I felt so many times the need to update this thread. It was my first public challenge, and I remember I was enjoying the process, and the motivation that brings. Somehow I abandoned it for ages. My last post, reminds me why. The reason was live poker. I remember that I was so impressed about how soft live poker is. I still have this feeling to be honest.
As a quick recap, the pro covid years, 2017-2019 I was play at my local live games, 1/2 or below mostly. I felt safe with the variance and the bankroll I had back then, and continued grinding. Between 2018 and 2019 I was traveling abroad to play and I was really excited even for 1/2 games. Felt like I could make 2x the money abroad than playing in Greece. Actually I still believe a living from living poker is still achiavable from 1/2 games even in 2024.
During all this journey, I never lost the touch with online poker. Competition was always runing in my blood. I still believe it's the best teacher and I don't know if I'll ever quit playing online. The options, the flexibility to play whenever and from wherever you want is a massive advantage.
In late 2019, I managed to go to US for first time, with a staking deal. I gained a massive boost of experience playing 2/5, as I was not so experienced playing this stake till then, except from some succesful shots till then. Moving up in stakes is most of the times a struggle for most players. The guys I went together where great guys and much better players and I learned a lot from them.
In 2020 covid hit and I had to come back to online. The first months was the softest games I've seen in my life. Crazy results were achiavable, even around 15bb/100 in nl50. My results were not fantastic but I was happy and satisfied being a winner at nl50. games were feeling like another poker boom is happening. After the first months, my results was not great and I was feeling a bit stuck around nl50. I had break even and even losing months. I realised than many other players had the same results, which meant the impact of staying at home because of covid had impacted a lot how soft was the games. So I decided to join a CFP program. I improved my game and continued my journey mixing with live poker again around mid 2021.
I can recommend to anyone who want to improve faster, programs like that. The guys still offering coaching for those who might be interested, so I will give some more info here. The head coach is
metal_ouda and it's called now
Cash Game Crushers.
Around 2022, live grind at 2/5 mainly started. Travelling the world last 2 years, being in US 2 extra times, UK, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic and some more poker destinations, visiting new places during events like EPT, or even going somewhere to grind off season. UK used to be my favourite place for many reasons and I was spending a lot of time there last years.
Counting around 100k winnings in live poker I can't be anything than satisfied.
Never giving up my relationship with online poker, I managed to have healthy winrate around 4bb/100 at nl100 at a reliable sample. So I felt like it was time to close this thread, many times last 2 years, as the name of the challenge was n10 to nl100, but I was too lazy and I was procrastinate it all the time.
At the moment my main grind stakes are nl100 online and 2/5 live, but I'm playing a bit of nl200 online, and 5/10 live when a good opportunity apears. Results are not great so far at these stakes but the sample is small so I'm fine with that. Also I'm not investing my time in poker full time nowdays as I used to do. It was a slow process so far all these years but I don't regret it. Poker is still alive, live and online. Put something in your mind, and you can achieve anything you want. And don't forget to never give up if you really want it.
