Finally becoming a winning player but have a big leak to fix advice? Finally becoming a winning player but have a big leak to fix advice?

Ok I dcided to open a new poker account on UB with the intention of fixing all my leaks and becoming a winning reg, hopefully move up into nl400 - nl1000.

I wanted to start at lower stakes and treat it like a business, each time I move up in stakes is like i got a promotion for my hard work.

I have been doing well so far for 6k hands or so I am up 7bb/100 at nl2, nl10 with a couple shots higher.

Here is my leak, I'll be playing well and reading people well winning until some guy sits down calls my 3bet pre with 74 off chases to the river and gets a miracle river to give him a straight. This should not bother me as he will eventually give me his stack. I'll say something in the chat like how the **** could you call me down with that obviously frustrated he just stacked my top two with crap. Then he will go on to say im a donk and you know where this goes.

I'll look his stats up obvioulsy he's not a winning player and I tell him that.I end up standing up cause I'm too frustrated to play optimally.

Any tips from people who have battled this before and gotten through it. I'm sure leaving the table with such a player is -ev as he will spew to me later. However I cant seem to shake the shock that someone would have called the whole hand with such bs.

Make sure you have a comfortable bankroll for the stakes you are playing, so you won't get upset if you lose a stack or two. Just remember that you made the right play, and in the long run you will make profit. No point talking to them in the chat, it will do nothing to reduce your frustration. If you can keep playing and can move to the next hand without tilt, that's great. However if you are feeling tilted it's much better to take a break, even if it's only a short one, and then come back to the table if you feel like it.

Everything I want is to play against villains who call my 3bets with 74 and chases gutters...

Yeah it happened to me yesterday, the dude had lost like 1500$ overall, i was HU with him on a 6max 10nl, he was a complete donk and I was like nice, I'll get all his money, but no. Not only he was a station, but he was connecting with EVERY board, minbetting/calling everything while i had ****, i spew'd 3 buyins to him, until i went on ape tilt monkey rage and lost my entire BR at 200plo, when the dude hit'd his 10high flush on the river.

This monster donk only made me lose my entire BR just by doing what he did to you. My advice? Don't go to war with yourself, for you are your greatest and most fearful enemy.

I guess I understand all the logic behind everything said, i fully agree with it and I have been pretty good at managing my roll aside from a couple shots at higher limits. Its more of an impulse reaction at the time. Where logic doesnt exist in that moment. Kinda like if someone hit your mom you wouldnt be logical and call the police and let it be handled the right way you would just hit them back even though you know that is not the legal way to handle the situation. Any tips on what I can do to handle the impulse reaction to the situation ?

Simple, make violence to yourself, there are no magic tricks. You need to be violent towards your emotions. But it's tough. Because no one can say it doesn't affect them when it happens; it sucks and it's torture. But there's a difference between the things you do and the things you feel.

Overall it's just like any addictions; violent yourself.

Never be rude to fish. And never never never tell them they are a losing player or quote their statistics or losses to them. If you ever move out of the micros and do this then every reg will despise you, and rightly so.

You need to develop the type of mindset where you are (relatively) unaffected by variance. Think about variance: it's the only thing which makes poker sustainable. If fish never won pots they wouldn't continue to play. Accept that part of poker is about getting bad beats. Move on. It's not easy but you have to work at it.

If you can't control yourself then use up your 10 free ptr searches a day straight away so you're not tempted to look up fish. And ask the site to ban your chat.

Yea, my next step would be to turn chat off and if that happens just get up for 10- 15 minutes and then play again.
