3.5 hour mtt session, 2 min cash, 5th in a small event. Games were so awesome. But, I played poorly. Damn hangoveraments.

As far as playing mtts long term.. doesn't seem like a great gig relative to PLO. If you play all the $20+ events on bovada from 1-6 you can get ~$1k in Buyins.. average 9 hour grind @ 50% ROI.. for $50/hr? Pretty weak. Also, for an ABI of $50 in these games you should have ~50k-100k BR. You can get $50/hr playing NLH live with half the bankroll.

I'm gonna take the 5th/6th off in prep for a 2 week grind starting the 7th.
1/10 the bankroll

btw the only cooler hookah place I've been to that tampa was in vegas.

Arrived in Costa Rica. It's so humid. My spanish has gone from horrible to nearly non-existent. Hotel is really nice for $40. Bovada seems to load up, so it looks like I'll still be playing those events. Getting organized tmrw.

So, Im staying outside of a small town in a remote area in Costa Rica. There are still some tourists, but its mostly quiet around here. Im staying in a cottage-like home in Costa Rica with a friend and the owner/his gf. They are gone for the weekend, so its just me and Zac in the house. It's literally a minute away from a beautiful beach. I wish I could show you pics, but I cant easily...

Yesterday I was playing some pokers and my computer decided to die. It froze up, I shut down PT4 and powered down, and it will not power back up. It broke at possibly the worst time it could have in the last year. SCOOP is going on and Ive sold action. Ive tried safe booting and it wont work.

The best solution I can find is a 12step guide involving tinkering with the insides. First step, open the computer. Naturally, there are no screwdrivers in this house, so I had to find some tools. I found some knives and started tinkering away at the screws. I got 90% of them.. But, there was a triangle-shaped screw holding down the battery which would not succumb to my knife. I decided to go searching for tools underneath the house during the thunderstorm...

Its pitch-black out. I have a little flashlight to guide me around. I'm praying the jaguars and malara-bees will leave me alone for just a few minutes. I cant find anything resembling a toolbox. I decide to give up and go back inside. As I'm walking inside, my friend leaves the house. He closes the door behind him. Then he looks horrified and says 'I think I may have ****ed us'. Yup, he did. The door automatically locks and the keys are inside.

So, here is the situation: We are locked outside in the middle of the night during a monsoon in a remote area in Costa Rica. Ughhhh. We took some time to think about the best solution. By far, the best solution is to break back into the house. There is a small tin roof about 6 feet below the kitchen window. My friend is about 50 pounds lighter than me, so, its on him to climb the poorly supported roof. He climbs up and I slowly guide him along what looks to be the best support beam to the window. The roof is a bit shaky, but seems like it can support him. He gets to the window, which just so happens to be locked. I find a broomstick and he proceeds to jam the window lock on the inside until it finally opens.

Now, to get in the window. Unfortunately my friend who is much lighter than me is also much weaker than me. He tries without luck to boost himself up into the window. I find a chair for him to climb. Doesn't work. Step-stool.. Doesn't work. I find some buckets and empty them out, and stack them. It looks like it might work. I give him the bucks and he lays them on the roof. They barely stand upright, but this is our best bet. He slowly climbs them and makes the leap of faith through the kitchen window. He gets most of his body in and pulls himself in. Yeyeyye!!

It was sort of stressful, but fun adventure. I lucked out and get to use my Hosts 2.93GB Ram computer until they get back. Its all spanish and slow, but I think its still playable.

As for my computer... I think the best choice to get a new one. I can fix this later and try to sell it on CL. This laptop has given me a myriad of issues and is 4 years old. I'm going back to windows. I suspect I will be paying $100-$200 vig for a small town CR laptop.

Best post of the thread so far. Amazing experience IMO. Standard variance for a PLO grinder.

DAMN. I admit, until now I've always believed that the threat of jaguars attacking online poker players was greatly exaggerated. I figured it was just another line that parents use to convince their kids to quit playing, like, "they have software that shows your hole cards", or "the other players are all bots", or "light 3-betting can lead to pancreatic cancer". But this is for real.

Jaguars! Who knew?

Ty, Im glad to hear this. I decided it was a good chance to write something enjoyable for readers. Ive been using this thread mostly as a journal, which is really useful for me, but mundane for followers. I think with these types of adventures its better if I invest a bit more effort into my writing so I can provide value for readers.

Haha, they are a pretty minor threat in the área Im staying. I think they stay pretty deep in the forest. Im near a paved road that gets 1-2 cars per minute.

The Jaguar rescue center is in the same province as me. I want to check that out this week. The reviews on tripadvisor are stellar.

The real threats in these parts are tilted monkeys and malara-bees.

Some pics:

mmm Beach

I came down with a case of mango mouth

Coffee.. Costa Rica style

I think tmrw is the best day for me to go to the Jaguar rescue center. Supposedly, Tuesdays suck for MTTs. Gonna get my grind on today. Seeing how Ive got anhilated the last few days at $50ABI I will drop it down to 30.

Thank you for the kind words! I had a Calgary stint back in mid Feb. I really enjoyed my time around that área. Games are good, too.

SCOOP is going meh. Im about even at this point as far as results. But, I have a big goose egg as far as cashing in anything major. I seem to final table a third of my sub-$15 BI events swithout paying much attention to the table. Conversely, I bust larger BIs way before the money.

Most of my winnings this scoop comes from swapping a $109 event and my buddy final tabling.

I have crushed volume. Averaged 8 hours over 8 days.

Im not missing the cash grind, but planning on crushing volume during WSOP. Not sure if bovada cheque cashed. I deposited it at the teller, everything seemed fine. Bovada payout thread seems to indicate payouts are going smoothly.. unless that changed very recently..

I think Zac has Dengue fever. I really hope I didnt get it. Our host is a physician and he thinks its the most likely diagnosis. Blood test tomorrow.

The PLO MTTs are lol-great. Many fish and a few weak regs. I{m going to try and Schedule my day tmrw around plo events. I can get 17 plo mtts in tmrw regging between 9am-3pm. I think I can add in around 17 high value nlh events and a few satties. At 40 mtts and 25 ABI 30-35% ROI is only $40hr after RB
