Hey everyone, my name's Catfoo. I'm an 18 year old UK-based soon to be Maths student and have been playing poker for ~4 years on a very casual basis. Around 8 months ago I put a bit of effort in and had decent results at NL10 6max but got destroyed every time I moved to NL25 After having withdrawn my initial investment I have a bankroll of ~$500 mostly built from NL10 cash. I've recently focused on HU hypers ($3.50) on Stars and had reasonable success, although from what I gather my sample size is worthless at the moment, I plan to fix that. So there's my background in poker. I currently would prefer to keep my screename private but I think I'll eventually divulge it.

This thread is hopefully going to help motivate me to put in decent volume while I can. When I'm actively playing I hope to update this thread 2-3 times per week with graphs of my results and some HHs.

Ok here we go, lifetime HU Hypers, all $3.50

And graph for the day;

Worst day so far but days like this come and go. No HHs today because I didnt get much sleep and I'm not in the greatest mood.

I'm obviously new around here so if this is the wrong sub-forum then would a mod kindly move it to the correct one, thanks.

Really not happy with my play today. Got coolered a bunch at the start then lost my confidence.

Just learned how to insert images correctly, is there any way I can edit the OP?

Played $7s today, will move down if I hit a serious downswing. From what I gather the player field seems to be almost as bad but with fewer tight passive fish, more loose aggro fish. I got coolered like 7 times by one idiot who had a 3bet of 45% but pair>paired me preflop 4-5 times.

Gonna be really busy for a few days, so probably very little if any volume for a while. I'll get to analyzing HHs soon. If a mod could kindly let me edit the OP so I can make the images work I'd be grateful, it looks really ugly without the graphs.

Didn't get to play yesterday and didn't expect to get to play today but here I am. Frustrating day running into hands for 80% of it but the heater at the end was nice;

Played pretty well yesterday. For the 2nd half of the day I ran horrible in every way possible. Got 88+ in like 15 times preflop and was behind for over 12 of them. Many 2pair>2pair and I even ran under equity in all-in spots to top it all off.

Thanks man, I think my medium-term goal is to be crushing the 30s GL to you too. Really need my luck to change soon, I'm 49.2 buyins under EV at $7 over 650ish games.

The most brutal part is I know I have the same chance of getting EV neutral as I do of going 99.4 buyins under.

Also for the thread in general;

Barely got to play today. D/ced one game with 200 chips left so that's why the chips don't stay in multiples of 500. Stopped early because I was lagging badly. I'll post a graph of 1000 games at $7 level soon, tomorrow or next day. This includes some shot-taking before this thread began.

First section of today was disgusting. Insane coolers, demoralising beats, a game where I gained 1055 chips in equity and lost (lol). But suddenly, at game 51 my savior arrived. He was the first person I've played from China, and he blessed me with his presence for 22 games. It was some of the finest poker I've seen in years, with many great hands, such as;

Poker Stars $6.85+$0.15 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t10/t20 Blinds - 2 players

Hero (BB): t240 12 BBs
BTN/SB: t760 38 BBs

Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BB with 2 Q
BTN/SB calls t10, Hero checks

Flop: (t40) T T T (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t40, Hero calls t40

Turn: (t120) A (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t140, Hero raises to t180 all in, BTN/SB calls t40

River: (t480) 3 (2 players - 1 is all in)

Spoiler:
Final Pot: t480
Hero shows 2c Qc (three of a kind, Tens)
BTN/SB shows 7d 8c (three of a kind, Tens - lower kicker)
Hero wins t480

And also this magnificent play;

Poker Stars $6.85+$0.15 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t15/t30 Blinds - 2 players

BB: t400 13.33 BBs
Hero (BTN/SB): t600 20 BBs

Pre Flop: (t45) Hero is BTN/SB with K 9
Hero raises to t60, BB calls t30

Flop: (t120) 7 3 T (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t60, BB raises to t340 all in, Hero calls t280

Turn: (t800) 3 (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: (t800) 8 (2 players - 1 is all in)

Spoiler:
Final Pot: t800
BB shows 9d Qd (a pair of Threes)
Hero shows Kd 9h (a pair of Threes - King kicker)
Hero wins t800

And from a disaster that could potentially result in the first -EV day of the thread, the day was saved.

I find using "prizes" instead of "chips" and "overlay net adjusted" instead of "Display All in EV" is a better indication of how I'm doing.

Just a suggestion!

Today's results were not spectacular, althought I played really f**king well. I just played enough to get 1000 games. So here's that;

And so here's 1000 games, which includes about 100 that I played when shot-taking from the $3.50s and ran worse than I ever have in my life;

If I hadn't accidentally played 1 too many I'd have booked a nice profit of $0.70. In the final game I got allin for the win with A7s v QJ and the flop was AK3, but the soul-destroying T on the turn wiped out my profit. However if we're only looking at games since the start of the thread, since this is when I re-focused my game, the graph is a little nicer;

And it wouldn't be fair to end a summary post like this without any HHs so here's a nice hero I made;

Poker Stars $6.85+$0.15 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t15/t30 Blinds - 2 players

BTN/SB: t480 16 BBs
Hero (BB): t520 17.33 BBs

Pre Flop: (t45) Hero is BB with 7 T
BTN/SB calls t15, Hero checks

Flop: (t60) K Q 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t30, Hero calls t30

Turn: (t120) K (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t60, Hero calls t60

River: (t240) 5 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t360 all in, Hero calls t360

Spoiler:
Final Pot: t960
BTN/SB shows 6h 9d (a pair of Kings)
Hero shows 7c Ts (two pair, Kings and Sevens)
Hero wins t960

...but sometimes I get a little carried away

Poker Stars $6.85+$0.15 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t10/t20 Blinds - 2 players

Hero (BB): t530 26.50 BBs
BTN/SB: t470 23.50 BBs

Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BB with T J
BTN/SB raises to t40, Hero calls t20

Flop: (t80) K K 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB checks

Turn: (t80) A (2 players)
Hero bets t40, BTN/SB raises to t100, Hero calls t60

River: (t280) 5 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t330 all in, Hero calls t330

Spoiler:
Final Pot: t940
Hero shows Tc Jh (a pair of Kings - Ace+Jack kicker)
BTN/SB shows 4d 2c (a pair of Kings)
Hero wins t940

Just kidding

Really not too happy with my play to be honest, but got neutral card distribution and ran good in all-in situations. Lots of them were people calling >80% of their stack, flopping a pair vs my A high then the cash goes in and I re-suckout so I don't feel too bad about it. Idk of the regs at this level are better or I'm just a but nervous but I'm not 100% comfortable so I gotta work on that. Like ~75% of the regs I played today shove way too wide over limps so I had a few funny hands like limp-calling a shove w/ A9o hand 1 against a reg I had a note on from a previous game and he turned up with Q8o.

There'll be no updates for a while because I go to Uni tomorrow, might turn this into weekly updates instead of daily, still undecided. I've stopped counting days of +EV, I'll tally them when I get my first -EV day. All graphs from now on will be in cash, not chips.

Have now moved into University, everyone I'm staying with is super nice and cool, got a good group of friends already. Managed to squeeze a little bit of play in today which is here;

I'm planning on joining the poker society here, to get to know other players who are willing to take poker semi-seriously. I'm going to remain vague of real life event though, and it's looking more and more like I'm going to be posting weekly or bi-weekly updates on here. Every month I'll make sure I post my month summary graph and my all-time graph, and this month they are the same thing

This contains in total about slightly over 1k games of $3.50 and $7, and almost 200 games of $15. ~850 games of $3.50 and ~120 games of $7 were prior to making this thread. I'll probably be posting fewer interesting hands also, but if I remember to save funny ones I'll post them. GL everyone at the tables, against everyone but me

Ok so obviously university life is too busy for me to update this thread so often. I'll make at least monthly updates but there isn't going to be a particular schedule and volume will vary wildy. In October I played a tiny bit, ran horrible for card distribution and played disgustingly badly so here's that so we can all laugh at me;

I realised Uni is too busy for me to play during term time so I didn't even play in November.

In December I dropped back to 1 tabling $7 to re-find my feet and get my confidence back, and I'm now 2-tabling $15s and feeling like I'm playing pretty well. I've toned down some of the crazier parts of my play and it's working out. Running badly of course but here's this month so far;

I'll post a month summary in early January and that will have an all-time graph attached too. Currently my all-time EV is $916.86 and Actual is $494.84

I couldn't end this post without a hand so here's one from today that made me giggle;

BTN/SB: t455 15.17 BBs
Hero (BB): t545 18.17 BBs

Pre Flop: (t45) Hero is BB with 5 K
BTN/SB calls t15, Hero raises to t90, BTN/SB calls t60

Flop: (t180) 6 9 T (2 players)
Hero bets t90, BTN/SB calls t90

Turn: (t360) 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB checks

River: (t360) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t120, Hero calls t120

Spoiler:
Final Pot: t600
BTN/SB shows Jh 7c (a pair of Nines)
Hero shows 5d Ks (a pair of Nines - King kicker)
Hero wins t600

OK so 2013 is basically over, going to a party tonight so I'm done for the year. Here's December in full;

And here's the year summary, which is the same as all-time this year

The bankroll sits at ~$1120 and I planned to move up to $30s at $1200 then drop down if I lose 10 BIs. However I'm going back to Uni very soon and I don't really want to move up when I don't have a lot of time to play so that might be put on hold for a while.

Poker Goals for 2014;

-Become a reg at =>$60 with a >2.5% EV ROI
-$10k EV profit pre RB
-10K games played at levels =>$15
-Play better

My goals outwith poker and pretty standard s**t that I'm sure nobody wants to hear.

Hope you all had a great 2013 and have a better 2014
Catfoo's HU Hyper Climb Quote

Ok so I somehow found time to get a decent volume day in so I thought I'd give it its own post. Also at game 69 I moved up to $30s. Beginning to get a feel for this new level. The regs are much better than the $15s regs and >80% of my games were vs regs, half of whom have like >$20k profit lifetime according to sharkscope. I played pretty excellent today, had disgusting card distribution but I somehow managed to not let that show in EV. Unfortunately I had an unreal stretch of being card dead with <10BBs so some of the regs think I'm weak and kept sitting me. Today has helped me mentally prepare for some swings at $30, since I had a >$300 downswing through no fault of my own, which represents like 25% of my roll. I didn't tilt or anything so that was good.
