imho you're thinking about this from the wrong angle.
I wouldn't get hung up on your writing capabilities having leaks. Do you know how many terrible writers have best selling books? Have you tried reading the entire Divergent Series? I guarantee you could write that story better than Veronica. Succeeding as a writer comes down to selling yourself well, selling what you have to offer, and the rest is cookie cutter.
And if you think your leaks are really bad there are writing classes you can take for 0.1% of your bankroll. Investing money in yourself is one of the best things you can do at a young age.
I would advise you keep broadening your abilities and continue to pursue avenues for income. But don't force it when it feels like it has been. You seem to get hung up on the details sometimes and while that is good in poker, remember, you already have the foundation built, you can delve deep because you already have a great understanding of what the higher stuff is built upon. In other, newer venues you'll just be starting out, so just learn the basics and have fun learning new things. And keep it fun, if you're looking to diversify your income remember, there's a lot out there to choose from so don't go for something you don't enjoy.
I think you could keep the thread open and use it as a medium to practice your writing. You enjoy doing it, you have an available place with a readership already established. I think that's reason enough to stick around.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
