Don't plan on playing any more hands this month so just going to summarise.

Started off with a big downswing this month but managed to almost break even then a small downswing recently.
Overall fine with this as I did not have to redeposit.

Stats:

3bet has stayed at 8%, this is because I've been using GTOwiz BB ranges which flats more than I used to especially BBvSB where I used to 3b more. I think 8% is fine at these stakes.

Flop Agg% = 39.4
Turn Agg% = 31.4
River Agg% = 26.4

I was trying to increase river agg% but always chickened out of bluffing because I just get called too often. So even though I was consciously trying to be more agg on the river the stat has not changed.

Other stats remain very similar.

Conclusion:
I think this strategy which I've played in the last 2 months over 120k hands is not optimal, perhaps I really should be trying to bluff more rivers. Maybe I should give myself a "budget" for bluffing and if it fails just write it off as the cost of the experiment. I also need to start over folding to aggression at these stakes.

your riv agg% can be 35-38% imo before parts of the pool start adapting. So ur like 10-12 points off. I promise you its more +ev than 26% and 38% is still not even out of line.

Thanks for your advice mate, I will definitely follow it! I've just ran some reports in HM2 to see hands where I bluffed river and there are less bluffs that lose compared to win which is further evidence I'm under bluffing.

This is a long thread and I've not read all of it. I do notice you saying a lot about what you range should be and relying on GTO solvers.

This is great when you play Doug Polk HU for $100,000 but at micros just play basic solid poker.

At this level if they bet big, they almost always have the goods. They'll do stupid stuff, and they'll call with lots of trash but if they stick their whole stack in or overbet the pot they have it. So play a solid TAG game, bluff a lot less than you think you should, bluff a hell of a lot less than GTO theory tells you to. And when you have TPGK or better just bet every street until they tell you you are beaten.

And fold when they bet big (unless you have stas they are a maniac).

Get comfortable putting in more money when you say so and folding more when they want to put money in. No tricks, no traps. Solid.

You need to exploit their weaknesses and those weaknesses are almost always calling too much and bluffing (big) too little.

I've tried increasing river agg% but it's still stuck at 26% even though I've bluffed so many rivers and also been called a lot of times. Not sure if it's profitable to be bluffing rivers at these stakes so might just give up on increasing river agg% as The_Admiral seems to suggest.

Note to self: just click fold when they minraise IP post flop. No matter how unlikely their range “should” contain the nuts, they almost always have it. This is the difference between BE and winning at micros.

I think you should stop using PIO like you are.

Even for node locking you are wasting time using a solver in NL5zoom. Even at NL50 regs I think you would be wasting a lot of time that can be put into playing and voluming or using something like equilab. That being said, you can node lock a lot, but you need to have a baseline from where you can derive exploits, so you can do a pop. analysis and go from that.

Don't overthink things, it will make you feel bad that you are looking at a solver and not beating a game that it is easy to beat. You are probably just overthinking and using the inadequate tools.

Your overall aggression is low. Gtowizard may tell you to flat the bb more often, but that doesn't consider the absurd amount of rake in micro stakes and also it assumes that everyone is playing the same preflop ranges. Considering the low 4bet by the population, the flop overfolds and the preflop overfolds, you should 3bet even more than what a standard got range for lower rake would suggest.

Sizes doesn't really matter that much, you will make more mistakes in later streets without experience if you start using a bigger size than 1/3. Just bet everything 1/3 IP unless monotone and really wet boards like 987ss or something. It really doesn't matter and the gains in ev won't matter much since everyone yourself included will make plenty of mistakes ott and otr.

When people talk about aggression it immediate comes to mind big overbets and river xr bluffs. You don't even need to overbet at those stakes. People overfold so much that again it doesn't matter.

Keep in mind, aggression can be probing 2/3 a lot vs a x, since people under protect their checking ranges specially IP. So just try to probe all your air turn and river and I guarantee you that your wr and redline will go up. Also, delay river bets work wonders. Also protect your x range oop (overprotect it), and xr a lot specially bluffs.

Just plain and simple aggression, not on big pots where everyone at this stakes has the nuts, but on small pots, and your wr will skyrocket

Bankroll took a hit as did confidence so moved to reg tables and omg it is so soft in comparison to zoom, there are always two fish on the table and value always gets paid! For now staying on reg tables to rebuild.

July Update

Started off with nl5z as usual, losing at 5bb so switched to reg tables halfway through the month.

Been crushing reg tables as it's just so much softer. My strategy hasn't changed much apart from playing more exploitative as more fish in reg tables.
Even though I'm winning at reg tables (over this sample) I don't feel like I've improved my game.

BR currently close to $200 so dunno whether to go back to nl5z or move up to nl10 reg tables.




The rake is ridiculous! Makes me prefer to move up in reg tables as fast as possible out of micros.

You are overfolding a lot there, and that could explain the win rate. Can you post with Wwsf?

So first session of nl10 reg today and there's noticeably less fish than nl5 reg tables although might be because it's a Monday. Still not as tough as nl10z though so will stay here for now. Got a $30 (3rd place prize) chest from the daily rng cards leaderboard promo so that was nice.

Only noticeable hand was vs an aggro fish who was on tilt. I snap called river.

Table broke so played heads up not sure if river jam is too thin. Don't know if I should x/fold. Not much info on villain.

Played zoom today, feels so smooth compared to reg tables always breaking and finding new tables. But zoom is so nitty.
