Quick update,

Honestly I’ve been playing great poker since I started. Took a few days off and ran absolutely terrible yesterday but bringing it back (hopefully anyways).

Playing well and not getting the results has to be one of the most frustrating things in poker.

Will post another update Saturday morning which will mark 1 week since the challenge began. I have some work to do.

IF your playing on wsop.ca I don't know how you can fail tbh. play 10 hours a day like your life depends on it (seems like it might) play as many tables and you can. cant lose with the rb they give you if you put in effort. whats your screen name

I played ****ing great this week. I was breakeven for most of the week, but I’m Thursday I took off like a ****ing rocket ship. Mental game on point and hoping to go into week 2 with the same mental strength as week one.

Carrot Corner tries to sound smart like 99% of youtubers who do poker videos teaching people how to make a living at poker when they obviously can't. I definitely would saying its money down the drain putting any money into any youtuber. They are on youtube cause they can't grind for a living. You are best off to get monker solver and go through hands you are playing to see what ranges are best to use on different board textures. PLO is way bigger money then holdem. My first 10 years grinding nlh for a living I made a lot of money, but I made almost 2x as much playing PLO tables with holdem. I still would say fires up maybe 4 plo tables with 4 holdem tables to get enough volume in every year. Your going to make a lot of money if you do this and also use monker to fix your leaks. If you do it any other way you are going to lose the 2k and be homeless. And with 2k start at micros don't 1 table at higher limits your money will be gone within a few weeks. Grind up the 2k beating the weaker micro players to 5k then move up to low limits. After you beat those limits you should do fine with 10k at midstakes and don't move above midstakes or you are playing world class players in general.

Your going to lose your entire bankroll by end of this month if you don't start at micros. But poker players like to learn the hard way... Congrads on the start though. I do hope I am wrong, but I haven't been.

At the risk of derailing the thread, this isn't exactly accurate. There's lots of reasons why people might want to "cash out" and not grind for a living. Having dependents (wife/kids) can seriously knock people's risk tolerances. I certainly wouldn't want my kids on the street because I hit a downswing, and what would the government think if they knew I'd "gambled the house away"?

stable income isn't anything to sniff at. you'd happily take your EV every month instead of the variance results.

also carrot corner isn't complete dingus. he offers some good concepts in videos, they just aren't solver-backed. grinders manual is outdated for sure, and i can't see how I'd get 2k value from the level 3 course (if its called that), but it's not like his stuff can't leave weak players better-informed. just have to avoid the buzzword.

I mean, he's not Bryn Kenney or Phil Ivey, but he's got alot of solid stuff in there that certainly helped me out a ton. Now would I pay like 2k or whatever it is for his full scholarship package? Absolutely not. However, He's coached alot of successful players, and if anything, I think his inability to produce a winning graph probably comes down to a mental game issue or him knowing what he should do, but just not pulling the trigger on it himself, for whatever reason.
