Still think you’re wasting time grinding online as you can beat midstakes. That skill ability easily = over a quarter million yearly salary grinding live bigger games.

California casino games aren’t tough to beat even with high rake.

I agree but I don't think I'd enjoy grinding live cash that much

As well my bankroll is lower than it has ever been due to expenses and loans what not, sitting at 30k only need to play 200+500

I find that the 200-400nl games on ACR can actually be quite soft if you bumhunt. On good tables you can get 1-2 fish, some of which quite punty. The rake is also like effectively 1.5bb/100 which is absurd.

Currently I'm playing global as my main site, and adding tables from ACR and have a good groove going.

First week of officially playing for CFP, playing about 1/2 1/2 ACR and Global, Global is untracked but about -300.

Very annoying as I am playing focused, implementing their strategies, finding soft tables, but no results. I guess they will come eventually.

Mental goes to results orientated that quickly? Go for a walk or something and leave behind feeling annoyed, that state of mind probably is not +EV.

You're good. Nice EV line. Villains are going to make mistakes in those spots it looks like down the line. Big upswings incoming? GL!

its pokerwithriske not bitb, I tried bitb but they want US regulated pools. I've learned a fair amount the first couple weeks though at PWR and think it will be fruitful. BitB I imagine would ask for a higher profit split and want more control over the pools I'm playing in so there are benefits in being in a less "prestigious" CFP. And the head coaches of PWR are for the most part crushers

Hey thanks for the kind words, was just in a rough spot and super busy with a bunch of things so poker was eating at me but, financially, it's no big deal, the lessons learned are 100% more valuable.

As a semi-important update to the thread, although not entirely poker related, I've decided to put off going pro for the next 1-2 years. I plan to graduate uni (in 2 years) and try out traveling the world, playing high stakes. That's my goal at least.

Playing midstakes, 5-6 hours a day as a pro is not really appetizing for me considering my situation and job prospects after college, which is part of the reason I joined a CFP. I'm willing to sacrifice a ton of immediate EV in order to get to 2knl+ by the end of college with ideally 250k+ bankroll. I have about 2.5 years to realize that goal which I think is 100% feasible. The long term plan to do this is to dedicate 25hours a week to poker and about 40 hours a week to college/internships/etc, with about 1/3 study and 2/3 play ratio. The short term plan is studying super hard and trying to beat 200nlblitz for 3bb+ by the end of 2023, as well as growing my bankroll playing on global poker. But really since my profits are taken it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to max grind soft games that I was already beating, instead playing tough games and becoming the best player I can be is much more important. By the end of the CFP in a year I want to have 3-4bb+ at midstakes pools on ACR, which are probably the toughest games out there. This will allow me to "truly" travel the world - it means I can make six figures playing any global, segregated, live, MTT pools etc. if I put in the volume and study. The way I see it if I can make 3-4bb+ at 1-2knl by 2026 I will basically never have to do a normal job.

Hoping to hear an update soon. I also got in contact with PWR a bit back for CFP/coaching and curious to see what you think since your last post.

I'm looking to get back into it though, going to start studying again and playing daily. My bankroll isn't the highest it has ever been but now that I'm not relying on my poker income, I can shot a lot more aggressively. I am playing 200 on GG again (literally started yesterday), and plan to move up to 500 once I win 25 buy ins, and move up again to 1k once I win 25bi there. If I can prove myself at 1k+ in the next year or so, there's a very real chance I will forego getting a job after school and simply grind 1-2 years, try and play all the big stops that I dreamed about when I first got into poker. The ratrace of academics + work etc. has made me realize that this is the only time in my life that I can really do something like poker and take it seriously.

I think after finals in a couple weeks I will start posting again somewhat regularly, for the meantime I'm only playing 2-3k hands/wk.

I'm also no longer in PWR due to my inability to put in volume. To be honest, the month or so I was there I wasn't super enamored. If I played their required volume in a year and assuming I would improve a bit, I was giving them almost 40-50k worth of EV. For that I got some of their default CFP materials which weren't amazing imo, and the coaching I did was very rudimentary, stat checker type stuff. Not really delving into deep in theory. It makes much more sense for me to do something like weekly coaching sessions with a previous coach who was ~200$/hr, think it would provide the same or better value at 20% of the cost.

I think if you were at 50nl or so getting their default gameplan would improve your game a lot, but for me I couldn't justify it.

When you say you got 10% and 13% affl rakeback, does that number come from the affiliate alone? Do you mind sharing your affiliate/recommending one?

Yes from affiliate alone. The advertised rate was 35% I think but there is PVI. I can share someone if you DM me.

Right now I'm really busy, but I'm thinking to start playing a lot of poker again soon. Considering trying to get into some of the NYC private games and growing my bankroll from there. Will post with some updates if I do this. In the meantime will just be playing part time 10/15hrs per week and take it more seriously in the spring.
