EPT main Event Day 1A

i slept through the 2200€ IPt highroller because i ended up playing a late online session after busting on the bubble of the 1k and obv binked the one mtt that took the longest to finish. felt kinda meh about it so was rly looking forward to playing the main. was kinda unsure about it too though given the high buyin but after talking to sifiasco deepz and dat_anon_pgc (lol) it looked like i had to paly day 1a if i was gonna play it at all. went to bed early but then just ended up rambling for hours with sifiasco about random stuff and suddenly it was 5am and my alarm was going at 10. i reset it to 11 and tried to sleep and managed to squeeze in about 5.5 hours of sleep woke up and thought its now or never and went for it. had massive back/shoulder pain from the grind on saturday (dropped 5k in super boring fashion) so first thing i did was get a massage at my table.

first table looked fairly soft with a rich eastern european guy chattign up the dealers and shouting random stuff to random people everywhere, a german weaker palyer on my right and fairly nitty players on my left. felt surprisingly comfortable when i sat down and was super focused even tho i hadnt slept optimally

hands:

german dude on my right opens CO to 300 at bb100 (he had opened to 250 before as well) and i flat KJ. could be a 3b but given his two sizings it hought he has a slightly stronger range than the 250 open.

bb calls as well.

flop 974

german bets 600 here and i call. i think both his sizing and my hand make for a realy good float spot to try and win the pot later. bb folds

turn 5

german checks and i bet 1600, he calls. when he calls i put him on mainly pair plus draw type hands as i think strong hands tend to barrel on this turn.

river 3

german leads 1400 into a pot of 5400 and i raise to 6800. i think i could prob go a little bigger as he basically always has a 6 but i think the size is okayish. when i discussed it with friends i thought the pot was bigger but doesnt look as bad now. he snapcalls 66 and starts mumbling to himself


fedor joins the table across from me. we play one hand where i check back A8 on A44 and call his turn lead on 6 and then tank call his big river bet on sth like 2 and he obv had the j8. think despite blocking a diamond its probably a fold tbh. this hand is leading up to the following one

german was issued a one round penalty for only calling a bet with an ace on KQJT so sb is sitting out. fedor makes it 525 at bb200 25 ante. i peel 53 in the big

i bet i think around 2k and fedor fkn bombs it to 10500. i tank and tilt at my river sizing and then fold as he has all the nutted hands in his range and i look super strong myself. was talking to myself for a decent while after this.

we started talkign during the break and he s really an awesome guy we instanly got along and made some plans to grab dinner together. next hand was first after teh break:

i get AA and make it 750 in MP at bb300 ante 25

fedor 3bets SB to 2250 and i make it 5200. call.

he checks and i wasnt quite sure whether i wanted to barrel turn or not. i genuinely felt like i would hardly have any Tx in my 4b range here and if i did triple JJ and QQ would end up making herofolds otr anyway so i felt like it would be better to check my range on this turn and play rivers.

river is a brick 2o and he checks. i bet 11000 pretty quickly and he tanks for a bit, says 'range call' calls and mucks QQ. kinda lame runout as on many different ones i get three solid streets. w/e

we then go grab dinner together and just talk forever, he seems like a real genuine person, asked questions seemed super enthusiastic about everything and offered a helping hand if i were to make vienna my new home which seems likely. went back and i was resat at a table with Adrian Mateos on my direct left and "0PIGGYBANK" to his left. lol. puke. whatever i have around 60k at this point at bb400 so things are good.

hand which may have influenced the next hand was me opening AQ in EP getting called by piggybank in Mp and nitgrampa in the BB. flop AJTdd me no diamond i checked as pfr and checked around turn 2o grampa leads i call piggy folds river 3 grampa checks i check behind he shows A2o. nh.

next hand or next orbit im not sure i open 87 to 1000 at bb 400

in EP get again flatted by piggy and grampa flop comes A9T

i feel like i dont want to cbet many hands on this flop at all so i check looking to decide if piggy bets. he bets 2100 grampa calls and i call gettinf decent odds.

turn 5

we all check

river 7

grampa (who has led strong hands into the field before) checks and i decide to bluff. really on the fence about this one. seems like the flush draws that piggy has here usually are of the combodraw nature meaning super huge equity with deep stacks and position so they would bet turn a lot and when he checks he usually has AK/AQ type hands. given grampas check and the fact that simply combo wise piggy has bluffcatchers here a lot while i could have a decent few flushes play exactly this way i decide to make a big bet of 10k into 11k. piggy tanks forever and makes a fold and grampa snapfolds

next orbit pigy is down to 15k at bb500 and i have Ak otb. i minraise he makes it 3k i jam he has AA nh etc

then i lose a few smaller pots and get A4 in the sb and we see HJ open to 1k co call and grampa call otb. i squeeze to 4100. OR fodls caller 1 folds grampa calls. we have a pot of 10k and grampa has 25k behind.

flop T42

i bet 3600 grampa calls. sizing seems fine with range there s rly not much he can do about it plus he s prob the type of guy to raise sets so bonus there. i m planning on jamming a variaty of turns for what will be just over pot and put massive pressure on him

next i get KJ open to 1350 at bb600 in Mp and piggy 3bets to 3k i call

i then went on to 4b A8 vs adrain who 3bfolded a ridic amount of hands today and 3b me for the first time right after the Kjss hand. i felt like a) he would think his first 3b vs me esp after folding so many vs 4bets prior would look strong b) that point a) leads to him 3betttign the same range he always 3bets which apparently cant stand much 4b heat. goes 1350-3200-6500 call

i bet 6500 looking to jam hearts but he folds


last hand nit grampa makes it 2350 UTg at bb600. the last 3 times he made it more than 3x he always had rly strong hands. azerbaidjan spazreg flats and i decide there rly isnt much value in 3betting AKo here so i call. adrian on my left proceeds to jam 40bb. grampa tanksfolds called folds i call and hold vs AQo.


i ended the day with 87400 going into 400/800/100. overall rly happy with my play, wasnt scared money had a pretty clear head overall. happy to be able to sleep in tomorrow and rly looking forward to day2. vamos
