Nice results. Would really like you to make a deep run and this to become a sweat thread.
Yes that's the goal. Trying my absolute best to give you guys something to sweat

TY. Got Xray done today. Fortunate it's only a bad sprain not a fracture. No need for crutches and I should be fine for Vegas!
Tonight was a crappy start to poker for July. Just ran like absolute filth all night. Games were very good and I played some of the best poker of my life, so fortunately no real damage was done. Took one beyond tilting cooler at the end at 500 to end my night.
7.1 boo
The hand converter is STILL broken so I can't give you guys HH.
But the last hand of the night I sqz a decent reg otb with JJ. Fish in the sb calls. Flop QJ4 ginnnnn. Check, cbet, call.
Turn 7s bringing fd. Fish leads big. I insta jam. He snaps. QQ. ffs
So that ended poker for the day. "I don't want to play anymore".
Feel like I'm playing awesome poker. Going to play as much as possible the next few days (while my foot heals) and hopefully not too many people are away at the beach.
Another "under-EV fest for the day". Felt like I played phenomenally well again. Short term results completely out of your control. But overall happy with play/volume the last 2 days.
7.2 can't win a flip
2+2 still broken, can't convert HH...
Foot is feeling a ton better. Think I'll be up and at em by midweek. Excuse to stay in for MTTs tmrw.
I'll take the runbad now assuming I can run like god next week
Bricked ~1k in MTT buyins (**** it soooo rigged). Fortunately, my goal was to brick all my MTTs today to save my run good for the main event. I'm due to win like 4 flips in a row.
Cash went okay, but the last few hours really sucked, always a pain to finish a session on a down note
I know complaining about EV is pointless. But I'm 4k under in the last 3 days while break-even. Sucks to see "what I'm due" for all the hard work I've put in only to be even (down after MTTs). Obviously first day stuff. Should be happy I'm playing really well and generating tons of EV, but it's hard when the money keeps going to the other guy :P
Again can't post due to HH converter not working. Shame had a few good ones
I do very little (no) pure study these days. I've put in lots of time in pokerstove flopzilla over the years (I also have a very strong aptitude for math so I pick up on things quickly relating to equity pot odds range construction etc).
That said whenever I'm playing against good people I'm always in observe and learn mode. I have a lot of respect for the talented winning subgroup of my competition. I'm trying to figure out why they do particular things and how they might be taking advantage of things I'm doing.
I'll also review certain spots that I'm confused about (rare these days) and try to think about how I should be playing different parts of my range. I also don't mind experimenting with nonstandard lines or sizing just to see how it goes
hey sorry for late answer i still reading your blog just lazy to write, i guess we play together if u play on party, cant figure out your sn, if its not secret u can pm me on 2+2 iam curious who is my first coach on party, gl on tables
Played my final online session tonight before the trip out west tmrw.
Fairly nightmarish. I ended up making a small profit on "above EV". But I had so many brutal hands against whales at 400+. I also felt like I was doing tons of folding and not finding many good spots.
Obviously, when I was generating EV the last few days but running under EV, I found myself in many many great spots (but then lost the allins). So basically today, I had ****ty card distribution good all-in EV (frustrating). Whereas the other days I had good card distribution but bad all-in (also frustrating). Poker is just frustrating (except the 1-3 god sessions a month where you just win every pot).
7.4 Frustrated but at least came back
I realize I don't often post redline/blue line (not on purpose). Generally, I'm a showdown winning kind of guy and non-showdown losing. Not quite as bad as today demonstrated though. But when you're playing 400NL against guys with 30-50vpip, high 3bet%, high wwsf, and high showdown you do not win by trying to get them to fold things ever. You have to make hands to win. And when you're running well, you just print stacks against these types. But when you're not making hands, you bleed out.
Hand 1) Vrs regwhale
This guy has a 40vpip. Plays kinda agro/bad. Stationy in some spots. Overagro in others. But not the most stabby in the world. I think river can definitely be a fold, just wasn't in the mood. I kinda beat myself up in real time about this call, but if I'm right I'm really smug about it and happy (and I can certainly have the best hand sometimes). I think my hand looks a ton like TT-QQ and he's seen me call turns fold/rivers here before. Le sigh.
I can certainly cbet for value against this guy but elected to checkback to protect a checking range. I Think he's not folding bottom pair+bdfd to a half pot cbet (and of course we don't want him to fold that). And when he mashes turn and check shoves or shoves river I'm going to be in an equally painful spot.
I think PF is very good as demonstrated by the type of garbage he's calling in the sqz
Preflop: Hero is BB with A K :: ::
BTN raises to $14, SB raises to $35, Hero raises to $88, BTN folds, SB raises to $506.87 and is all-in, Hero calls $334 and is all-in
Flop: ($858) A K 3 (2 players, 2 are all-in) Turn: ($858) A (2 players, 2 are all-in) River: ($858) 3 (2 players, 2 are all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $858 pot ($1.50 rake)
Final Board: A K 3 A 3
SB showed K K :: :: and lost (-$422 net)
Hero showed A K :: :: and won $856.50 ($434.50 net)
So I thought about this hand after and I really really really think my range should be x/calling the flop. That being said this guy seemed very passive. So maybe against this particular guy I don't need to worry about balance. Anyways, not bet/folding a double gutter here.
Was hoping he went nuts with KJ of course, but obviously not in good shape vrs AQ/sets
Since this thread was the road to the main event, here's how I did since moving to NJ last July:
Spoiler:
Goals for Vegas are simple. Final table the main. Win @ cash. Mayyyybe do some social things.
I'll definitely post some cash chip porn ITT assuming I have a winning sessions. I'll let you guys know chip counts at the end of the day after I bag (yes, I'll be bagging chips every single day).
I also decided against renting a car. Didn't realize what a colossal pita it is. But if ubering everywhere sucks the first few days I'll get one. The downside is I'll be the dude with a backpack
+1 to Uber if you are just staying around the city. It's much cheaper than renting a car and you can get hammered without worrying about transportation.
