Couldn't help but play a bit more



Goals for March:

1) Mix 25nl with 10nl everytime there are good tables running at the upper limit.
3) Not looking at results til Mar, 31.
4) 20k hands minimum.

So got dealt a bigger monthly challenge (500 / 40 usd). Assuming I'll get 2 again like last month (think this usually goes at stars discretion as I had months with 4 before, and assuming my wr will improve so maybe they drop this even more in the future), 20k hands won't be enough. A quick calculation showed I need 36 points/day to clear it up, and I'll aim for 40 to be able to get some rest in the end of the month.

If anything changes, like they decide I won't get another challenge after finishing this one, then I'll reevaluate my goal. I guess I'll try 30k hands then, but will keep an eye in how many hands are enough to get 40 points and then see what I'll do.

Ended up looking at my results, omg I'm so undisciplined



Anyway, even mixing the 2 stakes (and it's not always possible as there are times 25nl is just a sea of nits), getting the challenge done in 14 days would be unsustainable and just drive me crazy. New plan is to just play 25nl and mix 10nl only if the higher game is really bad. With this I achieve a few things: 1) Force myself to play the higher level and not go back to the safety so easily 2) Not having to play poker for so long every day (remember, this is still a hobby, I have a real life lol) 3) Be more disciplined regarding how I'm playing (A-game, fully focused) + bumhunting harder than ever, otherwise achieving a decent 25nl wr will be close to impossible right now.

So, as long as I can table select good tables at 25nl, I'll only play there. If I can't, no problem: I'll be back at 10nl. And if it's 25/75, 50/50 or 75/25, I'll play both limits.

And no results til end of month (I never give up ) . Fully confident that as long as I keep the gameplan I'm using at 10nl and as long as I go full bumhunter mode at 25nl, I'll end up positive after rb. Being positive pre rb is obv my plan but ...

Hello poker friends, so ended up clearing only 1 challenge for 40 USD. Since most of my volume still was 10nl, felt it would be unsustainable to even try a second one.

Was planning a winrate challenge at 10nl for next month, but gladly was convinced to not do it, so plan for next month is 25nl only, unless tables are really really bad (may happen at 25nl). Roll is just enough and there is nothing to be particularly scared about 25nl. Level plays pretty weak tight and fish, even though in less quantity than 10nl, are still present and play at the same level imho. Would just lose motivation if I kept playing lower without needing it.

Shot didn´t go particularly well so far, so back to 10nl to regrind.

Had a bad experience staking a fellow 2p2er (for pennies, the $ value is insignificant), where the guy simply doesn´t pay me back. Whether it´s $500 or $5, ppl not paying me back affects my mental game quite a bit. Also bc I still believe the story of the guy (had 2 prior experiences with drug addicted family members trying to get better and asking for $, making promises then never paying it and always relapsing) so mad to myself by being naive and too good guy lol

Anyway, even though I don´t really need or want the money (the stake was $20 ), I've seen him asking for a 2nl stake before, so if you get approached by any such proposal ($10, $20 etc to play 2nl for a while bc poker is the only thing that makes me happy etc ), and want a quick heads up about who is the guy, send me a pm and I'll tell you, show the discord/skype transcriptions if you want, stars sn etc).

Hopefully writing this s**t in public will vent the steam, make the anger go away and I´ll get back to my normal mental game state

Just don't lend people any money. Ever. 90% of the time they won't give it back. Usually, even they themselves intend to return it at first, but then change their mind later on. I know this because 7 different people owe me money right now (more than $10k overall) and I'll probably never see a cent of that. I was told many sad stories by those people (them not having money to feed their kids, needing money for surgery, swearing to their mother that they'll return the money...), but at the end of the day, it's -EV for me to lend them money, so I don't do it anymore.

It's also not smart to stake people in general. If that guy was actually a winning player, he'd probably have $20 of his own money. He was broke because he gambled his net worth away. Don't listen to their stories. They always have excuses for why they're broke, like the homeless people on the street. But if you give them money, they won't use it to improve their lives, they'll just gamble it away or use it for booze and drugs.

At least my spider senses allowed me to not fall for it when the guy asked for a proper staking deal, even offering to send copies of documents lolol . Quickly refused it, so I´m naive but still can get away when the scam starts to look too obv

Interestingly, he can´t pay me but has the $ to buy a gtowizard sub and tell me and post about it on the UNL forum.

Yeah, the guy that owes me 6k told me at some point that he can't aford paying me back even 100€, but he then one week later took his GF to a week long vacation in Australia.

Some other guy asked me for 800€ to "feed his kids". I then saw him the next day in an undergound poker room lose 400€ within 30 min and leave. I was the dealer, so it was pretty awkward.

The guy giving you his documents is meaningless too. What are you gonna do with them? come to his home? Police won't do anything in these cases.

In an interesting and very nice turn of events, got paid

Don´t want to give any details on what I did to convince him, out of respect and honor since he ended up doing the right thing anyway, but yeah, lesson learned on staking being -EV.

Hey guys, sorry about my lack of updates. Had/having the same struggles with the move up thing (this time between 10nl/25nl), but I believe this time I´m stronger and will handle this better without having to spend years and grind 300 bis on any level

I´m also way more proactive with improving, not only upgrading my game, but doing so in a realistic timeframe. Been talking poker and thinking a lot about the game, and seriously investing in ways that I´m confident will pay off in the future.

Anyway, all of this to say that, even though I´m a small loser at 25nl lol, have no plans to move back, think my current game beats it pre rb. New goal for the year is to end it taking shots at 100nl, think as long as I run relatively ok, keep working diligently, and don´t become a bankroll nit again, it´s realistic. Rule is Clanty´s plan (watch his free vid on RIO if you didn´t), so taking shots with 55 bis and moving down with 50.

Wasn´t sure if I was going to out this here, as expectations are high and I don´t really want to move too far ahead of myself, but................

Ended up hiring a coach, already had 1 session with him a few days ago, and I can see the impact already. Won´t out anything per his request, other than he´s brazilian so sessions in portuguese lol. Underestimated it all those years, not wanting to invest significant money (for unl stakes any coach hourly is significant money ) in a game I´m really serious about, when we always need to invest ($, effort, brainpower, bravery etc) to get the rewards. Won´t make this particular mistake ever again.

Another good day for the books. Yeah, I know, even though my game upgraded quite a bit, I´m still sunrunning, and it´s in fact affecting my game in a way that I don´t really like. So, gonna use the fact that the roll is healthy and I know I beat 25nl (it doesn´t help that tables are reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally soft these 2 days) to come back to the standard game plan of not seeing results as much as possible and putting volume and work.

So, very likely I won´t post for a few days (weeks? lol), but as always I´ll be back.


Clearing 2 40 usd monthly challenges (if stars decides to allow me 2 this month) should be relatively easy btw.

You thought about moving over to 6max now you're moving up through the limits? Isn't FR dead after 25nl?

Surprisingly, it´s not dead at all. At the worst times, only 200nl+ seems a bit dead (like 3, 4 tables, so if we´re table selecting, probably won´t be able to play 4 tables).

A bit on tilt from yesterday lol, lost about 5 bis. Still up considering these 3 days in a row, but not used to swings of that size. History repeating itself I guess

Not sure if I told this here but yeah, after a while I get the desire to play 6-max, even zoom. Then I play it for a while, get bored, hate it and go back to FR. I really can´t understand how you guys can like 6-max and not like full ring, full ring so much more fun Only game I never get really tired of playing.

I can understand not liking 6max, but you must be the only guy on the planet who thinks that it's more boring than full ring Most people think playing hands rather than folding is the interesting part of poker!
