Doesn't look like you can receive PM's yet but I'll see if I can find you at the plo tables when I put in a session after the gym.

Blah had one of those not fun days where you can't hold in a single pot. Tried to battle through it as I had some good fish action hu but lost AA to AKo aipf for 300bb pot after board ran out 7810QJ and that was the final straw for me. Still up 4kish on the month and plenty of time to run better and put together a decent month. Back at it tomorrow!

Meh more of the tough beats unfortunately. Still up about 3k for the month and a nothing swing for the stakes im playing. Got it in way ahead in basically every big pot the last couple days so not much I can do there. Definitely should have saved a little bit of money making tough but easy folds in 2 of the pots I played today. Making those folds is in my control, variance isn't.

On the gym/exercise front I've been very dedicated and gone basically every day so far but saturday. So happy with that although eating wise still plenty of room for improvement.

Gym/maybe golf tmrw and then back to the grind!

It happens man. I suggest getting the program setup I have so you can track everything, including AIEV etc. Will probably make you feel alot better during downswings etc.

Yeah I import all my hands into pokertracker so I can track it all. In terms of the downswing I don't really mind it (not that I wouldn't prefer to have my ev back hah). It's not very many buyins and most of it has come from losing a few 80/20s and similar type of stuff. I'm pretty used to it after 10 years of swinging up and down on an almost day to day basis. Not that I never get frustrated but I'm pretty good about not letting it ever spill over into effecting my mood for more than a minute or two.

Been on a nice little 15 buyin ish downswing the last week or so. Could definitely have played better in some spots but definitely been running pretty awful. Hopefully get a little heater going for the last week of the month. Don't think I'm gonna be able to make the trip to florida due to a family obligation so looks like it'll just be some online volume and a foxwoods trip or two before the end of august.

Recouped about 1/3 of the downswing over the last couple days. Hopefully can keep that heat going. I'll post a PT screenshot closer to the end of the month.

Been very good about going to the gym/playing golf/doing active ****. That's never been the hard part for me though. Still doing pretty crappy on the eating though. The food I'm eating isn't THAT unhealthy or anything (not like im eating mcdonalds/taco bell or whatever) but it's far from optimal and I could also be saving lots of money as well by cooking my own food. The thing holding me back is definitely the lack of confidence in my cooking skills. Just like with anything in life though I'm not going to magically become a decent cook just like I didn't magically get good at a sport or learn to use a hud or whatever. Gonna have to force myself through that initial phase of uncomfortability and just be willing to **** up at the beginning. May do some small freerolls in here soon if I think it'll be extra motivation.

Get a crockpot and use youtube for training vids. Pretty sure you can get a decent one at Walmart for like $30-40.

Baking is also quite easy once you get the hang of it. Like I know very little about cooking but bake chicken/fish with different seasonings all the time.

Once you really get in the habit of cooking/eating it gets hard for you to eat unhealthy. Like I can't eat fast food anymore it makes me sick.

My crockpot is what got me to finally start cooking something other than pasta at home. It's so easy. It's the only way I can get myself to cook veggies, and it turned my eating habits around. The energy difference is staggering. Now, pasta and other empty carbs just make me super lethargic.

Gl with your goals and crushing. I play 400nl-1knl on bovada too, and actually am on a similar downswing as yours right now. Gl with tarzan swinging out of it!

I cook quite a bit and love good food. You definitely wanna get yourself some good pots, pans etc.. dont be too cheap when buying these things as it is very important to have quality cookware. Also I would suggest stocking up on spices/seasonings.

I do a lot of chicken or shrimp alfredo pasta, steaks (get a cast iron skillet), lots of fresh sauteed veggies, enchiladas are easy too, tacos and burritos are another easy but very good dish, baking chicken is another one and you can try all sorts of different flavors with chicken, so have fun with it.

Cooking good food is one of the most rewarding things for me personally. Obviously its not gonna taste like Bobby Flay cooked it when you first start but its still better than fast food and most ****ty restaurant chains. I found that if you just follow recipes its kindve hard to just completely screw up the dish. GL

Also +1 to not being able to eat fast food once you get in the habit of cooking. Once you start throwing out some really good tasting dishes, fast food and even some restaurants will make you gag thinking about them.

My strategy: eat whole foods precooked meals and or chipotle everyday. Reasonably healthy, and you can invest time saved back into the grinddddddddd

+1 to surprising yourself and even cooking better than restaurants.

It really is rewarding and you'll amaze yourself once you get into the swing of things.

For example my gf isn't feeling well tonight, I went to "all recipes" and typed easy chicken noodle.

First one that came up took a little veggie chopping and 20 minutes in the pot and it's awesome.

Plus you look like a ****ing boss when you make homemade chicken noodle for your sick gf.

Yeah it definitely would be beneficial to know how to cook. Time to push through the pain.

Nice thread. The first real skill difference I noticed on Bovada was the move from 200 to 400. Not exactly more difficult, just different.

Have you been to Jersey at all? The online action down their seemed ok.

Gl with getting healthy and working out. I recently started getting back into shape and I really think it helps me mentally during sessions.

Thanks. I go to jersey a bunch as I have some friends there and I make some trips to Borgata to play live. The online action there is decent but not worth moving for imo. And being in better shape def helps the mental game.

OP, how do you deal with a short stack fish to your left that play 40/5? Do you tighten up and steal less? Do you steal more and try to get stacked as the fish is prone to stacking lighter?

Hey sorry to leave you hanging for a couple days. I typed out a response to this a day or two ago but I must have never submitted it lol.

Just because a fish has certain stats pf doesn't mean that they all play the same way postflop, and that of course will have an effect on how you should deal with them going forward. Pay attention to when the fish is playing hands even if you aren't in the hand and make a note to yourself how loosely they are continuing after the flop. In general though this type of opponent should be very easy for you to beat. They are going to be calling with a lot of hands that you are going to dominate no matter what position you are opening from. Just make sure you are taking advantage and getting full value.
