K, 2+2 was down for a while, and I used this time at South-Africa, at a friend's wedding+safari. Came back relaxed and I feel that I played this week really well (while running 7 buy-ins below EV).

This weeks graph:

Some interesting hands:

Hand 1: Vs. a spewy reg

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $576.74
BTN: $400.00
Hero (SB): $400.00
BB: $455.07

Hero posts SB $2.00, BB posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has 8 8

UTG raises to $10.00, fold, Hero calls $8.00, fold

Flop: ($24.00, 2 players) 3 7 2
Hero checks, UTG bets $17.10, Hero raises to $51.65, UTG raises to $86.20, Hero calls $34.55

Turn: ($196.40, 2 players) 9
Hero checks, UTG bets $54.65, Hero calls $54.65

River: ($305.70, 2 players) 2
Hero checks, UTG checks

Hero shows 8 8 (Two Pair, Eights and Twos) (Pre 52%, Flop 46%, Turn 2%)
UTG shows Q 9 (Two Pair, Nines and Twos) (Pre 48%, Flop 54%, Turn 98%)
UTG wins $304.20

Pre flop, and flop CR seems pretty standard to me. His smallish 3bet is very suspicious and really confused me. Not sure I played this hand well.

Hand 2: Difficult decision on the turn vs. a very good reg

PokerStars - $6 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (BTN): $1,109.99
SB: $311.52
BB: $667.32
UTG: $671.11
MP: $699.23
CO: $910.18

SB posts SB $3.00, BB posts BB $6.00

Pre Flop: ($9.00) Hero has Q A

fold, MP raises to $15.00, fold, Hero calls $15.00, fold, fold

Flop: ($39.00, 2 players) Q J 8
MP bets $27.93, Hero calls $27.93

Turn: ($94.86, 2 players) 5
MP checks, Hero bets $58.91, MP raises to $174.00, Hero calls $115.09

River: ($442.86, 2 players) 4
MP checks, Hero checks

MP shows K A (High Card, Ace) (Pre 74%, Flop 28%, Turn 16%)
Hero shows Q A (One Pair, Queens) (Pre 26%, Flop 72%, Turn 84%)
Hero wins $440.06

Pre, flop, and turn float seems standard. The CR confused me (he has only 4% CR turn on a big sample), but smelled a bit fishy (can't see any normal-strong hand plays like that). Wasn't sure what to do if he would shove river.

Hand 3: Some passive game by me on a very wet flop

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (BTN): $719.07
SB: $395.65
BB: $502.24
UTG: $435.20
CO: $812.50

SB posts SB $2.00, BB posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has J K

fold, fold, Hero raises to $8.80, fold, BB calls $4.80

Flop: ($19.60, 2 players) 5 6 J
BB checks, Hero bets $10.10, BB raises to $28.00, Hero calls $17.90

Turn: ($75.60, 2 players) 2
BB bets $52.00, Hero calls $52.00

River: ($179.60, 2 players) T
BB bets $142.00, Hero calls $142.00

BB shows 4 8 (High Card, Jack) (Pre 37%, Flop 20%, Turn 18%)
Hero shows J K (One Pair, Jacks) (Pre 63%, Flop 80%, Turn 82%)
Hero wins $460.80

I guess going for a flop all-in is +EV but it seems that when all the money goes in on the flop I'm in best case about 60-40, and at worst case I'm a huge underdog. I love playing these wet boards with marginal hands with somewhat passive nature, carefully noticing the turn and river cards + villain's sizing and make my decisions.

Hand 4: I probably made a mistake, and the correct river move should be bet-fold, but am not certain of it yet, would love to hear some opinions.

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Turn: ($163.70, 2 players) 2

Would love to hear some opinions on the hands, and on the last one especially.

I've been waiting for more than a week to a single session where I won't run so bad ev-like, and here it came, and this is how it looks

Ton of interesting hands, I tried to pick the best ones:

Hand 1: Aggression vs loose-semi-good reg

PokerStars - $6 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

CO: $628.28
BTN: $689.48
SB: $884.20
Hero (BB): $604.10
UTG: $835.76

SB posts SB $3.00, Hero posts BB $6.00

Pre Flop: ($9.00) Hero has 3 5

fold, fold, BTN raises to $12.00, SB calls $9.00, Hero calls $6.00

Flop: ($36.00, 3 players) 7 T 3
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN bets $29.22, fold, Hero raises to $82.34, BTN calls $53.12

Turn: ($200.68, 2 players) 4
Hero bets $119.64, BTN calls $119.64

River: ($439.96, 2 players) 3
Hero bets $390.12 and is all-in, BTN calls $390.12

Hero shows 3 5 (Three of a Kind, Threes) (Pre 41%, Flop 18%, Turn 14%)
BTN mucks 4 T (Two Pair, Tens and Fours) (Pre 59%, Flop 82%, Turn 86%)
Hero wins $1,217.40

The plan was to c-f almost any river, I have the villain on 2 of 3 called flop CR an fold to a turn bet, so figured he was quite strong. The river card was delicious for my actual hand, and a nice bluff card for my missed draws etc.

Hand 2: Some call to 4bet oop, given the right odds + loose 4bettor

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $223.34
MP: $505.92
CO: $65.00
BTN: $238.88
SB: $155.32
Hero (BB): $791.22

SB posts SB $2.00, Hero posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has 7 Q

fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to $8.80, fold, Hero raises to $29.00, BTN raises to $50.00, Hero calls $21.00

Flop: ($102.00, 2 players) 6 5 A
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($102.00, 2 players) 4
Hero bets $190.00, fold

Hero wins $99.20

Hand 3: A "Hihi" hand, vs good and aggressive reg

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BTN: $644.01
Hero (SB): $629.95
BB: $449.71
UTG: $572.59
CO: $400.00

Hero posts SB $2.00, BB posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has T T

UTG raises to $12.00, fold, BTN calls $12.00, Hero calls $10.00, fold

Flop: ($40.00, 3 players) 5 5 Q
Hero checks, UTG bets $28.00, fold, Hero calls $28.00

Turn: ($96.00, 2 players) T
Hero checks, UTG bets $72.00, Hero calls $72.00

River: ($240.00, 2 players) 8
Hero checks, UTG bets $376.00, Hero raises to $517.95 and is all-in, fold

Hero wins $989.20

Hand 4: Same reg from hand 3

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

CO: $628.40
Hero (BTN): $447.20
SB: $400.00
BB: $656.80
UTG: $456.20

SB posts SB $2.00, BB posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has T J

fold, CO raises to $12.00, Hero calls $12.00, fold, fold

Flop: ($30.00, 2 players) 9 8 Q
CO bets $20.00, Hero raises to $56.07, CO calls $36.07

Turn: ($142.14, 2 players) J
CO bets $84.00, Hero calls $84.00

River: ($310.14, 2 players) 3
CO bets $476.33 and is all-in, Hero calls $295.13 and is all-in

CO shows 4 A (High Card, Ace) (Pre 56%, Flop 25%, Turn 17%)
Hero shows T J (Straight, Queen High) (Pre 44%, Flop 75%, Turn 83%)
Hero wins $897.60

On turn I put him on some semi-bluff, and given our dynamics I thought he will shove any river, especially if I just call on such a "wet" board on the turn.

Hand 5: Not-sure-I-played-it-optimal hand of the session

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

UTG raises to $8.00, fold, CO calls $8.00, fold, Hero raises to $52.00, fold, fold, CO calls $44.00

Flop: ($120.80, 2 players) 2 T 5
Hero bets $63.72, CO raises to $192.00, Hero calls $128.28

Turn: ($504.80, 2 players) 7
Hero checks, CO checks

River: ($504.80, 2 players) J
Hero checks, CO checks

Hero shows K K (One Pair, Kings) (Pre 87%, Flop 97%, Turn 100%)
CO mucks J Q (One Pair, Jacks) (Pre 13%, Flop 3%, Turn 0%)
Hero wins $502.00

Villain is pobolero, one of the top 5 players on stars IMO (if you take out nosebleed tables). This guy scars the **** out of me

Replies would be more than welcomed....

Quick weekly summary -

Ran at 12 big-bets per 100 hands, excpected 10 big-bets per 100. I feel really good with my current poker-state-of-mind, because most of this week's sessions were played in slow-hours, mostly against top-notch regs, whom I've managed to crush.

It's time for a monthly summary WooHoo :}

I ended May running about 5.5 Big-Bets per 100 hands, pretty happy about my winrate, especially after lower winrate at April.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on your turn bet here 3way with a fish in the pot on one of the worst turn cards to barrell. Doesn't the fish have way too many Kx combos in his range compared to 7x 5x and flush draws? I could see it being EV+ vs just the fish if we intend to fire river but I never make this turn bet 3way so it'd be great to hear your reasons.

Great thread as always, my favourite on 2+2 for making me think outside my standard lines.

A5s hand:

Pre Flop: ($9.00) Hero has A 5

Flop: ($75.00, 3 players) K 5 7

Turn: ($222.60, 3 players) 2

River: ($530.30, 2 players) 4

First of all regarding the Kx in the fish range.. though he might have some Kx (most of them will be suited IMO) combos in his limping range, I believe that it is tiny-ish comparing to his small suited connectors range + AXs range + gut-shot on the flop range to be even considered when deciding what to do on the turn..

Pre: kinda standard RWPC, UTG is a fish, runs 51-12, 42% AFQ based on 80 hands. Villain at BB is Scchhmmeefff, one of the most fearsome MSNL regs, and an amazing player IMO, runs on 39-31, 53% AFQ.

When he just flats from BB I imagine him having a MUCH wider range than the usual 23-18 reg at MSNL, because of the fish involvement, and because he thinks he can outplay me regardless to the cards (which is prob true )

Flop: Nice flop to me, can't see BB with KK/AK and the board is somewaht hard to hit a made hand (sets/two pairs). I have no problem playing against any draws as I also have the A to block their good-draw+ace type of hand.

My main reason for betting this flop, besides value etc. is to throw out the reg and stay with the fish. Unfortunately for me, the BB calls, but from the other hand I think we can rule out 55, 77, 75, K7, K5 from BB range. UTG calls right after which leads me to think he has some weak-draw hand (remember he limped pre).

I have the fish on 39% fold to flop cbet, 25% fold to turn cbet, 0 of 2 fold to river cbet.

Turn: turn come a great card for me, no draw is completed, no two pair/set were made, and another million combinations of new-draws were added.

My plan was to barrel again to kick the BB-reg out of the pot, take more value from UTG draws, and check-down the river and taking the pot with my 5 more than 50% of the time. OBV if anyone of them jams I'm folding...

I chose around 70% pot cbet (which is a big bet for me, my standard is 63%), to induce folds from BB (representing big hand... big bet, vs a fish involved etc.) and taking maximum equity from fish (because I will check down river unless a 5/A comes, non flush). Unluckily for me BB calls and fish folds (kinda worst scenario).

River: River comes the exact opposite of a "blank". It completes the 68 draw, the diamond-FD from turn, the A3 FD from flop, 63 FD+gut-shot draw etc.

I went into the time bank and decided that my range after betting the turn is completely polarized, and that the BB will find it very hard (though not entirely impossible because of the fish involvement) to flat-call 70% turn bet with some naked draw. It seemed to me that I can shove river with made hands from flop/turn (AA, AK, KK, 55, 77, 22, 57, K7, K5, K2) + if I had some nice draw I would play the same (any suited diamonds hand, A3 hearts, 68 of any suit) and though I probably do have here some tinish bluffing range, most of my 3barrel range consists of value hands (let's say 80% value/ 20% bluff) and that a great-thinking-reg like the BB will find it very hard to justify a river call in this spot.

Furthermore, I don't really believe that I have any show-down value with my 5, so checking means I almost always lose the hand (pot is quite big now). If we play this river spot twice, and I check it twice I lose 600$, if I shove twice and he calls 1 out of 2 times, I gain 300$ from his fold, and lose 600$ from his call, which makes me -300$ from the spot, which is twice as good than checking... I think he folds to this shove more than 50%..

All this process led me to shove, and luckily for me he kinda insta-folded.

wow, this turned out to be kinda very long and digging

Thanks for that - couldn't have asked for a better reply!

Are we putting BB mainy on K9s,KT,KJ,KQ by the river considering he would fold weak draws OTT, and he can't really have any other busted pair+draw by the river? Would he call the turn with Ahxh without a gutshot too?

Given that range I can definitely see us having no SD value at the river vs the reg - with him having a few combos of backdoor 7dxd and 5dxd as his only combos that always call, meaning we'd only need him to fold maybe 1/2 of his Kx to be EV+?

Exactly.

I think the main point in this river spot is not putting him on ranges and figuring out whether we are ahead or not, but to understand the huge pot that consists of 3 players putting planty of cash in.

When we check we 90% of the time lose the 300$ in the middle (with approximately 140$ of our own) , while when he folds 1 time and calls 1 time, we gain 0$ on average... this an amazing half-a-buy-in difference between the 2 moves...

If you understand this concept, and only THEN start putting him on ranges, and looking at your perceived range as he sees it etc. I think u'll see that he folds this 4 out of 5 times at least, which makes this spot a must-shove-for-value (where the "value" is his gigantic folding equity) spot with all of your bluff range :}

Amazing first third of June has come to an end. For the first time I felt like was one of the most dominating "regs" at 400NL+600NL, lots of "ego" fights with the other regs where I proved my skills and thinking process.

I ran at 10 Big-Bets /100 and my non-sd winnings are looking great.

10 days graph:

It's time for.... u know it... Another weekly summary :}

One of the best weeks in my poker career, ran at 13 BB/100, expected was 11BB. I believe that towards mid-July (after my exam period) I'll make the transfer to 1K NL and see what I'm really worth...

Weekly Graph:

Last week I posted like a million hands, and no one cared So for this week I promised myself that I'll upload no more than 3 hands, which I think are typical for my game and my thinking. Here it comes... Wait for it...

Hand 1: Weird 0-pot hand, BU is a fish, BB is an aggressive reg

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

MP: $600.74
CO: $400.00
BTN: $305.59
Hero (SB): $495.20
BB: $400.00
UTG: $400.00

Hero posts SB $2.00, BB posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has 5 5

fold, fold, fold, BTN calls $4.00, Hero calls $2.00, BB checks

Flop: ($12.00, 3 players) 7 8 5
Hero checks, BB bets $9.00, fold, Hero raises to $22.61, BB raises to $68.00, Hero calls $45.39

Turn: ($148.00, 2 players) 9
Hero checks, BB checks

River: ($148.00, 2 players) 6
Hero bets $165.99, BB raises to $328.00 and is all-in, Hero calls $162.01
Spoiler:

BB shows T 9 (Straight, Ten High) (Pre 50%, Flop 26%, Turn 18%)
Hero shows 5 5 (Straight, Nine High) (Pre 50%, Flop 74%, Turn 82%)
BB wins $801.20

I believe that the reg will raise pre with 77/88, so from the beginning I decided to cr low to find out where I am, and leave me some calling spot for flop & turn in case he does have 46/69.

His flop re-raise puts him in my head on 70% 46/69 and 30% random draw, and these odds are directly driven from my smallish CR.

Turn brought with him a surprising check-behind, which led me to believe he's on some two-pair/strong draw hand.

River gives me much more T's in my range than his range, so I over-bet it, and feel kinda obligated to the random "let's-chop-bluff", NH SIR.

Hand 2: From crazy-saturday-sess, vs a 98-58 fish (not a miss-click, really 98-58), 500bb deep

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BB: $2,144.59
UTG: $1,523.10
MP: $803.20
CO: $400.00
Hero (BTN): $2,116.09
SB: $400.00

SB posts SB $2.00, BB posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has 7 7

fold, MP raises to $10.00, CO calls $10.00, Hero calls $10.00, SB calls $8.00, BB raises to $32.00, fold, fold, Hero raises to $91.00, fold, BB raises to $164.00, Hero calls $73.00

Flop: ($358.00, 2 players) 6 6 T
BB bets $96.00, Hero calls $96.00

Turn: ($550.00, 2 players) 5
BB bets $184.00, Hero calls $184.00

River: ($918.00, 2 players) 3
BB bets $264.00, Hero calls $264.00

Spoiler:
BB shows 2 3 (Two Pair, Sixes and Threes) (Pre 13%, Flop 2%, Turn 9%)
Hero shows 7 7 (Two Pair, Sevens and Sixes) (Pre 87%, Flop 98%, Turn 91%)
Hero wins $1,443.20

Weird hand to look at from where u sit, cause we played at the same table for 1.5 hours. All I can currently say about the hand is that in my head pre-flop I called a smallish 3bet, and flop+turn+river went check-check-check

Hand 3: SB vs BB wars, vs a good solid reg

PokerStars - $4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BB: $412.83
UTG: $119.19
CO: $461.20
BTN: $400.00
Hero (SB): $553.81

Hero posts SB $2.00, BB posts BB $4.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero has T K

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $12.00, BB raises to $36.00, Hero calls $24.00

Flop: ($72.00, 2 players) K K J
Hero checks, BB bets $40.00, Hero calls $40.00

Turn: ($152.00, 2 players) K
Hero checks, BB checks

River: ($152.00, 2 players) 3
Hero bets $477.81 and is all-in, BB calls $336.83 and is all-in
Spoiler:

Hero shows T K (Four of a Kind, Kings) (Pre 47%, Flop 93%, Turn 100%)
BB mucks 9 9 (Full House, Kings full of Nines) (Pre 53%, Flop 7%, Turn 0%)
Hero wins $822.86

I'm pretty sure that if I bet any other amount on the river he folds 100%, and when I check he check behind 100% as well.

That's all for now, give in the head :}

This is something i would never be able to do, don't you think that these fishes will never fold a PP? But also seeing how fishy they are you could maybe v-bet A high like this? :O
I often find myself lost in 3-bet pots vs fishes because i don't wanna start barrell somebody that doesn't fold anything.

Comments are more than aprreciated

AK hands:

Although I don't mind jamming in these spots, I think it's way WAY more profitable to just play post-flop vs players that I consider weaker than me.

Notice that on both of the times their 4bet was on the lowish side (plus what u can't see is that their total 4bet stat is on the lower side, around 6% total), and therefore I think jamming is wrong. They will insta-fold all their weak possessions (like 30% of their 4bet range) and call all the high PP (including KK and AA) which have about 65-35 vs me.

IMO it's either a call either a 5bet. I would 5bet and go all-in vs someone who can shove AQ on me (these players do exist, mostly level 2 regs).

I like Calling.. Keep in mind that not only I miss most of the flops, but them as well. Plus, when calling, u get ALL of their 4bet range inside, including AQ, KQ etc.

Plus, most players just don't know how to play 4bet pots, especially in deep situations, and make a lot of mistakes, sizing-wise and playing-wise.

My main idea here is that if u r a better player, the most important thing for u should be seeing the flop cards

AJ hand: In short, UTG is a great reg, when he just calls I know he has a weak hand, and he calls because he knows that fish at MP will call any hand there as well.

As mentioned, they r both with maximum range + flop is soooo wet + lots of cash in the pot + fish is half-a-buy-in = bet-bet I guarantee u fish will call with 95o as well in this spot.

55 hand: UTG is a 55-35 fish, my 55 ran vs his range at least 50-50 if not more, he has 1/4 buy-in, and when I do this **** with 55, I get TONS of value when I do it with JJ (as u can imagine). Plus, not to mention the weird dynamics that the table gets when I do this crazy **** (as you can see from the continuation of the hand).

I presume you're asking about the turn-call. Since you have 25% on the turn and has to call 181,6$ more for a 870$ pot (20,8%), you have both good direct odds and very good implied odds.

Keep updating. Subscribed!

We have 1/8 stack to pot ratio left on the river, wouldn't exactly call that good implied odds

But yeah he is getting such a good price on the turn that I don't think he can fold with that many outs.

I am wondering about your reasoning for 3betting to this big of a size, since you normally seem to use the more standard 3x. What do you look for in your villains game when making this decision?

What do you think of villains 4bet sizing in this hand? Since you classified him as a "better reg" I would expect him to 4bet significant larger here, since he is OOP and UTG so his range should be at his tightest? I guess you are still flatting this hand to a 4bet like 76?

I find BB's line in this hand so strange.. What range do you assign him on the river once he checks and how likely do you think it is that he calls or folds (like 50% fold 50% call) ? Don't know if you're a math guy but you probably at least have a feeling right?

Haha :-). I'd say it's pretty good implied odds, when you have better than neutral direct odds and some $ left behind. The 1/8 SPR makes it even better I think, since I think it's more likely to get in the to the middel, when there's so little left.

Tx a lot.

I guess mostly pre-flop leaks (e.g calling/folding too much to a 3bet, not 4betting enough/4betting too much, mostly balance issue etc.) .
