Getting Myself A Real Life

So I recently have turned 18. I'd like to make the "blog" to help me reach my poker and real life goals. At the moment I'm still living with my mom and learning at high school.

I have played online poker from the age of 16 with OK success but have never got into it to much. I have been swinging from game to game, like i play 6max cash for a week or two then i just get bored and switch to husng or mtt's. I hope that making a blog like this will prevent me from doing so. So I have decided to play 6max and only 6max, maybe some mtt's from time to time but the main game has to stay shorthanded cash. I wish to beat the micros/small stakes and get to midstakes games. I will be starting at the NL10 level and will be playing at ipoker so ill have to mix euro pound and dollar games. I will be posting my progress, cool hands etc.

As for the real life part. I want to finish high school, get into an university, get my own flat and start my own life I hope that poker will help me to do this.

Poker goals:
  • Play at least 30k from 12/26/2011 untill 01/31/2012.
  • Get to NL20 by February.
  • Reach NL100 by June 2012.

Life goals:
  • Get a drivers licence by February.
  • Finish high school.
  • Get into a university.
  • Find myself a flat by October 2012.

These are some 6max and FR NL10 and NL25 hands that i have on my PC from PokerStars.

Have played 2 sessions now on the ipoker network. Got to get used to the software but the games seem soft and the rb great.

Starting bankroll: 438.47$

Okay. This was the first playing day after starting this blog. I was not able to play as much as I wanted as I had to go to visit my friend in the hospital but still did manage to put in 2.5 hours of playing. Ran pretty good and i fell that I have finally got used to the ipoker software.

I'm in the same boat as you. Young, interested and looking to see how far i can go.

Probably decided a month ago to stop being a reload fish and seeing the game as gambling as i was getting pounded with marginal hands.

GL with this.

My favorites are: Coaching Kristy 1&2, The+EVolution of a poker player, The thin red line and off course Tommy Angelo and the eightfold path to poker enlightenment (one of the best pokerseries ever on DC!!)

And many others off course

Thanks and GL for you to.
When I started out I had the same problem but the thing that helped me was that a friend of mine started playing to and from that moment I saw it as a competition, started thinking and winning.

Unlike you, i have zero poker friends in real life. Which makes it difficult to develop a natural progression.

I have a lot of gambling friends however and that doesn't help me at the felt. It's hard trying to match their winnings by playing a patient game in poker which usually leads me to become a pot builder with a marginal hand and calling off shoves by being pot-committed.

Anyways, this is your thread! I will be subbing and keeping track. I will start my graphs and try to compare. GL again.

I have decided to add something more interesting to my challenge, I will be adding mini challenges from time to time they should be done in a weak max.

Mini challenge NR:1
Play 2000 hands on 12/28/2011

Maybe for some hardcore grinders this will seem funny but for me 4tabling it will take 6-7 hours to do this and I usually don't play that much so lets see.

Mini Challange NR:1 - Failed
Hands 1709/2000

I wont be able to finish it as I'm heading out with my crew.

As for today... pretty damn terrible. Ran ice cold and at some moments did not play my best neither made few mistakes. But generally I could not hit flops and if I did the turn and river cards made me vomit. Ended up loosing ~50$ but those where like ~3.5bi as I am playing the euro and GBP games to.

Maybe will post some hands, mistakes I made if will have some time left.

And dose any1 know if the rake that shows up in HEM is correct, if so its kinda sick to rake 52$ in 3.7k @NL10 lol.

Roll:431.81$
Hands:3721/30000

Hand NR:1
BB is a passive fish playing 43/0

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer
SB ($11.82)
BB ($5.94)
UTG ($10)
CO ($23.54)
Hero ($10.96)

Dealt to Hero 2 2

fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.30, fold, BB calls $0.20

FLOP ($0.65) 7 5 2

BB checks, Hero bets $0.50, BB calls $0.50

TURN ($1.65) 7 5 2 9

BB checks, Hero bets $1.50, BB calls $1.50

RIVER ($4.65) 7 5 2 9 Q

BB checks, Hero bets $3.90, BB calls $3.64 (AI)

BB shows T 3
(Pre 50%, Flop 26.5%, Turn 15.9%)

Hero shows 2 2
(Pre 50%, Flop 73.5%, Turn 84.1%)

BB wins $11.14

When playing this hand I did not think to much about his range as he is a fish but now I see that the river shuv is pretty spewy I dont think that even a fish like him could could call the river with 7x or 9x so im getting value only from 2pair hands but on the river almost all the draws have came and I think i should have just checked back here.

Hand NR:2
CO is somewhat decent reg playing 27/21 4.1 aggression over ~300 hands

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer
SB ($10.29)
BB ($21.34)
Hero ($10)
CO ($10)
BTN ($10)

Dealt to Hero Q A

Hero raises to $0.30, CO calls $0.30, fold, fold, fold

FLOP ($0.75) Q T Q

Hero bets $0.60, CO calls $0.60

TURN ($1.95) Q T Q 8

Hero bets $1.60, CO raises to $4.80, Hero folds

CO wins $4.81

I'm not sure if folding here is the best play i still have 9 outs to a full house and 8 outs to a nut flush. But his range here is supper strong only FH's Flushes and maybe some Qx but I don't think that he is raising them on the turn. So i'm kinda lost in this hand.

So another loosing day. Today I did not play my best at the start then lost few quite big hands quit the session and decided to watch some video while doing it played a 2$ rebuy tourney busted out 30/100 or smthg. I had not played for like 3 months before starting this thread so now I understand that I definitely have to revise some things. The weird thing that I have noticed that I cant really get to many 100bb pots. And the annoying part is that at ipoker you can buyin with 30bb at most tables so usually the fish have only 30bb and that's quite bad. Gonna watch some videos and maybe read "The poker blueprint".

If someone wants to talk about some hands maybe do some sweat sessions or smthg PM me your skype nick. Would be nice to find some poker friends now as I have lost contacts with most that I had before.

Today

Lost most at GBP tables so downed only like 1.4bi.

This is super tight fold in the last hand, too tight imo, but all the best with it.

yeah I would have just jammed on the turn, if he has it you probably have outs but good lord I'm not getting away from that. Quite possibly an amazing fold but like I said I would have jammed since I'm a donk.
