Hi, I'm Peter from the Czech Republic. After a few years of playing spins I decide to move to Cash Game. I will start playing NL 0.25 and we will see how far I will go. Soon I will move to Thailand because the cost of living in Asia is much cheaper than EU or Latin America so that's why I chose Thailand, probably i will go to Chiang Mai.

Here I will document my poker journey and will do updates at least once a week.
I don't know which site I will play but probably I will start on Winamax where I did play spins before and later will try other sites. I just love winamax software and challenges. The only thing is the rake is a little higher than other sites.

My goal this year is to move to NL 100 by end of the year.
I will grind around 7 hours and 3 hours of study 6 times a week.
I will start watching poker videos and also will work on my mental game. I'm thinking to get Elliot Roe's A-Game Poker Masterclass from Run It Once.

Goal for next week:
1: study 18 hours
2: play 42 hours
3: meditate for at least 10 min every day.
4:!!! Don't get distracted by phone / youtube and other things!!!

LAST WEEK:
(Goal for next week)
1: study 18 hours - 10 ❌
2: play 42 hours. 44
3: meditate for at least 10 min every day. ❌
4:!!! Don't get distracted by phone / youtube and other things!!!

Last week I did start playing a cash game on winamax nl 0.20 I'm down 220euro. There are many players who 16 tablings just to win the leaderboard. In winamax you get points to see flops so there is lots of limping and those 16 tabling guys are so nitty.
I did play 44 hours last week and did study 10 hours.

Also, I will add a Czech poker site to play. I did try it already and the players are horrible on the lowest stake at least. The software is horrible I'm playing in the browser they don't have a normal client and there mostly running 9-man tables. Rake in micro stakes is 5% uncapped and rakeback is 10% but really those players spewing stack a lot. Also you cant write notes and can't use any tracker.

At the Czech poker site, I will start from the lowest stake 1/2 and 2/4 which is equivalent nl 0.10 and nl 0.20 but you can do buy-in unlimited bbs so it's better to play deeper than 100bbs with bad players. The highest stake is 100/200 equivalent to 5/10 USD.
I will track my progress in the poker bankroll tracker.

Every day I start playing around 8:30 am and around 1 pm I'm getting really tired. If I go take a nap for one hour, later I just can't wake up and when i finally do wake up i can't focus. If i don't take a nap im tired around 40 min and then if I survive those 40 min im totally fresh and ok. I don't know why I'm having that. I don't eat really healthy last 3 months and drink lots of beer at end of the session or after. So also need to reduce that.

GOAL FOR NEXT MONTH CHALLENGE MONTH
1: play 300 hours
2: study 40 hours
3: meditate every day
4: eat more healthy and drink much more water
5: drink less beer

Goal for next week
1: play 70 hours
2: study 14 hours
3. drink less beer

Week 1
1: play 70 hours. ❌ 63
2: study 14 hours. ❌ 6
3. drink less beer - yes did drink only two days after the session.

The first week of the month I did play 63 hours and study only 6 hours and I want to play more but at the site where I'm playing is not much traffic in the late hours so I decided to cut little my sessions than play 2 tables at the end.

For the first time, I was winning all week every day. My profit is 291 USD which is 4.6usd per hour at micro stakes NL 0.08 and 0.16.
My bankroll is now 556 usd. Hopefully next month I will play NL 0.25. I will go there with 35 buy-ins and will go back if I lose 5 buy-ins.

I have to say my game after I watched coaching videos changed a lot. I realize I was calling too much before and especially with the high rake I should play much tighter.

In the first post, I was saying I will move to Thailand but now I'm thinking to go to Mexico instead and here is why.

PROS and CONS: THAILAND vs MEXICO

1. COST OF LIVING - Thailand is definitely cheaper I would say for micro stake players with not much money is a better option. In Chiang Mai, you can rent a condo for 160 USD a month but in Mexico never if you want to live like a person. Food is much cheaper in Thailand also I would say half the cost of Thailand. I mean if you eat in local restaurants.

2. VISA - MEXICO - have 6 monthly visas and if you overstay nothing will happen and THAILAND- 2-month visa plus one-month extension which you neeed to pay and plus you need to pay the visa also which in Mexico you don't. I don't exactly know the rules now for entry to Thailand for people who don't have vaccination but from what I read Mexico is fine and Thailand just needs a test now.

3. TIME ZONE - definitely Mexico I'm done playing nights.

4. GIRLS - Hmm is everybody's preference and Thai have many transgenders. I'm sure Latinas girls are more drama

5. FOOD - I think Asian food is better than food in Latin America.

6. LANGUAGE- Spanish Language is just beautiful plus everybody can dance to Salsa

7. SPIRITUAL LIFE - Thailand is the place to go for yoga and meditation.

I'm like 50/50 when I'm thinking about those pros and cons. Mexico will definitely win because of the time zone but I don't have money so I really don't know which country to GO. Another option was Vietnam but they have only one month visa and you need to make a visa run every month which will cost around 100usd plus the day or two which i will lose not playing.

I was thinking to get a job and grind with poker and I would feel like this is the easy option and something like a plan B.
I don't want to spend my energy on plan B, I just want to do it. I can always come back to Europe and get a job. Maybe not smart but I'm just going ONE WAY TICKET.

Next Sunday I will make a decision about where I will go.

WEEK 2 GOAL.
1. Play 70 hours
2. Study 6 hours

FWIW My buddy is a 100NL player, and also coaches players at 60$/hr. He loves Mexico, and is moving back out there soon. Only reason he came back is because he suffered the fattest downswing. I think it would be great.

(WEEK 2 GOAL.)
1. Play 70 hours ❌ Played 53 hours
2. Study 6 hours Study 7 hours

The second week of this month was good Monday was my best day of the week.
Result: Monday +71
Tuesday -37
Wednesday +4.2
Thursday +33
Friday +25
Saturday +46
Sunday +33
Total +176 USD = Hourly 3.3usd
Bankroll 742 USD

MOVING: After my Sunday session I decided to pack my backpack and go to Prague. I did pack it in 20 min and left home. I need to do it like that because I'm scared and for me is best just do it and don't think about that. It's hard to move to a different country with almost no money and 700 usd bankroll. I have 3k USD in my credit card yes using a credit card and just going ALL IN.
I will stay a day or two at my friend's house and will see where I will go. Tomorrow going to get a PCR test and if I'm ok I will just buy a ticket.

POKER : Most of the time I play 9 man cash game and mix it with a 6man cash game.
I do study every day it definitely helps me a lot because I do play cash games for only a couple of weeks. I didn't find any coaching for 9 man cash game so it's hard to study especially when you play multiway almost every hand you play and I mean multiway 3 to 6 people in the hand.

Here are questions that I will try to answer during my journey.

1- How much should I raise 9man ? 2x, 2,5x 3x 4x 6x no matter how much raise you will almost always get a call with at least 2 players.

2- Do you play more lose because you play with whales or do you play tighter because you play with an uncapped rake and 200bb plus game?

3- Do you open in 9man cash AQo in utg if you know you will get 4+ callers?

4- How do you play nuts fd on a flop OOP with 3players behind?

I will add more questions later, now I'm on the train to Prague. I'm a little bit stressed about what I'm doing but I'm really not happy in my country like I feel I don't belong to here.
In a couple of days I will be in a different world I mean Asia or Latin America is totally different than Europe and I'm ready to travel and take that risk.
Like Eva Zu Beck on youtube said - "the world belongs to the brave"

I will also start writing down my thoughts and questions about what I don't know the answer during my session and maybe in the future I will take a coach.
For now, i have lots of cash game videos that im learning from.

See you next week and good luck everyone

Eventually you should move over to 6 max. A lot more money to be made in 6 max and it seems like you are good winning player. You can improve your hrly at 6 max. 9 max is fine though since you just started recently but eventually you should phase out 9 max. GL

Thank you but I'm not interested in coaching right now. I have plenty of material to study from.

I decide to go to Mexico for a few months. The reason is to play during the day and if i go to Asia i will have to wake up at midnight to play. Also, I want to learn some Spanish. And another reason is the visa in Mexico i should get it for 6 months on arrival and in Thailand, one month plus one month extension which you need to pay and then visa run every two months. With my calculation, it will be similar to Mexico moneywise because im on a really tight budget.

I did contact one guy on Facebook who has a hotel in Merida, Yucatan he's Czech also and he told me he will give me a room with a kitchen for one month for 5k pesos which is 250usd with everything. I check Agoda for that hotel and it has 8.5 stars so hopefully, it will be nice with good internet.

Because I don't have money I will not stay in Mexico City long time maybe two days we will see it depends on the cost of the flight from Mexico City to Merida or Cancun. Cancun to Merida by bus is 6 hours. Also, I was looking to go by bus from Mexico City but it's 24 hours and in my experience, it will be 30+ hours, and the bus and flight tickets are similar in cost.

I did fly from Prague to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to Mexico City. It was a long 12 hours flight but everything with Lufthansa was perfect.
I did stay one day in Mexico City and then I did fly two hours to Merida. It's so hot here in Yucatan but I like hot weather. Can't wait to explore the city and go to the beach which is 30km from my place.
My accommodation is horrible it's lots of mold inside the kitchen and the room smell so I will stay a month and I have a month to find accommodation. I just ordered a new desk, gaming chair, and 32inch monitor from amazon.

POKER:
I did manage to play 46 hours this week with a 305usd profit. I did play also a couple of mtts but break even.
Now I just need to wait for my stuff and till then will be 4 tabling on my 13inch laptop.
For next week I don't have any goal. I will play study and also will go out to explore the city and will go to tinder to find a Spanish teacher.

These Yucatecan girls here are so small and I'm a big guy 190cm ( 6foot 4 inches)
Also need to learn some Spanish. I did download a few audiobooks from audible so will start to study also.
Hopefully, I will find a girl who doesn't speak English for learning more quickly.

I will also track my expenses with an app I want to know how much I will spend in a month. The next few months will be hard but I'm really excited to be here and play poker.
When I landed in Mexico City and passed the immigration passport control and left the airport the stress just disappear. I'm here and there is no way I'm going back.
Poker is not easy those days but in my opinion, if you study and grind and follow bankroll management you can still do it and I will prove it. I will do it ;

Now I'm just going to buy a beer and relax and think about what I just did. I never thought I will be living in Mexico.

August summary:

Hours played 228 with a profit of 1106 USD (4.86usd p/h)

Finally, I have my desk, monitor, and chair set up, and I'm ready for the next month grind.

In September my goal is to play for 200 hours and study for at least 40 hours.
At the site where I play the traffic going down so I decide to play some mtts also.

The worst thing last few weeks of study is I don't know how to get better in multiway pots I play almost every hand multiway. Trying to find a good suitable strategy.
Also, I realize I play many times when I'm tired and make big mistakes that cost me lots of bbs. For next month I will try to play much fewer hours than I normally do and study more.

Mexico: In my country getting cold and here in Yucatan it's sunny every day. Lots of street dogs and cats that you don't see in Europe. Maybe I will adopt later some street dog.

I have to say the tacos are so good here and honestly it's not that cheap here.

I went to tinder already and I will have a date soon.

Next month hopefully I will post some pictures and also I will go one day to visit the beach and just relax and get ceviche.

Hello again Its have been a while since I post here something.
The main thing is I'm not in Mexico anymore. I was living in Mexico illegally already because I didn't make a visa run after 6 months and then i did overstay my visa. So i decide to leave Mexico and move to Guatemala. I live in Guatemala now for 2 months. Im living in Antigua probably the most expensive city in Guatemala but most people's favorite city in Guatemala. Antigua is World Heritage Site. It's so beautiful here, a small city surrounded by mountains and volcanos.
I have to say the internet is fine here in the last two months I had maybe 4 disconnections. I have one more month visa and then i need to go to Immigration to extend my visa for another 3 months Then I need to leave the country for at least one day and then I can come back and have another 3+3 months visa. I did rent a room over Facebook and i do pay 165usd for a month with everything. It's actually a nice house with 6 times a week of housekeeping. I live with one person from Mexico and two guys from Guatemala. For the next 3 months, I want to move to another city and rent my place. After my research, I don't have many options because the internet or electricity is not stable always so my options are to stay here or Guatemala City which is one of the worst Capital cities that I have visited, or Quetzaltenango which will be my pick if I find accommodation there.

Guatemalan girls are the shortest girls in the world they are really small. And one thing is that I don't understand how many 10-15 years girls have already babies but not a few many many.

POKER: Im still at micro and dint move up at all. I don't know how much money micro players make on different sites but my hourly this year is 10.5 usd. Last 3 months doing even better around 12 usd. It's so frustrating because I know I have the skill to beat higher stakes but can't move up because I do owe money to credit cards and that's holding me back and my bankroll going up just slowly. I feel more confident with my game. I'm trying to study at least 6 hours a week but it's hard because I don't have any study partner and my study is watching videos from one of the CFP stable. Soon I want to make a deposit to 888 Poker and start playing there with a hud and then take a coach because the site where I play there is no HH and it's in the browser.

From now I will try to post at least every 10 days. Its have been a little depressing for me just work a lot and not enjoy life last few months. In the next post, I will talk more about what happened in Mexico in the last few months what I didn't post here, and maybe will talk about girls also and post some pictures because some of them were really hot. It's so funny here I have so beautiful girls and in Europe, I will not have a chance.

If anyone has any advice on how to get better at poker let me know

GL everyone and my next post will be the first of next month with a recapitulation of July.

JULY Recap.
The beginning of July was the worst swing that I ever had on the site where I'm playing. For the first 12 days, I won only two days and 10 sessions were in red. I was down around 42buy ins and that never happened to me before on the smallest game possible. I get rivered all the time but I knew I was playing well it's just a variance. Since then I won every session ( session = day) and ended up winning 2340usd. I think this is my 3rd best month in micro. As someone mentioned before in a comment to start playing only 6max tables so I try that and playing 9max just when I don't have 6 tables. I start using more ranges of what I print and stick it to my monitor. For me, I think my biggest leak was I wasn't 3beting enough especially from BBvBTN so now I'm trying to correct it.
I definitely playing more agroo and taking more bbs pre-flop. In the videos training videos that I'm watching the coach says everything that you will take without seeing flop is good only QQ+ is good to see flops. And those people playing on GG and other sites and my site have 4.6usd (100czk) rake on every stake so when I'm playing 1/2 and 2/4 czk that's 50 and 25bbs rake so Im trying to take pots down pre-flop much more than before.

Played 24 sessions 171 hours 2340usd profit (51k czk) hourly 13.7usd (298czk)
I don't know how many hours I did study but from now I will track everything. Also, need to wake up more early because in the morning there are many more recreational players and just a few regs.

I hope in the next two months I can start shooting NL 50. It's really frustrating to play so many months micro and not move up. I know NL 50 is micro also but you know what I mean not move up.
This month I need to extend my visa or do a visa run so there will be a few days off and need to find accommodation or go back to Mexico which I don't want to.

The goal for AUGUST.
200 hours of playing and 30 hours to study.

I don't know if is possible to keep the hourly at micro on 14usd but obv I will do my best.
