Hey everyone, as the title says my challange is to get my bankroll from 800 to 3k playing 25PLO at pokerstars. I have been playing there for about 5 weeks atm and made a 1800USD profit playing that stake. I had already planned on playing 50PLO starting this month, and yesterday i finally got to it! 9 hours later I was down 540 and had to call it... Before I started I also had to withdraw some money for irl expenses. So now my bankroll is sitting on 824USD and i decided to build my bankroll here at 25PLO to 3k before I go up again. Also when I played yesterday i played zoom at 50PLO which I did not do at 25PLO, so I played a lot more hands then normally and I got smacked hard, really felt like I was the worst player on the table every hand.

Up to last week I had a great start to my PLO career with 21BB/100 and then variance caught up with me and with the slaughter i went through at 50PLO im at 8.58BB/100 atm. I also only got 600USD profit registered in PT4, and 250USD profit ev adjusted. Alittle background about me, Ive played NLHE for about 10 years with about 100k USD profit, also been playing some PLO every now and then. Not a lot of cash for such a long time of playing, but I have also been a full time student for last 6 years so its been a nice side income when I only used to play 10-20 hours a week. Last two years I have been crushed in NLHE to making almost no money, so feels really nice to be running better and playing a new more action filled game.

I just finished a short session as I have to some laundry today and while its in the machine I thought i share a few hands from the session.

Not sure if I managed to post this the right way, but it was quite an interesting hand. The only reason I chose to do a min 4bet is because the player that did the min 3bet is a total fish. And if i chose to to do a full sized pott 4bet I think he and the the other two calls and my hand wont play well on many flops. So with a min 4bet I give him the chance to do something stupid which he luckily did. If on the other hand the fish would only have called the the two other players would have aswell, but then we would have gone to flop with only investing 8bbs and could fold really cheaply on bad flops.

This was against a reg that was getting crushed as we played and I was a big reason for that winning like 4 all ins vs him in less then an hour where I felt i outplayed him hard. So when he pot on that flop where I block the J, got the aces and the nut flush draw it was an easy all in. Disgusting run outs on the turn and river, but was a fun hand.

I love to check raise on spots like this with Top set or big draws. The guy on the button is also a fish and when he bets its obvious the money is going into the middle, question is only how bad his hand is. Run outs again got me good.

Anyway thats gonna be it for my long intro post to my challenge, ended this first session with 112USD+

Played some more yesterday evening and variance is balancing it self out. Was playing some really juice tables and I was playing pretty well for the most part, but some tilt calls and some mistakes led to the day ending in a total of 58USD deficit. Bankroll currently at 762 and im about to get some coffee and get some grind in, hope to play about 6-8 hours today and hopefully start making some money back.

I also did play one table of zoom yesterday while grinding And I lost 43USD on that so I guess I got a lot to learn there. Was also looking at 50PLO tables for fish to table select and got into 2 games total there, ended up pretty much break even at those. Probably gonna start looking to snipe some nice tables at 100PLO aswell when I get the bankroll up to 1.5k again. To scary to go there now.

If I did this right there should be a graph there, and im gonna try to stay anonymous for a while longer. Dont think it matters at all tbh if anyone knows my nick, but w/e ill keep it anonymous for as long as I can until i forget to remove my name from one of the posts sooner or later :P

As you might have noticed the numbers dont add up from what I've told and what the PT4 shows and thats because I have about 30 hours of play time not showed there, and I won about 800-900 USD in that time which would really have helped to make the graph look better...

Was a long day today. Started the day with 4.5hours of zoom 25PLO because of lack of regular tables in the morning and has crazy swings with down 100usd in 15 min, then 150+ within an hour of play. After going up and down for a bit I ended it with 70+ and I must say I dont like zoom at all. But I guess its worth improving since it seems to attract a lot of recreational players.

Played two shorter sessions aswell later on and ended the day now with around +95 bucks for the day.

Bankroll at 856 and gonna try to push over 1k again tomorrow and hopefully post some interesting hands.

Such a good start with an all in second hand vs a guy that was drawing dead to a runner runner. Really good tables aswell with a ton of well known fish and several of them at 50PLO. One guy in particular who just bettes pott every hand ran increadibly well and took 3 buy ins from me. He then took of a while before joining in again later. I left the table down 200usd and my EV showed +10 so yeah i ran horrible there. Only lost half to him to with another reg taking a 100 from me when he was rage tilting. I ended up a small winner at the 25PLO tables, but a total loss of 471usd got my bankroll dangerously short.

Bankroll at 384 now and the goal to push it over 1k today just flew right out the window. Gonna go and work out for a bit now, get some food and hopefully I can start mounting a come back when I get home again. Gonna be a long challenge if this continue!

Hey man, Ill try and give some helpful advice that can be helpful if you dont have much or even any experience in PLO.

1. A big winning hand in PLO is sets, you will flop a lot more of them in PLO then in NLHE just because you get delt so much more pocket pairs. The same goes for you opponents to, so I would suggest staying away from low pocket pair for the most part since when the money goes into the middle you will want to have the bigger set!

2. Flopping the nuts in Omaha isent enough. If you flop the nut straight and the money goes into the middle you should generally want to have some redraws to improve you hand. Nothing worse then to push the money into the middle and realize your opponent is free rolling, but that is gonna happen from time to time.

3. Play hands where all 4 cards in your hole is helping each other, like 7-8-9-T. and avoid hands like KQ-67 (they are real garbage). The more connected your cards are, the more likely it is you will hit the flop and at the same time get a redraw to improve even more. Hands like A-K-Q-5 double suited is also a strong hand, so not all 4 cards have to been connected as a straight.

Could also recommend watching some Jnandez clips on youtube where he explains some basic stuff that can be really helpful.

What limit to start is up to you, I have only tried 25PLO and 50PLO and its A LOT easier at 25PLO. I dont have only 15 hours or so experience from 50PLO and I have been running terrible there. Even today when I only played on tables with fish that I have played with before that is 60%+ vpip I got completely destroyed. So considering how big you bankroll is I would think that 10PLO could be a good start and get in atleast 30-40k until you get a hang of it.

I hope you found some of this useful, Im about to make some coffee and strap in for a 3-4 hour session, will come back with an update and some hands after!

The villain here I only got 50 hands on and this is the first hand he 3bet so I assume he got AAxx. So when an A hit the flop and I hit the flush I feel very confident he will call a flop bet so I decide to lead out. And with a blank turn its an easy all in and he only got 9 bucks left so hes calling for sure aswell. With my luck today I was really happy the board didint pair.

Also pretty interesting hand, the villain here is a tight reg so I felt the hand would probably end on the flop when I raise. And if I dont raise there he will definitely check behind on turn and probably fold on river when I lead out. So it was a hard situation to actually get paid with the flopped nuts. After he calls flop he could have quite a lot of hands from the inside wrap or over pair. the 2 on the turn was also really nice encase he had the over pair which is likely since he called the turn. 7 on the river didint help getting paid of and he folded my shove. made the maximum that hand to Id say.

Also pretty standard play. the villain is a weak player and 3betting this hand on the button is very standard. flop was not good and I will always check it back for a free turn. with the K on the turn im gonna be good a lot of the times and another easy shove.

Bankroll at 290 and its really time to get going again.

Wierd day today. Got around 12-16 quads today, and most of them were flopped quad aces or kings. Got atleast one straight flush aswell. Felt really ubsurd after a while and even tho I got so many of these monster hands I ended the day about break even. For obvious reasons its very hard to get paid of with quad aces of which I had aleast 5 of. Also ran bad in flips today losing a big majority of them so gotta be happy with break even after that.

Last two days I have been pretty card dead and today it felt like the variance was making up for it by giving me these huge hands, to bad they are close to useless when it comes to getting paid of.

Really good action this night. Two very lose villains and I had postion on both of them. Against one of them it didnt matter all that much since I didint hit anything and trying to bluff him of hands is a bad idea. Won a big hand vs him when I flopped nut straight with nut flush draw and he ended up calling three streets with flopped two pair. He even turned 3 pair on the turn and it became a one card straight posibility, but that didint scare him of from calling my pot seize on turn and shove on river.

The other guy played two tabes and managed to get deep on both tables even tho I took a few nice pots from him. He then changed tables and when we were both 100BB deep I stacked him 3 times on one table in 10 hands where I had AAxx and had him close to drawing dead on turn each three times without having made a set.

All in all it wasent a very profitable day where I decided to quit after stacking of two times in the end within 30 sec of each other. One pot I feel the money had to go in and the other I could have found a fold tbh.

Bankroll at 334. The current down swing seem to be even it self out, and last time I ran bad a few days I made a come back and ran like a god for like 3 weeks recking the tables for about 1.6k. So if i can run half as good as that in the next three weeks ill be happy. Only got one more week of poker left before a short vacation to, but a lot can happen in a week!

Pretty good day with 70usd+ in two quite short sessions with lots of actions. Both started with a steep fall of 3-4 buy ins then getting a come back mounted both times. Ended the session now because its really late and I was starting to play to passive which I tend to do when im getting tired.

Looked through my pt4 and realized that one of the few regs I feel can play pretty well was up 100usd vs me, and I was not surprised to since hes been running red hot for quite a while winning a lot over his ev adjusted. I feel like I have been able now to figure him out better and today he bluffed away some money to me aswell as getting some bad beats vs others.

I played this weekend on my laptop and didint get pt4 set up to work and I got no clue why so I ended up playing quite a bit with out getting hands recorded and I did end up winning a little bit. And I really which I had the data just because of how redonkulous many quads I flopped and turned. Also glad I dont have them because I donked in one hand really really hard in a 600bb pott. It wasent absolute sure I was behind but close enough, and if I were behind it also meant I didint have many outs, and sure enough he had me and even had great blockers vs me, but it matterd not when I hit that river.

Bankroll at 404 and building its way back up!

Today was a roller coaster swing aswell basically not winning a hand from 20usd profit to 180 down before making a come back. Luckily I came out huge in some big pots today.

Anyway lets show some juice hands.

At the same table this hand happend. Not a hand i normally like to play, but the SB and BB are both maniacs so a small set here on the button can be very profitable. It didint take me to long to push it in on the flop, and I actually felt pretty confident in it since I felt there was a good chance they were blocking each other wits sets and pairs a lot of the time. Also a big chance that a 8 would not have been good incase one of them had some kind of monster wrap with flush draw which would have blocked me hard. But it turned out to be the best case scenario with them blocking each other and none of my outs. On the flop I dont think SB is ever folding aswell, so I figured calling/shoving 45 to win 80 was very close to if I should have folded or call. I had invested very little in the pot and could have gotten away from it fairly easy if I wanted to. Since its a fairly break even play I prefer getting it in to maintain the image that Im willing to gamble and having people guessing if im stacking with a strong made hand or a draw.

Also a hand vs a very weak non reg villain and it played pretty much like the first hand posted, but with the out come not going in my favor. I was not folding any flop, and on this one were I block the 8 I felt I would be in very good shape for only having a pair of aces. Boy was i wrong, as so,on as I saw his hand I felt drawing dead, I wasent that big a dog in reality.

All in all the day ended with a small profit and the BR is currently at 432!

Today was the last day of play in a while. Last few sessions have been absolutley brutal and the bankroll is currently at 224. Gonna be close to two weeks before the next session and hopefully its gonna go better again after that.

And now im back at it. Was a long day of travel on train that had no air condition, Sweden must have some of the west worlds worst trains. But atleast playing poker again felt good and the focus felt alot better again after a vacation. was a short session ending with a small profit so always nice to start up again with some winnings. Gonna play less for a while I think and start studying properly. Still gonna put in 80-100hours a month and hopefully 20h or so studying. And now there will be a few days with really hot weather so will only play very little or none during the days and just enjoy the sun while still trying to make some money during the nights.

Not much poker played since last update because of a nasty cold. Still a long time since I had a good session even to Ive have booked a few straight wins now and the bankroll is close to 300 again. Hopefully ill get going for real again soon with my health returning and be able to put in a few more hours a day.

Also only playing 3-4 tables at stars atm because I got a stake at another site and its been quite funny tbh. Playing alittle higher in blinds on that site and I dont have much played there at all yet, but on the first night I got to see a complete maniac with VP/PFR and 3bet all over 90% and you can also buy in more then 100bb on that site so he manage to lose about 600-800 dollars in the 75 min I played. I myself didint fare to well, I did double a few times before getting it in a big 3 way all in pre were I lost it all back. Also note worthy on that site is that Ive been playing 5card omaha which I dont have to much experience in and atm I still prefer regular omaha. But its good for the recreational players that want to gamble hard with lots of action although the probably dont find me to fun playing like the biggest nit ever.

All in all the challange to make it to 3k dollars is still limited to only pokerstars.

Not playing enough atm and now Im soon back to 100% from this cold I've been battling, and hopefully will be back to play some more now. The few hours I have been playing has had alot of good action and even to I havent made any big winning sessions in a while they have all been in the green so bank roll is looking alittle bit better then it has been in a while. currently back to 512usd now and felt really good about my game today so hopefully I can keep this going and make some real headway towards my goal.

10th winning session in a row now after a 6 hour sessions with a rocky start swinging from 0 to -30 for the first two hours or so of game play that was frustrating because I didint get anything going. But I managed to play quite well and just like that I won a big one and I started winning every hand. Then after that short rush it evend out for the rest of the session ending in a 126usd win in the end.

Only playing 4 tables at stars atm so not getting in as many hands an hour as I used to, but with playing one table on another site where I cant adjust the table size my screen would be to clutterd if I started more tables and it would make my focus decay alot from stressing with tables. Gonna need to move again soon but after that Ill probably invest in another screen, used to play dual screen before and that really helps I find when playing 6 tables+. But for now 4 tables + 1 works really well where I feel I got 100%.

Also playing holdem instead of omaha on the other site where im currently getting staked, and thats the game I used to play before with 10 years experience and made 100k+ usd profit from and it already feels like im a better omaha player then holdem. Also think that holdem has changed ALOT last two years and my game is totally outdated, and those that are really good today in the red line are the ones that are crushing it I believe. My omaha red line is also total disaster still to and is definitely the thing I need to work on the most atm, its been in free fall since I started.

Tried to isolate the short stack which I think im gonna be in pretty great shape against for the most part. And when im not I still got the nut flush draw. 88 also blocking some straights aswell. Also being this deep the other big stack might not want to gamble with to many hands and I was actually alittle surprised that he called with QJ there.

Risky board to just call with a middle set, but I didint want to scare of the MP. And also by only calling the MP might over shove some of his more marginal hands. Hurt alot losing that hand when it all played out so perfect on the flop to...

The swings are real in PLO and we play similar stakes. Best of luck.

Main reason my BR is so low is that I started quite recently when I deposited 200usd just to try out pokerstars. Had a really good start and within 6 weeks or so I was up to 2k. Then I figured I might aswell go up in stake since and that 25PLO and 50PLO would be pretty similar. The play was quite similar to, but I didint get anything going during my short stay there even getting stacked several times vs horrible players I had been playing against on 25PLO where they just donked away their money. So I lost a ton and was back to 800 within just a few sessions and decided to go down in stake again to build a bigger BR this time before going up.

And today I played three sessions, first one went great making 170 profit. Then the second session I got beat by several nasty runner runner and got into a free fall loosing 200 usd in 45 min or so.

Then I really missplayed a hand that Im gonna have to blame on me just losing my mind.

The villain here is a recreational player that is very easy to play against since hes playing with his cards showing basically. So already when he 3bets I feel its almost guaranteed he also have AA. Then when he donk bets on the flop I think that he either had a hand like AAJJ or AA with two clubs. So I consider just folding since I dont see it as a possible play to push here when he will always call being favored. Instead I decide to try and out play him hoping for a scare card and make a half pot bet turn then shove on river. But then I make my straight and he pots it right away.

This is where its an obvious fold. But in my tilted stage I tell myself my AA are blocking his AK. Even to that should factor into my decision here, the player im up against here would always check a AA with a flush draw, and also AA with a set.

That is by far the biggest mistake ive done so far at 25PLO. I just quit the tables after that hand being down 300 for the session which I felt I played really well. Especially up until I was down 150 I felt like I played every hand really well and was happy with my decisions even to the outcome was negative.

After cooling down for 30 min or so I decided to play again and I started of bad, but again I felt like I was playing good and soon I was up 50. but then it took another 5 min before I got it all in on two tables at the same time in great shape and lost both hands. Tried to keep going but after not getting anything going the next 30 min I just called it.

Bankroll just went from over 700 to 363 just like that... But as you said, the swings in PLO are real and today I had one of my best sessions followed by one of my worst. And yes, I would reload if I lost it all.

Went better yesterday with a nice profit of 170usd. Still had some frustration losing all my preflop all in with AAxx which isent uncommon to lose in anyway, but still always suck to lose. But I ran very well against one player that is extremly lose with 80%VP and triple barrels bluff all the time, and yesterday he just kept reloading until he was down more then 300 on one table.

This hand happpend to said 80%VP player. He is usually using pot size bets then barreling all three streets so this hand got really easy to play since he went half pot size bet. Which he only uses when he got something but still he doesnt like this hand. When he is empty or got a premium hand its always full size pot bets. So on the turn IF he would have had the 7-T straight its 100% guranteed he would bet pot (he would aswell if he was empty as said). But the half bet made me sure he didint have a straight and it was an easy call with the draws I had going with my two pair. The pot size bet on the river is also a very easy call with the second nut straight which is always gonna be a win or a split here against this player. With having that said I should have raised river, but yesterdays beatdown was still in my head and I questioned myself and with the reasoning he cant call with worse (think he can) I chose to play it safe just incase he actually he did have the 7-T.

Vs same guy again. I like betting out on here just to give him a chance to do something stupid, and when he raises its very unlikely he got something good so I decide to just call. He then sees that as weakness and starts he usual barreling and ofcourse he can still have me beat or have a flush draw, or he might just bluff if a flush hits aswell. So I decide on the flop I will only call all streets no matter what comes just because he is so likely to bluff no matter what comes on turn and river. My hand is also really strong so alot of the time if I raise he will give up his worst hands (which he will have here like 90% of the times) and only continue with the hand when he actually have something.

This last hand is against another weak player that I had not seen before. I felt like a genius after since the play worked :P (felt less genius after I had to google translate "genius" to spell it right -_-). Anyway my first thought after flopping quad aces is always "sigh, trips would have been enough..." But checking back the flop against a weak player can always create some opportunity and here he comes out right away with a pot bet to my delight which I call. I really like the two of diamonds on the turn and go for another check. he then comes out with another pot size bet, and right now im hoping he flopped a house with pocket 3s or that he turned a straight. And my conclusion is also that he either got his hand made by now or he got nothing. And I also dont believe he will dare bluff again on the river if I call two streets with the AA coming on the flop. So I decide that if I go all in now he might very well call if he has made his hand, and if he was bluffing he will fold now on the turn instead of it going check check on the river. (dont think he value bets almost any rivers). The play worked out perfect this time, but its also very likely he would be empty and fold here. Still the logic to play this hand and similar hands against weak players are gonna be one of the better plays then slow playing it to much.

In general its also gonna be alot easier to get the money in on the turn then on the river since everyone who is not completely sure about his hand will feel some comfort with the fact they can improve on the river if they shove on the turn. This is also why bluffing someone on the river is easier then on the turn where they know if they make the wrong decision nothing can save them.

Yesterday I also did not go into the session with the best of mind set, I had done a 5 hour work out bouldering in the woods, then I was completely exhausted thinking I cant play today. But I got some energy back a few hours after dinner and after playing about 2 hours being up around 75usd I went down to two tables and a I started watching the IFSC bouldering world champion ship finals on half the screen while playing only two tables. This is something I used to do a few years ago, but then I used two screens next to each other and play 5 tables on one screen and then watch some Netflix show on the other. That obviously makes you play worse with less focus on the tables. Nothing I want to go back to since it long term really hurt my poker where I basically kept going like a robot not learning anything, but I was happy to watch shows making 15usd an hour... But wont go back to that and keep my focus at the game!

BR at 530 and winning 6.90BB/100 atm, hoping to get it back to over 10 which would be super good and pretty hard to do.

Didint take long to get it in again vs the same player and it just shows how weak he pushes pot bets on the flop and even stacking of with his garbage hand. He was up quite abit now when I quit so I hope ill see him again tomorrow or so. Would have kept playing him if it was not for the reason im heading over to a dinner party so decided to quit to give myself some time to do an update here on 2+2 and then relax alittle before heading over there. Wont play more when I get home since it was a long time ago I learnd that coming home alittle tipsy and decide to play just an hour never ends well. But if we dont keep going for to long then I think I might stop by the casino and play some live 1/1 or 2.5/2.5 usd blinds and have some drinks while doing some fun gambling. Not sure if Ill go for NLHE or PLO. NLHE live is so slow, but the tables are also soft as hell. PLO is wild and equally soft, but the variance can make the session really short. Still having 2-3 beers and some fun PLO action does sound very tempting atm and is probably where im gonna end up if I get to the casino.
