I recently saw my first post on 2+2. I was playing NL2, but had busted my $13 “bankroll”. I said I didn't understand why because
“i was playing good cards like A10 etc”. My god, I don’t know was it more sad or funny.
But no one refused help and I got plenty of advice. That’s the beginning of my poker at 2+2.
Now my poker has changed by miles. I play NL5 < NL10 on iPoker. However, my poker life has been very frustrating since it has been a massive rollercoaster. Which brings me to this thread.
Actually, it is like fourth time I am trying to start out a PG&C thread but I always chicken out before clicking "post" because I never know how will I continue. after the initial post. After all, this is not a 50-to-10k-in-2013 type of thread. It is more like a cry-for-help type of thread. Sad? Maybe. But I am not giving up
Obviously, it took me a while to go from a complete beginner (as shown above
to an ABC/TAG player. I try to spend a lot of time learning like reading books(winning low-stakes poker, crushing the micros, theory of poker, poker blueprint, dynamic full ring poker) and watching videos that I find on torrent sites, youtube, etc.
I also have a pokercouch. But there is a problem. Being he is a good mid-stakes player, he does not seem to be quite as good in teaching. I don’t pay him, he’s like affiliate/coach but I have no idea whether I should continue with him or is there some way to improve the training process.
As mentioned I play NL5 > NL10. What this means is that I was pretty decent in NL 5, moved to NL10. But after varying degrees of success or no success at all, I now switch between NL5 to NL10.
Let’s talk numbers.
My stats used to be a bit on a looser side, like 28/23. Now I am tightening my game to 19/15, maybe 15/13. But my results are still rubbish.
My NL10 graph
My plan for the future:
I am not a grinder by a mile. I Play 4-6 tables, for 2 hours several days a week. I have a family and a job.
So, my plans are:
• Stop losing. Seriously. Just stop. Once I stabilize my game, I will work on more tables up to 12.
• Take up a training site I feel constant, fresh content must be better than what i do now. (I recently saw Grinderschool for micro-stakes players.it’s only $10 which is perfect for me. At least until i stop losing. Any feedback?)
• Find better ways to have sessions with the coach or find some other group/coach.
• Keep this thread up and kicking by posting hands, general thought process, analyzing my leaks, etc.
Final word on goals
My first stop in poker is NL50, 6+ buy-ins/month. This is not a results-oriented goal. This is just the point, where I see myself being able to finally withdraw regularly which would really help support my family. But I have time and motivation and first and foremost for me is still improving in all aspects of my game.
So, first up. Does anyone have any advice on how to make coaching sessions better instead of only looking at hand histories? Any stories on grinderschool? Any ideas where should I search for leaks?
Thanks for everybody who stays. I will soon post some hands and statistics.
