Sup all, I said a few days back I would start a thread here...so...here it is!Don't really know where to start...let's go back to the beginning...

When I first started playing online, I dabbled in all types of games, played way underrolled, was generally a terrible player, and did all those awful things new players do. After busting a couple deposits, I decided to do more research and study on the game, as well as deciding to find a game that works for me. That's what brought me here. It's been about 6 months. I've found that game, 18 man turbo sngs on stars, but tilt problems had prevented me from having a roll that stuck until recently. About 2 months ago, I got gifted $10 (inadvertently, but I paid it back + interest, no worry) which I used to grind 18 mans (way underrolled but screw .25 sngs lol). I didn't hit a downswing, and at its peak my roll was at about $150. Steady enough growth for a few hundred games at the $1.75 level. All's well, right? Wrong!

This is when I decided to step away from my strengths and start playing cash. I didn't play over my limits save once or twice, but me being a massive fish, running terribly coldly (8 BI under EV in just a 700 hand span for example), and being a massive fish (did I say that already?) converged in a bad way. So...long story short, I have a fresh $50 (actually, $52.41 due to a little play), and with that I have the starting roll for my challenge.

By the end of the summer, my goal is to be rolled sufficiently to play the $16 18 man sngs on PS. I also will not move up until I have at least 50 BI for the next level. I will not play any cash in this time (I may throw in some mtts or other sngs if I'm well rolled). Finally, I wish to be able to play 20 tables comfortably by the end of this challenge. I'm not sure I can accomplish any of these (except the no cash play one), but this thread will chronicle my attempt and results.

More short term, I hope to be able to play $3.4s sufficiently rolled by the end of May. I also hope to up my table count from 8 to 10 within that span (I can play 8 tables comfortably now). Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy.

woops, u actually wrote that lol, try playin with tableninja and play as much as u can. I used to play 25-30 at once 1$ 9 man sng's, it was nice grind as far as i remeber

I'm not really a fan of table ninja...but I do have AHK scripts to auto reg me and to close busted games I also stack tables. I've played more than 10 in the past and managed but not really all that comfortable doing it.

About to put in 40 games now I'll update how it goes when I'm done.

I ran an additional set of 9 games after graph posting in which I lost a couple bucks. I started the day running quite hot, ended not running particularly cold but on the wrong side of pretty standard situations (shoving A9 into AK 4 bb deep etc.). I know I can beat these games (although not at the rate of my first 21) at a decent clip. There's a possibility I'll get some backing to move up to $3.4 and maybe in the future $6.5, but nothing on that front is solid yet. Once or twice today I was tempted to go play some 6max nl but I resisted the urge I don't think I'll be able to get many games in this weekend unfortunately...I'll probably only get 10 or so (1 set) in tomorrow and can't play at all on Saturday. We'll see where it goes. Until next time!

going to do a $70 deposit to give me 40 BIs for the 1.75 18 mans, and try to build up a roll from that to make some money on the side while back at school

Been a breakeven/marginally losing player in the past, hoping to turn that around and really try hard to get better at the game (the only thing I've been profitable at is 2NL haha)

Well...here's an update. Haven't really been playing much lately, but when I have it's been a bizarre mic of games including some mtts, 18 man sngs, HU sngs, and razz cash. I've never been much of an mtt player, but it's a part of my game I need to strengthen. MTTs can be fun and very profitable, and I guess you've gotta start somewhere. Had a couple cashes (and the decent run in the above tourney), but nothing close to a big score

. I've also put out some stakes which haven't gone too well...the HU sngs I've been beating at a decent clip, but I doubt it's something I could do fulltime. They've actually helped me in the limited amount of 18 mans and mtts I've played; I'm definitely improving at finding good spots to double and triple barrel.

Despite about breaking even in my play, some stakes haven't gone particularly well (as mentioned) and so my roll is sitting at $62.12

I plan to stop staking and cut out mtts I'm underrolled for (maybe play $1.1r and $2.2 freezeout tourneys tops) as well as shooting for silverstar in June. By the end of June I also hope to be playing the $3.4 18 mans...classes are ending soon, so I feel this is very achievable.

Bit of an overdue bump

Hit a bit of a downer and the roll was down to about $30 or so. Went away for the weekend, hardly played at all. In the little I did play, I took my roll back up to $40ish. Then today I finished 6/2900 in a $3.3 mtt for $300 and so now my roll is sitting at 332.16

I need to step back and reevaluate some things. I could definitely grind the $3.4 18 mans (not the $6.5s until I have a good sample at the $3.4s) for a while, but I've been having some decent runs (although my first nice score today) in micro MTTs and over the summer I may have time to play a schedule of $5.5 and below and maybe stabs at the 1/4 milli.

In addition to this I've been playing a fair amount of HU sngs (the 1.07 and 2+.14 euro ones on Stars) with some decent success. Why play the Euro HU sngs? The rake is substantially less (7% vs 10%) and the turbo structure has 5 minute blinds as opposed to 10 minute reg speeds. Now that I hit a decent score I can move up to the $6.25 turbos on stars...It's the first level of turbo sngs in USD that are available there, I'll probably set 10 BI or so aside and see how I feel playing those.

D000d, you never told me how you finished in that 3.30$ mtt, well done dude!!

Now we can grind the same level again haha :P
