Oh, I keep forgetting to mention ITT, I'm on Twitter and tweeting a lot more this year. **** Facebook, it's really starting to annoy me now. Follow me @theginger45 for random ranting, amateur movie and TV reviews, and maybe some poker occasionally.

Side note, I had a long gym session early today and an old right shoulder injury of mine has been flaring up hugely lately. Actually gonna start impacting my ability to move a mouse if it gets worse - will have to take good care of it.

re shoulder injury - have you ever used a trackball mouse!? Logitech M570 has helped me a lot with my wrist/forearm pain.

I'm not sure how you can pass up on the main event at only $700. Sell action if you need to, it should be really juicy.

I have not used a trackball mouse, but actually it's not really using a mouse that's the problem. My shoulder's fine when I'm at the computer, it's just some other stuff that makes it uncomfortable. I had a very intense gym session today though and it feels better than it did after my last one, so working on the right muscles will hopefully do the trick.

Meh, I'm backed and if I really wanted I could probably get them to let me play the main, but I cbf with $700 of makeup tbh. It's such a high variance event. I'm running pretty bad so far this year and racking up some makeup as it is, so it doesn't seem likely I'll play it. Maybe if I bink an event between now and then.

Haha sorry bro, not this time.

Played a solid session today, happy with my volume and very happy with my play. Unfortunately I'm not happy with how I'm running, but that can't be helped. Came 11th in the Thursday Challenge on 888, 11th in a small 55fo on 888, and maybe 3/4 other finishes between 15th-30th. Cashed TCOOP-01 but got card dead ITM. Starting to regret spending so much money over Christmas lol, gotta get my grind on!

Weeeeeeee, solid day today. Shipped a small 55ko on 888 for $550 plus bounties, shipped the FTP $26 $22.5k MET for $5.7k, and came 4th in the Stars $55 $17k for $1.9k. Nice $7.5k profit overall on the day. Feels good as I was running into the top of everyone's ranges and feeling pretty crappy midway through the day.

Tomorrow and in future however, I'm gonna really cut down on tables. I've had chats with my backer today about it and the conclusion we've basically come to is that I'm wasting a lot of my edge by playing even 20 tables. Tomorrow I'll stick to 8-12 tabling, which with my monitor setup should mean I don't need any overlap at all in tables and can really focus on every spot. I can't wait to see the potential improvements it brings.

welp! saw u alot deep yesterday! grats on the scores.. had the same thing with too many tables and cut it down to 16 and felt like i'm crushing hard since then... got deep in atleast 4-5 tourneys per sessions just lets you feel good, even when the results dont go your way.

Honestly think that very few people can play more than 12 tables without giving up an edge. Just toothy dynamics to pay attention to

Yeah absolutely. I'm stoked for today's session. GLGL to you too bro, good time to bink something this month!

Haha I was actually swonging a bit before this one, had a few losing days, but it's always good to bring those spells to an end. TCOOP bink would be amazing.

Yeah, I think most people who play more than 12 tables know they're giving up an edge, they just make up for it with more volume. However, I think I've got to the point now where I'm good enough that the edge I'm giving up now outweighs the extra volume I can get, if that makes sense.

GLGLGLGL for today all!

Agree with what you're saying about table count. Volume can be/is very important but you're not push-botting (I know they're not that simple but my point stands) 180s any more and as you move up in MTTs there's so much going on that you need to pay attention to. It's a fine balance but I remember reading an interview with gboro780 where he said he only plays like 2-4 tbls at a time and if someone like him does it there must be some logic in there. Would be very interested to hear about your standard daily schedule now you're dropping so many tables.

Yeah, I think there's a certain amount to be said for the fact that guys like Gboro are playing high stakes games where the edges are thin to begin with. I certainly would never wanna play a bunch of tables if I were playing at an ABI of >$100. However, I do feel like there's sort of a threshold where if you're playing low stakes - like say, freezeouts and turbos between $11 and $55 or so - then the field sizes are such that volume really is a big concern. I certainly wouldn't advise any low-mid stakes grinder to play any less than 8-12 tables, simply because that would make it hard to play >1k games per month, and you're just never gonna really see your edge come into play at low volume.

There's also a big advantage to having played X number of tournaments by the point you get to midstakes, just for the sake of experience, and there's also value in being able to grind it out and stick to 30-tabling turbos on days where you feel tired or unmotivated or w/e, just because that's way better than either a) not playing or b) playing a bunch of MTTs and bricking them all because your thought processes have gone to ****.

In short, I think masstabling is right for some people, but at this point it's not right for me.

Alright day today, made a few small FTs and ended up around breakeven. Felt really good playing only 12 tables for most of the day (did creep to 13 at one point, damn METs) and really looking forward to doing so going forward. It feels so much more like I'm actually playing poker.

Ugh, what a tilting day. So many deep runs in big stuff that didn't come through. 288th in miniFTOPS 34, 234th in miniFTOPS main event, 19th in 11r action hour, 4th in FTP 26 6.5k, 48th in 100 turbo on .fr, 38th in hot 50 on .fr...coulda been huge. Really happy with how I played in general, probably my best session for a while, but not especially happy with my mental game at the moment. I think the more confident I get in my own game, the more I start tilting when people make obviously bad plays and suck out. This is something I want to work on.

Can't complain too much about how things are going, once I start running good there's every reason to think a lot of good results are gonna come. Just gotta be patient and wait for it to happen.

is this a protential thread I stumbled into? Try to go the other way with this one imo.. the better you get, the more experience you have, the more seasoned of a pro that you are should make it easier to deal with beats and variance. You're right, the binks are right around the corner so just move on to the next one and keep getting the best of em.

best of luck rest of the year, really impressed with your work ethic

Haha yeah I wasn't saying it was the right approach. It's just something I noticed in my initial reactions to opponents over the last few days while my confidence has been high. Definitely needs to be rectified.

Not playing great today as I feel sorta tired but got a few deepish runs going, will update later.

Got 3rd in the 10cubed on .fr tonight for around 3.4k euros. Really tilting shorthanded play, had a big chiplead and then lost A8s<K9o vs a total idiot for a huge pot. I'll take it I guess, can't say no to a profitable day. Also watched a ton of videos.

Thanks, I'm doing okay. What do you mean by status? I'll probably post a graph in here at the end of the month, but as of right now I'm honestly not sure whether I'm in profit for the year to date, if that's what you mean. My guess would be around breakeven, maybe up a little.

Today was an okay day, cashed the $215 TCOOP but couldn't get any heat in the money and lost 88<KJ to bust. Came 5th in the Hot 30 on .fr and cashed a couple others but nothing major. Watched a few more videos, starting to like downloading them and watching them at the gym.

Forgot to say in my post earlier, after all the training sites I've been getting into lately I'd really like to do more coaching. I've only done a little so far but I think it's been effective for my students, and I certainly think I have a very good understanding of what it takes to beat low stakes MTTs consistently. I also love teaching in general and since I stopped actively working as a teacher, I've been really looking forward to doing it again. If there's anyone out there who'd be interested, hit me up and we can work out a rate that suits.
