Nah, June for sure!.. or maybe July..

Spoiler:
Really though, June! I'm already playing a bit here and there but mainly just testing some stuff out, making sure I'm not a complete ******, and getting "more recent" hand histories to work with... If I don't have a graph up ITT by 30 June I will ship you $0.01

I appreciate the encouragement too! It was actually a pretty tough decision to, well, "get going." I'd never been outside of the USA before and really hadn't even been outside of the Northwest too much, so moving all the way to the opposite side of the planet was a pretty big decision for me! It hasn't been without its hiccups but overall I'm very happy with the decision I made and I've still got 10 months left here to get awesome. Happy to have you following along!

Thanks dude!

I'm actually originally from a bit east of Portland alongside the Columbia River, but I've spent several years living in Salem and most recently Portland haha. I actually know heaps of people going to school in Eugene, kind of funny I had no idea you were from there!

Now, this is probably going to be a bit embarrassing but I'm not too sure who Boliver is!

Thanks for the extension recommendation as well, I knew there were ways to get around it but couldn't be arsed to do the research and find a way that works, will check that out!

GL and have fun with the trip back home!

He's a 9m hyper/mtt reg who posts in a lot of pgc threads. He used to live down in Rosa and he's pretty big into skateboarding. Just thought you might have come across him at some point.

You a soccer fan at all? People going nuts down there for the World Cup?

Hi sir,
Are you playing 30's already? I've played ~1500 15's over last few days, they seem pretty beatable, espesh once when other regs start to table select you a bit. But I'm not enough confident to shot 30's yet, maybe after 5-6k games if I'll still have positive roi, any suggestions?

glgl! Will follow you!

Ah sick, will have to get in touch with him! Didn't realise how many skateboarder/poker player combos were out there.

As far as football (I've been corrected on this too many times haha) goes, it doesn't seem so much like everyone is going nuts about it as it is that if you are an Australian and don't know what's going on, you're nuts. I get a pass since I'm an American haha.

Nope! Not playing $30s yet as graph below illustrates hahaha. $30s are still a bit "sick" by my standards. I definitely don't think I would be +EV there quite yet. For obvious reasons haha. But yeah man, if you've got a b/e redline at $15s over 5k-6k games, definitely take some shots! Just forget that it's money that you're losing

Anyway, like I mentioned at the top of this post I wanted to hold off on updating the thread until I had some poker-related content to post.

Played an epic session last night, so figured it was time!

Yesterday's graph:

[x] ???

Anyway, will be making updates quite regularly from here on out. This is officially the "go" post.

Wishing everyone GL and trust me, I will have better graphs to show soon

GL sir.

Also a piano player - self-taught - def make a small list of exactly what you are trying to get out of lessons and make it clear with the instructor that you want to stick to that. I think people who are self-taught give themselves a bad rap sometimes because they didn't go through what others would consider a traditional learning path. But there are many, many professional musicians who cannot read a note of music (e.g. Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Irving Berlin). So if you are taking lessons to better learn how to read, but you can already learn songs by ear (which is actually quite a skill in itself), you will probably end up slowing down your development. Try to find an instructor who can help you become an even better learner by ear and who can teach you technique without sheet music. Just my opinion.

I would say GL, but that implies that i want you to run well, and for that to happen you have to play games... That there lies the lies the problem, the playing of the games!

Get onto it man!

One of the biggest regrets that one of my U.S buddies had, was when he went out of the U.S to 'play poker/travel' he didn't spend enough time at the tables, he didn't give himself that chance to be able to stay out of the U.S cause by the time he was getting towards the end of the visa, his cash was getting low and he was stuck in between a rock and a hard place, not playing high enough to be able to fund himself.

1 year is a longgggg time, that will fly by so quick, the year i spent in thailand just flew... make sure you give yourself a chance to be able to continue your fun, by actually getting those games in.

Thanks for the advice man! Really appreciate it. I'm looking to buy a legit(ish) digital piano within the next 2 weeks or so, hoping I'll be able to practise a minimum of 30 minutes every day, and at that point I've decided I'll begin lessons. Surely I have the time haha. (and I've decided on an instructor as well!)

Sure enough man! I've been in Australia nearly 4 months and I think I've just now hit 100 games played. Bit pathetic! I'm not too disappointed with myself though because I'm alright as far as cash goes and I know I'm capable of putting in 300+ games/day just as soon as I feel a bit more comfortable with everything. I've been studying what I have access to quite hard and I'm thinking about nabbing up Jackal69's course (http://yourdoompoker.com/testcourse....d&courseId=241) as well and running through that as well. After that, I think I'll be ready!

I know it seems a bit unbelievable at the moment but in my mind there is no way I finish this year with fewer than 300k VPPs and I'm confident I'll be a regular at the $30s by December as well.

Hopefully not overconfidence... although most likely

I will definitely be getting my games in soon enough though!

Idk man, from 0 to 300/day just like that you think hey... so to start with your going to get through about 27/hr, unless you plan on pushing out just ****ty games, to start with you are prob going to be 4 tabling, marking hands like a mad man and really thinking about every spot right?

Also when you get to the point that your starting to add more and more tables unless you have played that situation time and time again, your going to have to think about it for a second, this takes time and your brain is going to fatigue quicker. So 1 limiting the amount of tables you can play and 2 limiting the amount of hours you can play before your brain is like stuff this i'm out!

Honestly you don't have to take a course for these, all you need to do is put in the hours. That is what makes any good hyper player good. Cause they have put in the hours of quality play with the Right! study. Learn your ranges, relearn your ranges, learn how to adjust and just start putting in the games.

My friend was the same when he came over to thailand, he was like 'I got money for dayzzzz' but hypers are a cruel mistress, just cause you can play well, doesn't mean that you are going to make money, the amount of games you need to play is stupid to start to work through variance. You know a few players that can CRUSH the 30's, but haven't made money in them yet, imagine going a few months where your redline is slowly going up but your greenline is not so slowly going down.

I have a feeling that your setting yourself up to follow in Poni's footsteps, he's now burnt out, where you have players like paul who the poker gods hate with a passion who is able to just keep grinding through it cause he has good goals.

I really hope that you do do well in these and can set yourself up so you can avoid going back to the U.S.

Don't remember if I ever replied to this via Skype so will reply here! I appreciate the advice about just playing and getting a move-on basically. I've been studying a bit more lately and I'm picking it up big time. I did decide against the course and have just been continuing to work on reviewing hands in ICMIZER.

Also adopting the "no zero day" philosophy. Figure that can't possibly be a bad idea. Basically the idea is that you don't go a single day without doing even just one tiny thing to move yourself closer toward accomplishing some goal. I've had plenty of days here in Australia so far where I haven't played a hand of poker or have played but didn't do a proper view. Obviously I have a lot of things I want to accomplish during this 12-month stay in Australia so I really shouldn't be going a day without working my ass off anyway.

Here is my latest "full day" graph:

About to put another study session in and then play some more. Also looking for a permanent place/place to stay for the rest of the time I am in Australia and I'm sure once I get into that place it will be easier to achieve both my poker-related and non-poker-related goals.

Will probably do a YTD recap within the next week. Will have some better news.
