should be fun to terrorize the table like that

meh was gonna pla a long mega session but kinda tilted right now. lost three $80 pots all as huge favourite vs megadroolers just like this one:

PokerStars - $0.25 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (MP): $37.61
CO: $27.19
BTN: $24.65
SB: $172.79
BB: $23.10
UTG: $43.91

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero has J Q

fold, Hero raises to $0.80, fold, fold, SB raises to $2.75, fold, Hero calls $1.95

Flop: ($5.75, 2 players) T Q Q
SB bets $8.50, Hero calls $8.50

Turn: ($22.75, 2 players) 7
SB bets $21.75, Hero raises to $26.36 and is all-in, SB calls $4.61

River: ($75.47, 2 players) 2

SB shows 2 2 (Full House, Twos full of Queens) (Pre 48%, Flop 7%, Turn 5%)
Hero shows J Q (Three of a Kind, Queens) (Pre 52%, Flop 93%, Turn 95%)
SB wins $73.47

so 5BI below EV which isnt a big problem in itself but i just need to cool down a little. playing really well tho so probly another session later

hands: 2089
hours: 2.00
profit: $35
sattys: 23/75
br: $3732

seriously get rid of the fear and move up
blakkman08 Malta grindaments Quote
04-21-2012 , 10:55 PM
nobody said anything about fear. i have my reasons.

which are: i play better when i have more than 80 buyins for the given limit. i want to move up and be able to try out some changes in case the first few sessions go bad or whatever. if i tried that now and had one bad session and then cashed out my end of the month cashout i suddenly would have to grind one full month more at nl25. i personaly dislike the idea of 'taking shots'. poker is a game of variance and even the best players can go and lose for a number of sessions and if they are consecutive this sucks. i like my BR to be able to suffer these swings without ever having to move down from any limit i chose to be playing. so nl50 will have to wait a little longer

fwiw: i know that i could beat nl50 easily its obv not about that. this is my job now. and as such i want to keep the risk of ruin below 0, never move down and never have to worry about my br as such

Was just gonna write I sense a demeanor change in blakk recently. Seems a little more businesslike. Then I remembered the Willis embed. Hmm! Perhaps not. Perhaps so, though, since he is now

Spoiler:
UTG

Spoiler:
He will be ok, though.

Suggestion: Withdraw from roll until you have 1/2 months expenses saved but you leave enough to shot take at 50nl (~2500?). then at least you have 1-2 months paid up and you can be more aggressive and make the move without worrying about bills or not making enough.

That was sort of The plan . Except that 2500 is not enough for me

ouch, how is sitting in a chair?

im surprised that 2500 isnt enough, i mean 50 BI, if you drop 15 youll stil have 35 left which is more than enough. Also, lol @ u droping 15 BI, something catostrophic would have to happen to cause that...

Was blakk playing $5nl at the beginning of the year ?

If thats the case then being comfortable at $25nl in April with a padded bankroll is pretty decent progress ..

If he keeps going at this rate he will be playing $100nl+ by the turn of the year without really taking any risks and without much stress ..

I say .. take your time ... at least this gives me more time to play catch up

Lol I ve been unable to move since last night pretty much. No grind today I m afraid

If u re happy playing with 35 it's great but for me to be able to play as good as I expect myself to I need to be overrolled

Hey Blakk, want to say thanks for a great thread from someone who's learning the game. When the US gov finally pulls their head out and we can play poker again, I hope to make my own journey up the ranks.

On the subject of BR management, the plan that you're following is actually very similar to what Jonathan Little recommended. He did an exercise where he started playing .05/.10nl with 30 buy-ins ($300) and was working his way up the levels. His advice is to increase the number of buy-ins in your BR as you move up to better handle the swings from tougher opponents. By the time he was ready to start playing $1/$2, he'd have 50 to 75 buy-ins.

Regardless, we all have to do what works for us. Keep up the good work and good luck.

hey blakk!

didn't find any info about your stats since you switched to SH
(i would guess it's smth like 21/18 with 5.8 3bet%)
i would be interested in the adjustements you made!

i know you've been pretty LAGy on FR but I would assume you've started out a little tighter at SH which would be totally correct, since you would have to know how solid TAGs are thinking to get to know how you can put them in awkward spots etc.

anyway, i wish you the best of luck, since we are not playing against each other anymore i can do it now :

Hey Blak, long time lurker ITT - sick progress. Two things, firstly, take your sweet time moving up. 50NL will be still be running tomorrow, or in a month's time. Nothing wrong with waiting till your roll is huge and your confidence is high. Right now I'm grinding 100NL with $12k and have no plans to move up for at least another 100k hands.

Second, do you have any helpful links surrounding strat in the 235fpp hyper sats? A few horses have some FPP's stored up and I don't want to waste value taking rubbish cash bonuses.

Keep killin it.
