Gonna short stack some 10/20 w/ $2k while I wait for 5/10. Chips are flying at this table. And they are straddling so it's really like a 10/20/40.

But of course I can't straddle cause I'm too poor.

One guy is pretty deep with like $40k. Others have around $6k-$10k.

I better buckle up.

Well I got called for 2/5 and only lost one bb in the 10/20 whew!

They were asking me if I was going to straddle I was like, "Are you serious? Do I look like a man who can afford $40?"

About 3k effective. Villain is a good aggro Asian guy 29-35.

Villain is in the straddle we're 7 handed.

PF: Hero opens to 50 utg+1 with AsQd, CO calls, folds to Villain who makes it 220, I call because I have the Ace of spades and it's the best card in the deck, CO behind me calls.

Flop(675): Tc 9c 5h
Villain checks, I bet 350, CO folds, Villain calls.

Turn(1375): 4s
Check, Check

River(1375): 6d
Check, I bet 1k targeting a fold from AK at this point I think that's what he has.

Or something like 88 which probably isn't folding, but maybe like 20% of the time.

He folds pretty quickly.

Well my trip is officially over.

Final Gambling Tally
10/20: -$20
5/10: +$5,350
2/5: -$1,093

Poker Total: +$4,237 - $1600 tournament=
$2,637

Blackjack Total: $400

Slots: -$120

Crapless Craps: -$160

So all in all a pretty decent trip gambling wise.

Coming back in late October for a week with the family but probably won't have much time for poker as it will be mostly restaurant tours and sight seeing. Booked a week at the Vdara as we'll need the space.

Until next time going back into radio silence.

Thanks man I'm glad you enjoyed it.
It was a lot of fun getting back into the groove of playing after a long hiatus.

It almost makes me want to play a little more often locally, but probably won't happen as I don't want to drive 40-45min each time to play.

I was about to start a vlog long ago, but the video editor I was going to partner with ghosted me after making one video and I found it was just a real pita to try and record notes and video while playing every hand.

Was a lot more trouble than it was worth at least for me. I don't know how those guys do it.

As fun as Vegas was I gotta say that there's nothing like being back home and sleeping in my own bed.

There was one hand I forgot to post as I'm kind of thinking back over my trip.

Only because I had to put in a ton of effort mentally not to let it tilt me the rest the session or the trip. But this is one of those hands that will always stick in my memory even though I didn't even play the hand.

This was in the 5/10 session I played Thursday night. Opener was a young ~23yr old Chinese poker nerd type had maybe 2k from doubling up with a flush draw vs a set his first orbit at the table. 3 bettor was white guy mid to late 30s had like 7k later found out he was a high end real estate agent in LA and had a guest appearance on Selling Sunset.

Both had been playing pretty reasonably in the couple hours I've played with them.

Anyways otth.

PF: Straddle on, Young kid opens 50 utg, 3 bettor makes it 150 from the CO, I fold 66 in the sb trying to play good for once. Opener calls.

Flop(335): Ks Jc 6d
Check, 120, call.

Turn(575): Ac
Check, 260, call.

River(1095): 6c
Check, 630, kid tanks for awhile and calls with AQ and wins vs 53s.

I'm so curious how the hand would've played out had I stayed in.

This Elon vs Zuckerberg MMA match confirms we're not living in source reality.

If it happens I wonder if it's something Vegas will have action for. I'd set the line around 30-1 in favor of Zuck.

I don't think Elon lasts more than a couple of minutes unless they have some weird rules where both people wear enormous boxing gloves or something.

It's funny there are indeed hands that stick in your memory - this reminded me of a hand I played in a pot limit holdem game at WSOP more than 30 years ago. It was 25-50 PLH uncapped (the standard big PLH game then). I'm in big blind with 6-6, a total fish raised pot from late position and then this old time road gambler Willie S. playing ultra tight re-raised pot from SB. For him this was always a big pair not even AK. I was about 10-12k effective with him, and I could have called but decided to lay it down. Fish called all in. Flop came k-j-6. Willie showed KK. Turn 6 and I would have had all of Willie's money. Every time I get 6-6 I think of that hand.

Very nice trip report. Look forward to more in the future.

Oh yeah I remember your SN. Glad you enjoyed the TR.

Wow a very similar board. Yeah I can't remember another time where I've folded a hand pf and would've had quads.

The only other hand like this that has stuck w/ me forever and I've told this one before is when I was playing 5/10 at the V 3 handed about 16yrs ago.

I folded 42 pf(yes I even remember the exact suits after all this time, funny how the brain works.) I would've been up against Aces full of 33s and quad 33s and stacked both players who were decently deep stacked.

Here's a few other random hands floating around from the trip that I forgot to post.

5/10, Villain has 3k, I'm relatively new to the table maybe 3 orbits in and haven't played many hands.

PF: Villain opens CO 30, I 3bet AK on button to 130, BB cold calls, CO calls

Flop(395): Q 5 7
Check, Check, bet 130, fold, call

Turn(655): 3
Check, 500, villain tanks for about 2min and folds QJs.

2/5 1500 effective villain has like 3k playing very solid.
PF: Villain opens HJ to 15, I call from sb w/ A5

Flop(32): A 8 5
I check, Villain bets 15, I make it 45, Villain makes it 145, I call.

Turn(322): 7
I check dark, villain checks

River(322): 3
I bet 100 dark, villain calls w/ 88.

5/10 3k effective straddle on

PF: I open A7 in HJ, bb makes it 150, I call

Flop(325): 8 5 3
Check, I bet 60, call

Turn(445): K
Check, check

River(445): T
Bet 150, I make it 430, calls and mucks.

Well I would say 10/20/40 uncapped is substantially bigger than 5/10 3k max.

I only had 30k on me and as it was my last night I wasn't looking to play a big tough game and possibly get stuck big before I leave.

Also in general I think I prefer to play smaller these days compared to my younger self who was comfortable playing as high as I could go w/ my entire roll on the table. I'm a nitty OMC now.

On an entirely other random note, if you ever have to sell a car I would recommend selling it to CarMax. I have no idea how they make any money.
This is my third car I've sold to them and each time they've paid the very top of the market, even higher than what I could get private party. Also they take care of all the paperwork and I don't have to deal w/ the DMV which is quite a perk.

This car I bought awhile back for around 17k has been just sitting around so I decided to finally unload it and they paid me 24.4k for it. Car prices are wacky.

Got bored so loaded $100 on Ignition to play 5nl 6 max. Played like 1k hands and down half a buy in playing like a donkey so I guess it's still pretty easy money for the knowledgeable and disciplined.

Currently working on a small house flip so it's occupying a lot of my time, but I prefer it to my day job for sure.

Why play like a donkey? Is it more fun than playing well? Are you sure that "it's still pretty easy money" if you played like a donkey?

Well yes because you can play more hands and just gamble without thinking.

Playing well is hard work and boring at least to me.

Had some fun in the micros getting wrecked.

PF: Hero ($7.51) opens $0.12 AT in CO, Button ($6.66) calls w/ 55, SB and BB call.

Flop($0.48): 5 T 7
Check, Check, I bet $0.35, Button calls, SB folds, BB calls

Turn($1.53): A
BB checks, I check, Button bets. $0.73, BB folds, I raise to $1.86, button calls.

River($5.25): 8
I bet $4.33, Button calls all-in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PF: HJ Limps, I complete SB w/ Q8, BB checks

Flop($0.15): 5 6 J
I bet $0.05, BB calls, HJ calls

Turn($0.30): 5
I bet $0.20, BB raises to $0.60, HJ folds, I call

River($1.50): 5
I check, and BB bets $5, I fold.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PF: Button limps with QT, SB folds, I raise to $0.25 w/ TT in bb, Button calls

Flop($0.52): T 4 9
I bet $0.15, Button Calls

Turn($0.82): 3
I check, Button checks

River($0.82): J
I bet $0.65, Button raises to $2.73, I call. oops
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lost QQ to AK aipf back to back.

Then had KT vs 54 on 4 K 9 T betting the entire way and he ran me down on the river.

And then this fun one.

PF: HJ limps w/ Q6, I raise to $0.25 in CO w/ TT only HJ calls.

Flop($0.57): 7 7 7
HJ bets $0.05, I raise to $0.70, HJ raises to $1.35, I raise to $4.75 and am all in, HJ calls.

Turn: Q boom
River: 3

After that I promptly dumped the rest of 80 bucks or so at blackjack and called it a day.

Are you going to be in Sac or the Bay area?

I haven't played cash in Sac in quite some time, but I would figure Thunder is probably your best bet, maybe Capitol Casino would be worth checking out. There's Stones too, but not sure how it is after the Apostlepse.

If in the Bay I would say Bay 101 will have the most tables, but Oaks Card Club probably has the softest small stakes.

Mtts I think Only Thunder runs regularly.

But if you're rolling through the bay hit me up.

Ventured out for a rare night of some live pokerz at a local spot called Oaks Card Club.
Smaller games and less tables than Bay 101, but it's a shorter drive.

Only my second time here ever, but last time I remember the game playing super soft and passive.

The have about 3 tables each of 1/2/3 and 2/3/5 $1k max.

On the list currently.
