I think I got 3rd once. It's a great MTT, it's basically like a 180-man but softer. Rarely gets more than 200 runners except on Sundays.

As nice as it is to win an MTT though, I think it's important to maintain some perspective. I usually spend around $2k/day in buyins at the moment ($3k on Sundays) so when I post ITT that I've won something, that doesn't even necessarily mean I had a profitable day. It is great for my ego to have people ITT saying stuff like "OMG you're crushing" etc, but it's not really true haha.

That said, I have had two profitable days in a row which is always a good feeling. Here's to winning lots of monies the rest of the week.

Sure. No big scores for a while but I've definitely slowed the downswing with a few smaller wins.

Wow, what a weird day.

Started off really brutal, was kinda mentally uneasy as I haven't worked out in a few days (stomach injury) and I was feeling sorta tense, and that led to some tilt early on. Lost some huge flips and just generally got sodomized, until...

Started running good in the Stars 11 turbo (which I've never FTed before despite playing it like 200 times), and ended up making it to 5th in that for 1.2k to make the day only a moderate losing one. Then...

Managed to ship the 22 cubed on Stars for 5.8k! Even beat Squee451, one of the best MTTers in the world, heads-up to clinch it. It was a huge flip that did it, sure, but I don't care. It's a pretty tough tournament which a lot of regs play and I suffered a couple of pretty ridiculous beats at the FT against some massive fish that unexpectedly got there. I'm really happy with myself for sticking it out and grinding the day into a winner.

Having said that, today did bring home to me the reality that I play way worse when I haven't worked out before my session, so I don't plan to play on non-workout days in future. I ran good late on but I also made some mistakes earlier and had a few too many tables going.

The other good news is that I now have another Triple Crown sweat - after the Hot 100 on .fr on Wednesday and now this, I have another four days to win a tournament on FTP, 888 or Party. I've twice been one flip away from a Crown so it would be nice to nail one here. I can't play tomorrow as I have a friend visiting, but after shipping this one (my first 5k score in a little while) I'm stoked for Sunday.

Had my biggest losing day in poker today, around -$5.7k. Literally erased Friday's win. Bricked a ton of $109+ stuff I played, had too many tables up for far too long, and although I played well there just wasn't any reason for me to ever play that much in buyins. Ridiculous really.

After this experience I'm going to make sure I limit my daily buyins to around $2k on normal days or $3k on Sundays. I don't have any regrets about the specific stuff I played, but it just shouldn't be possible for a midstakes player to have a -$6k day. Will learn a lot from the experience. Gonna drop down to around 8-9 tables during this week, just to force myself to stay disciplined when it comes to going over my limit. I really do tend to overstretch myself on Sundays when I'm really motivated, but this is the last straw. Not happening again.

Deffo sucks when ur playing well and it doesnt quite go for u, and if u chuck in a bunch of majors it can really total up quickly

6k down is quite sick when you play midstakes. Did you play all the majors or just a marathonsession?

Pretty much a bit of both. Regged 12pm-midnight, played most majors. I played well, but it was a little extreme.

So incredibly tilted right now. Just got heads-up for a Triple Crown (in the Multi-Fifty) for the third time in around 4 months, but lost to an absolute monkey with T9 vs KK on a board of 997KA. I don't even know why I care about getting a Triple Crown, but for some reason every time I've had a sweat at one, my game has just gone to ****. I really don't know why I care so much about getting one, since those kind of achievements mean more or less zero and I should care far more about the money, but during the heads-up match it was all I could think about and I didn't give a **** that there was $2k on the line. I really don't understand that attitude and I think it speaks volumes about a lot of the insecurities I have about my poker game and myself in general. I wish I wasn't so frequently in need of validation in the form of those kinds of milestones, awards etc. It's pathetic and it's already cost me money, and will no doubt cost me more in the future if I don't curb it.

On the slightly more positive side, I stuck to 8 tables today and felt pretty good about it, but I still had all sorts of issues going on in my mental game. I think I need to do some meditating tomorrow and/or revisit some Jared Tendler ideas, as I've just been tilting and playing below my best way too often recently. I don't think I've played my best for a whole day since probably a month or so ago, and it shows in my results.

Thinking about closing my PocketFives account, since I never use the forums and the rankings/Triple Crowns etc are becoming a distraction. The only thing that matters is the money. I'm only in this game for a few years and I shouldn't give a **** how good everyone else thinks I am.

GL grinding back the sunday losses. maybe you can ship a midweek mini-crown. i like mini-crowns, those are the invisble crowns awarded for winning 3 small field MTTs with guaranteeds under 10k. I see you in the Breeze all the time.

focus on value and good game selection. the rest will figure itself out.

also dont feel too bad about losing so much on a sunday. playing a few sites the buyins can add up quickly

Aiming for a triple crown, and actually making it so close so many times, is a big achievement. It doesn't have to be about how good people think you are, just try to win it for yourself. There's always a satisfying feeling when you ship a tourney, regardless of money, just the win, as I'm sure you know. And Triple Crown would be no different. It's a good goal that your definitely capable of achieving. Roll with the punches GL

Already pre-ordered. I actually took the special offer from Jared's website of getting a signed copy if you pre-order, and I figured I might as well pick up a hard copy of the original while I was at it - when I did I was pretty surprised to get a personal email from Jared asking if I also wanted the copy of book one signed by him as well, which I did. I actually got to have a short email convo with him and tell him how much his work has helped my game, which was really cool. Looking forward to the second one.

Not sure if I'm playing tonight, if I do I still have eligibility on the Crown, but I'm not gonna let that dictate whether I play. I've managed to injure myself at the gym again (sigh, need to learn how to lift weights properly) so I'm on the fence about playing if I can't work out beforehand. Might just hang out with a buddy and play Xbox instead lol.

Got 7th in the Hot 100 on .fr tonight (KK<AQ for chiplead) and 6th in 109 Tuesday Challenge on 888 (dolt coldflats my 3bet OOP with A5dd and stacks off on K95dd to my KQ, obviously we don't hold). So burned out right now, probably won't play another hand of poker until at least Saturday. Pretty happy with how I'm playing but I really need a break.

Back after a few days off earlier in the week which I really needed and really enjoyed. I basically spent the whole time watching movies, which is my idea of an awesome few days. Also had an epic 8-hour Xbox session with a buddy of mine, finally finished a really annoying Left 4 Dead 2 co-op mission and cracked through the first 10 missions or so of a game called Army of Two, which is really good fun.

I really enjoy the time I take off from poker, and as much as I love the game itself I'm starting to feel more and more motivated to go to film school earlier rather than later. I was thinking 2017 or 2018 originally, but now I'm thinking 2016 or even 2015 if I can afford it. I've been looking at MFA courses at places like UCLA and NYU and they just look amazing. Once I can afford it, I'm there.

Anyhow, poker-wise today was nice. Got 3rd in the Benjamin on FTP which is a tough tourney, and also made day 2 of the 100eur Saturday Night tourney on .fr, which has live seats to France Poker Series added to the FT. Going into tomorrow 20/58 with around 48bb and 45 places paid, should be good.
