Sunday morning session finished 1950 hand -$314.35. Kind of a weird session, felt like it had the potential to book a good win but just couldn't get a good river card. Felt like I played pretty well, a couple of mistakes but happy overall. I like morning sessions, my concentration tends to be at it's highest in the first few hours after waking, I'm going to try and focus on putting a lot of my volume in at theses times if I can.

Feb so far:

Because I mostly post winning hands... B/F turn? C/F river? Villain is Marc Karam fwiw. I check because he floats a lot of flops and tries to take it away with a bet on the turn.

I don't see any problem the way you played the hand above, unless he doesnt bet/rep busted backdoor fd's / sd's or only nut hands.

Yeah, I'm not totally unhappy with the hand I just think that Marc is good enough to realize I'm probably calling down with that river and he bets anyway (and pretty big). I think river is probably a fold, he has to be betting KJ for value or bluffing ~40% for a call to break even and I'm just not sure he does... its close.

After a few days in Phuket, I'm really glad I didn't book a month at a guest house there. Kata is so much better than Patong area though. I took a ferry to Ko Phi Phi, and it's amazing and so much better than Phuket.

It's been a little tough dealing with internet as I've been staying at hostels(Patong(crappy in and out internet), and a backpacker hostel on Phi Phi that doesn't have AC/Wifi which is like $12/night.
Make sure to use mosquito repellent as it's really bad everywhere.

Cheers Ace, and thanks for the advice. Hope your having a good time. I'm looking to stay in Kata, it's been a theme in the Phuket advice I've gotten from a number of sources now.

Sounds like both of you recommend Ko Phi Phi and both warn against mosquitoes. I'l definitely have to take the ferry across for a couple days. I did a quick image search and it looks amazing.

Poker Update:

Played my first session in a while today and decided to man up and stop being such a bankroll nit and go play 400 again. Holy **** after playing 200 for so ling it's a bit nerve racking. The game plays pretty different and I have to keep telling myself not to over adjust. I'm consciously playing a bit tighter ranges pre-flop while I adjust to the new regs and how the game plays. More 14/10 than 17/14.

Today:

Hands:

River is a fold. Pretty ******ed spot for him to be trying on a bluff and I beat nothing. Threw up a little in my mouth when I saw his hand though

Travel update:

Sorted out dates and paid for our round the world tickets this morning! **** just got real. Still tons of stuff to do before leaving though. I've organized new passports and we've hired an agent to let our apartment while we're away Think I might have found someone to buy my car too which is good. Going to be liberating just to throw out/give away a big % of our belongings I think. It's amazing how much junk one can accumulate... Countdown to the end of work has begun, just 4 weeks remaining. I seriously can't wait.

Poker update:

Quit being such a bankroll nit and started playing 400 as my main game again. Haven't put many hands in yet, plan is still an easy month in Feb and then a 100k plus hands in March to kick off my pro-career. Did a small amount of database review work to help another poster in PG & C, YouFaiil, and found it quite eye opening. I really don't do enough work behind the scenes and I'm going to spend a bunch of time looking through different filters and working on my game. It's important not to get complacent and to constantly be trying to improve so as not to let the game pass you by.

YTD:

Edit: Looks like I'm approaching another milestone... Any suggestions for a 1000th post?

Still really weak volume for the month. Managing to break even through a combination of playing terribly and running like Jesus. Only 18 days of work left, looking forward to trying to put in. Some big volume. I'm thinking about a new bankroll management strategy where I start every month at 200 then move up after a set $$ value in profit. I tend to go back and forth from wanting to grind out a decent but not spectacular profit over-rolled and moving up aggresivley to chase the big $$ and that might be a way to satisfy both my urges

I actually poo'd my pants a bit when I got 3bet pre. Villain is 13/9/1.5 over a decent sample I thought his range pre was QQ+/AKs. I flat with the intention of playing very cautiously. When he checked flop I though there was a decent chance he was trapping with AA but would have cbet AK and when he checked the river I put him on exactly QQ and decide I can squeak out a bit of value. Bit surprised to see JJ really, it's weird sometimes people show up with stuff that doesn't really fit there image.

Something weird happened with the video where two separate recordings got joined together and the file ended up to big to upload. I think I've fixed it and I'm re-rendering the video hopefully it will be done later today and I can get it uploaded.

After making the video and playing my first two sessions of the day at 200nl I decided play my next session at 400nl. Didn't go to0 well... Felt I actually played pretty well but KK<AK, AK<JJ all in pre-flop and then some guy flatted my 4bet with AA and we got in in on K high board (I had AKs).
