Okay sooooo.
2016 wasn't that great for me if we include the first 5 months when I was still rolled in uni. Had big downswing, almost went busto, dropped back to NL100 and went "pro", and after that it has been quite smooth sailing for me. During december I finally managed to start winning some stacks at 1k and break into those games, which has been a goal for me a long time. One of my ultimate goals in poker is to be a 2k regular, so trying to get there during 2017. I don't see it being too reasonable to get up to 5k+ in the time I plan to stay in poker and guys there are pretty damn good and most likely work way harder than I do so think 2k is gonna be the highest games I'm going to play ever online. And 2k is still a stake I feel there is a real possibility to get to.
So for me I'll just consider 2016 starting for me after I wen't pro, which was around May.
Between 1.5 and 31.12 I think I made only something like 30k directly from poker, though I made approx 50k from cashgames and lost 20k to mtts. US presidential elections gave me a good BR boost of ~17k, almost covering the MTT losses, and also made a bunch from bitcoin. I haven't tracked my spending too accurately and played decent on untracked sites so it's estimation that should be quite close. So all in all, it's been decent so far as my "pro" career, considering I rebuilt my roll from NL100, and worked my way up to the 1k games.
NL100-600.
Winrate not amazing, as 600 still treating me ****. At 200-400 tracked I got an ok winrate of 4bb/100 over 170k hands, not spectacular but decent.
NL1k : --- D
Secret untracked site, that is tracked. NL400 mostly, with 10bb/100 winrate over 50k hands.
Also played decent 1-2k at various untracked sites where I don't really have a track of how much I won due to many sites and action selling, but estimating it being something between 10-15k.
Life wise 2016 wasn't either that great for me due to some stuff. Mostly due to the death of my father around early December 2016. Which was kind of a reason I just buried myself into poker for early December to get my mind off it, and then stopped playing almost completely when I went to hometown for christmas. It wasn't some tragic accident or anything like that, but a long battle of few years with cancer, which got really bad the last few months, so in a way the actual passing away was kind of a relief. Think anyone who has had a relative gone trough the same, knows what I'm talking about, even though it can kinda sound "cold".
Most of what I did during 2016 after May was trying to get better at poker and play it. Which isn't really healthy for you social life. Luckily I still have 2 groups of close friends, old friends and friends I made at uni, and I try, my "best" to engage frequently with all of them. But being obsessed with poker makes it really hard for me to meet girls lol. So much easier to just stay home and grind than try get out of my comfort zone and go dates via tinder etc. And when I go "out" to bars/clubs it's pretty usual to just have a laugh with friends, get really drunk and then I'm in no condition to approach girls with a winrate of +0bb/100 : DD. During 2017 I'll try to get more out of my comfort zone and get better at it. Maybe I'll also join some EPT stops, if some people I sort of know are going too and meet some of my nemeses at the onlinestreets (LOOKING IN THE DIRECTION OF THE UK), that should be fun.
Didn't really do too much travelling during 2016, but plan to do more during 2017. Only really went for a week to meet mr blakkk and almighty linus, which was pretty refreshing. And then also spent a week at barca with rl friends which was so relaxing not to think about poker for a week. Hoping to join you ****ers at some ept stop this year and have a blast.
Also went to a lan to play CSGO at late december which was a ****ing blast. Used to play CS for a long time at quite high level before poker. Battled against the best at that time NiP NAVI etc, but we never really "made it", mostly due to the lack of motivation. But playing intense CSGO matches at small 500ppl lan was a blast even though we lost the final. Big part of that was that I had played the 2nd map played in the final (overpass), like around 5 times as it wasn't around when I still played like 2-3 years ago. Still managed to win a 100€ KEYBOARD!!!! Though I'm fairly confident I still was the biggest winner there winning around 4-5k while poker for few hours.
Might post our teamphoto once I find it.
