gl op where are you from? I never ended up going to an MLG event because COD4 had no lan, but I was one of the top players back when I was 17. Just started getting into black ops 2, gaming is a big part of poker players past!

also did you ever playe SC2 against any of the top Canadian players, like Ostijoy, huk or scarlett?

Very nice. Something about successful gamers seems to make them very good at poker... All the good WC3 and Dota players I bump into on poker are winning midstakes or highstakes players. wobbly_au is one guy who was like a semi decent WC3 player and is now a mid-highstakes pro earning well into 6 figures per year. Best of luck!

Nice run OP. I remember playing with you some at 4NL this year. Don't recall ever being happy about it either LOL. Just found this thread and getting a little jealous... I'd be right up there with you at 10NL right now, but ran super bad my first 10NL shot and haven't had much time to play this month. Have ~ $50 I need to win before taking another shot at 10NL.

I used to play Starcraft a couple hours a day for 4 years straight when I was a kid. Only did a little bit of PVP though. I definitely believe that spending a lot of time on starcraft, counterstrike, and diablo has influenced my desire/ability to play poker a ton.

Good luck at the tables and hope to be running into you up there soon (not that I will be looking to!)

yeah i think theres a lot of similarities in mindset things from both games so it transfers over nicely, i remember wobbly au from wcreplays i think and heard how hard he was crushing and saw some of his graphs crazy stuff

Sweet thread man. I was a sports gamer and still am but I also used to GB pretty hard back in the CoD 4 and Halo 2/3 days. How much did you deposit on Merge? I put 20 on before I knew anything real about poker or BRM ran it up to 40. And degen'd it on an 0 for 6 sports betting streak. I dont even know if I will bother redepositing again or just try to bink something in the end of the month tourneys. Currently at 4 dollars lol

Subbed and Good luck!

PSB on flop = $2.40 in pot on the turn, PSB on turn = $7.20 in pot on the river which makes it easier to shove the river without overbetting/having an awkward stack size. The extra 1 or 2bb here and there can make a big difference and is very useful to learn when starting out.

GL and very good start, keep it up

Really interesting to see more people that play Starcraft 2 moving to poker. It's tough as you are in USA but I think most pro gamers absolutely crush SNGs. If you can get out of the US definitely consider it. I spent my teenage years playing mostly CS -> WoW -> SC2 and then moved on to poker. I think lots of poker players have done this. Never played those games professionally though.

Will be following the thread though keep up the grind. Lots of the skills that make us good gamers carry over to poker

Ooh just found this thread, I am former SC2 player in US playing on merge now too so it is interesting to see someone in a similar spot. I think we've played at the tables, probably in sc2 as well.

GL sir I will be following this thread.

yeah thats the plan.. to leave US but still long ways away its rough, it is pretty crazy how many gamers play poker or switch to it even seems like tons of sc players i knew all played poker too

yeah i want to try hu/sngs and other things eventually but id imagine im going to burn quite a bit of money on learning them so i think im just going to wait a bit longer

LOL i was so surprised when i won this hand but this guy is a reg and we were having a dick waving war in hu in a 6max game seemed to be 3 betting me light and whatnot beforehand and saw him do a few bluffs like this postflop so i decided to float with bd nut fd and gutshot

Nice hand overall. You got villain to make some mistakes and just plain play his hand bad. Why bet so small on the turn though? You floated his flop check-raise to try and take down the pot on the turn correct? How are you going to accomplish that with a 1/4 pot sized bet?

Also, I have to laugh at myself every time I look at your last graph. Makes me realize how foolish I was taking a 5 buy-in shot at 10NL.
