I've been dorking around on 2p2 recently and reading some of these challenge threads have inspired me to try and become accountable to you.. the pool of my peers and betters who will hopefully laud my achievements and mercilessly berate me if I fail. I am starting with a bankroll of ~45 dollars on Minted Poker playing plo and no limit with an aggressive bankroll management- 25 or so buy ins, move down, move up accordingly etc. The first goal is 2k, including rakeback and bonuses.
To provide some info/entertainment: I am surely a gambling addict. Out of high school I ran up 50 bucks into thousands dozens and dozens of times, only to lose it all on spewy monkey tilt a week later. I am primarily a limit player, having played probably 2m+ hands of HORSE, o8 especially. My m.o would be to run up a small ammount to 5-10k over the course of a month or so, only to lose it all in fits of rage, playing 300 600 stud on seething tilt or buying in to 50 100 plo short and lighting a month of work on fire. A few times I was able to control myself for more than a month and run it up real high, only to blow 20k in a night playing 2k sitngos drunk, or multitabling deep 25 50 plo vs galfond after fighting with my girlfriend. Obviously really healthy/profitable. Basically the end to this story was me not ever having money, dropping out of school (not due to poker, but certianly did not help), and being in a weird state for about 3 years. Poker isnt what i really wanted /want to do, but I see no actual real other alternative to making a decent living as a single 20 year old without a college degree which has become impossible for me to obtain at this point.
I have a full time job now. I hate it. The rigors of working 10+hours a day over and over again for minimal money... it sucks. I know I have the ability to play good poker in the short term. If I can pick up some BRM skills and tilt control, maybe I can turn my life around.
I can only play on minted now as a U.S player. (Oh i have about 20k locked up on full tilt. If i get that money back this challenge will change). Minted has no fixed limit action so I will be honing my big bet skills at the micros.
