Hmmm not sure what that means. Maybe it's some new slang I'm not up on.

Ran pretty bad in this tourney.

Started off by a standard FD vs TPTK where the guy called a shove on the flop with a q high FD. He hits the turn and I even have the redraw with an Ace, but I can't hit.

Then these 2 below.

The 99 vs 88 the guy shoved aipf and I called.

The KJ vs AQ the guy bet calls my shove on the turn lol. Poker is definitely not dead.

It's hard to win sometimes though regardless.

Trying to decide which tourney to play coming up.

Thunder Valley has a $1500, 500k gtd.
Lucky Chances has a $1140, 500k gtd.

TV will probably end up with the bigger overall prize pool. Both places have 40 min levels, but I'm assuming TV has a flatter structure. But it's like a 3 hr drive vs LC which is just 40 min. Never been to LC before.

So I guess the question is do I want to drive longer to play regular, or stay closer and play a turbo.

Had quite the bizarre hand. I don't think I've had one like this that I can remember.

Blinds 300-600. Hero has 23k, villain has 15k.

PF: Hero opens in MP to 1275 w/ QJ, only Villain in BB calls.

Flop(2850): 8 9 3
Villain checks, Hero bets 925, villain raises to 4950, hero jams.

Villain calls with 75

Board bricks out and I win with Q high.

MTTs on BetOnline are as soft as it gets but the player pool is just so small.

Good luck on whichever $500k you choose! keep us updated

Wow been a long time man! How you been? You still in LA? I'm in the Bay area now. I didn't think anyone read this haha.

Yeah Betonline is pretty soft. I've run up a few k from $100 quite a few times. Just to scratch the poker itch now and then.

Yeah I want to play the TV tourney more, but I'm sure I'll stick to what's convenient which will be LC. Drive time and no need to get a hotel. I heard the place is kind of small so I gotta get there early to make sure I'm not an alternate.

Yea, i'm in LA. I work in a High school now lol. I'm good, playing mostly online now. I just logged in and saw you had a thread so i had to drop in

I played at Matrix once when i was in SJ and they tech money was flowing through that place, reminded me of LA.

Sounds like a good choice to limit cost of travel and extra time of driving

Good stuff.

Yeah poker is still pretty good out here. I usually play at Bay 101, but I don't play live that frequently like I used too. Just too time consuming.

I think I'll play the monster stack and maybe the ME next summer. I was busy this year so wasn't able to make it out.

You should hit me up if you're ever back in the area.

Alright, all set to play my 2nd live tournament of the year. I look forward to these since I don't have too many opportunities to play these days since so many of these types of tourneys finish on a Monday or Tuesday it usually doesn't work out for me.

I settled on the Lucky Chances $1140. They have x3 day 1s starting this Friday. I'm going to play 1b on Saturday. It's a re-entry so I figure it's worth it to fire 2 bullets at it if need be. Hopefully not.

Will definitely have to run a little better than last time though.

Thanks Garick! Yeah they're always fun to play. Tournament formats I've always found more enjoyable as they keep me engaged more than not.

Hope to make this one count as it's likely my last one until next summer.

Good point. I've caught myself on auto-pilot in cash games from time to time but MTTs always keep my focus. You think its because the scenarios are so fluid? eff stack sizes, money bubbles, ICM pressures while in the money, etc

Yeah for me that's exactly it. Strategy and ranges are always changing and you are progressing towards something.
But there are so many things to think about all the time. Plus the prize money prospect adds to it as well.

Yeah cash games get monotonous for me. I can't really play much longer than 6hrs anymore.

Played a little $5 tourney to warm up for tomorrow. Cause you know $1ks live pretty much equate to $5 online.

Was chip leader late in and immediately after I lose a third of my stack when I raise QQ and get shoved on by AQ and I'm drawing to one out after the flop.

I still make it to the FT though. End up busting 5th by gambling at the end. bb flopped top two and I had oesd with bdfd. He boats up immediately lol. Fought back pretty good though as I was 7 of 9 to start the FT.

A couple easy pick up chip spots:

Hero is bb with 16bb Villain is sb with 20bb.
PF: Folds to villain who limps, hero checks J2o.

Flop: K K 6r
Villain leads 1 bb, hero calls

Turn: 3
Villain checks, hero bets 2bb, villain folds.

Hero is bb with 18bb, villain is button with 20bb
PF: Folds to villain who makes it 2bb, Hero calls
with Q4s

Flop: 662r
Hero checks, villain bets 1bb hero calls
Turn: 8
Hero checks villain bets 3bb, hero jams, villain folds.

80 runners so far at the start.

Well nothing like doubling my stack on literally the first hand of the tournament lol. Hope it continues.

Same old guy to my right on a 12k stack at 200/300 opens utg
for 3600,folds to bb who does some acting and shoves for 23k.

Old guy calls with JJ bb has AA and holds. Guy rebuys and sits right back down to my right.

Amazing.

Well back up to 65k at 300/500 500. Grinding is hard work.

Only been 1 level and that J6 guy has given almost all his chips away. He's a true button clicker. I don't think I've seen one this extreme up close before.

blinds 300/600 600. Stacks are luke 60k effective.

PF: Button clicker opens to 1500 utg, couple calls, and semi tight lady who plays textbook 2006 tournament poker calls from bb.

Flop: 6 7 A
checks through.

Turn: 6
lady checks, button clicker bets 1500, 1 caller, lady makes it 6500, button clicker calls, fold.

River: 4
Lady checks, button clicker bets 10k, lady tank makes a crying call eith T6:
button clicker shows TT

He's also done this 2 other times just betting like bottom pairs on the river for small amounts and he's been called with TP twice.

Weirdest hand. Hero has about 63k Hj, Villain 1 to my left has 24k been pretty tight and passive, villain 2 in sb has been kind of weak tight has about 60k.

Blinds 300/600, 600

Pf: Folds to hero who makes it 1500 with JJ
Villain 1 makes it 4800, sb cold calls, hero calls.

Flop: 8 9 6
Checks around

Turn: 5
Checks around

River: 2
sb checks, hero bets 2k, they both fold
