturday too I hope it looks as good irl as it does in my head lolol Could be an epic fail......

This is how she looks right now though:

Spoiler:

My Birthday tomorrow but i'll be in the gym doing cardio and i'll be eating chicken and broccoli so it won't feel like much of a Birthday lol Booked a table for me and my family at a nice Caribbean restaurant in town for next Sunday after the show though so i can really pig out and enjoy my food gain Cannot wait!!!
