Been having a **** couple of days so I'm playing some 500z to shake off the rust. I feel I can concentrate better with slightly better software, HUD and not having to manage lobby stuff.
Had a bit of back and forth chat with a rec, all in good fun.

I know nothing in plo, but by watching his videos it looked like he was the biggest nit in the universe, like every time you call him OTR with a bluffcatcher its -20bb lol

^He's actually such a PLO god. He might not be an end-boss who can open-sit 25/50 (or maybe he can, but just chooses not to take that variance), but he's a top tier reg at 500z who just doesn't make very many unforced errors. You can see from his streams he's also got pretty awesome mental game and work ethic too and is all around such a force at the tables.

Enough dick-sucking.

Got some breathing room, time to turn-it-around-round-2.

Sick to know he is a legend, in his videos he was always saying "fold this, fold this", and most PLO hands look really pretty(at least for NLHE players haha).

btw, why omaha isn't played as no limit? I've always wondered about how it would be to overbet in games like that. Maybe the game would become too weird?

Because most of the time over jamming would be the best play just to deny everyone equity making the game pretty boring

Sick rollercoaster graph ZOMG, been lurking this thread for awhile now

The crawling out of it in the middle of the graph just to immediately be sucked right back into the abyss and having to regrind out of it again are some of the more challenging moments of poker imo.

it's brutal, glad he made the crawl back. I experience the same thing in Spins.

I mean... The month's been pretty much more of the same. Volume was lacking the 2nd half but I'm finally finding a bit of motivation to grind again. This was mostly due to second-guessing myself during a lot of my sessions. I've been playing much shorter sessions this week, and self-analysing a whole bunch of spots to get the confidence back up.

Results may not show it but I'm pretty happy with how that method is going (re:my sanity anyway)

Still feel a bit gross though when I'm doing pretty well at 500z

Ah well. My goals for the month were *kind* of dashed, but at least I've kept the fitness up! Working on that summer bod heh
Hopefully June goes better

sick variance in the 12k mark, plo is the devil's game lol

btw, why are winrates higher in plo if equities run closer than nlhe?
also do you think that it would be nicer in plo to allow people to bet more than pot OTR only?

ah, and is urubu111 still around?

The equities thing doesn't have any inherent bearing on winrates.

Winrates are higher in PLO if players play more worse than you at PLO than at NLHE, that's really all there is to it. There's no actual quantifiable way of measuring skill (edge is not transitive so bb/100 doesn't actually measure skill, skill isn't even "one thing")

Sounds awful. It forces people to balance their flat range more, and therefore will cause people to bet less thinly on rivers, which generally will mean less action.

^To answer your q rapidesh
Although I don't agree that it sounds awful for sure.

urubu doesn't zoom so I haven't seen him in a while. Last time I saw him was a few months ago at 200pl reg tables on Stars (with a few flips vs 10/20 or 25/50 vs a high stakes reg) haha

So around March time I "switched sites" from Stars to others. I wasn't playing exclusively on non-Stars though. I'm kind of feeling like it was a bit of a mistake now...

Both graphs since March

500z Stars

Similar stakes on non-Stars (no 5/T+)

I mean.. It's kind of ridic how good I'm running on one site compared to another (which should definitely be softer). Sample size or whatever, but I'm really humouring the thought that the bot problem may be true...

It's been a... Slow month

More of the same stuff heh. Not playing my best. I am making it a habit to go through my losing hands more often and I can at least recognise the hands that I'm losing and where I'm spewing. Poker's more fun when you're sunrunning.

I just looked at the lobby at 100z and it's so demotivating to see the wild fishregs that I used to see at 500z dropping down there. How am I supposed to pick up your spew$$ if you move down?!

Re:Fitness, making it a goal to get stronger in general.
I've cut down on running (after watching a whole lot of videos telling me to not run or I'll become a twig) and just joined the gym. The whole month I've been trying to up my daily calories but it's just super hard when you've been skinny all your life. Program I'm doing is just gonna be working on the big compound lifts to try to get my beginner self up to speed with the weights.

How much did you run per week that makes you a twig? I do gym, but have started to add running(5k twice a week) to my workouts. Has helped a ton with my stamina. I felt like if you only do gym, you are a bulky mf, who is like a tool when it comes to running or moving in general. Mixing stuff is very fun IMO.
Also if you wanna bulk up, compound lifts are the way to go.
GL mate and try not to collect all of the PLO moneys.

liquid calories can help a lot with that

milk, oatmeal, protein powder, banana, peanut butter, if you can stomach the taste some olive oil ect.. (easier to just take that by the spoonful and not ruin your shake) protip: add ice cream at night

Can even get some pure carb powder and mix it with milk, it's not super pleasant but 2 calorie shakes + 1 carb shake a day along with a decent normal caloric intake really helps.. drink the carb shake before going to bed, carbs + casium are nice while sleeping

Had to go from 150 to 190 in college, did pretty much ^ everyday + as much food as i could stomach, maintenance calories for me were around 2.8k or so

Yeh the gainer shakes that you can get are a pretty easy way of increasing calorie uptake. With full fat milk you can get around 1000-1300 calories per shake. 3 times a day plus your normal meals. Takes a bit of getting used to and could make you a bit lethargic at the beginning but if you're like me, and don't really like eating loads, it's the easiest option imo.
