Why do you continue OTF ? My range has 7+ or draw 50% of the time here and I fold the rest.

My only comfort relies in that I think he calls any river besides A/K as well...

Would be a ballsy call on the river T

Hello, first time posting in your thread.

Im curious as to the result of your kc4c hand. Seems like a spot on the turn where the Jc improved your range more than his, so if hes a solid reg, he could check back AcXc to avoid getting blown off.

I would lean towards calling since a blocker seems like a liklier hand but if hes not all that capable of 3b shoving, then prob not?

Just wanna see more of your thoughts here

I thought that he has very few pure value combinations, and many more other hands there, figured I can take pot on later streets... OBV was wrong Ha Ha :}

Hi there and welcome
Regarding my thoughts in that spot, I already discussed it thoroughly in earlier posts.

Regarding checking-behind AcXc OTT, it seems like in 100bb depth it might be the case, pretty sure he is NEVER checking behind nut-draw-hand+gutshot, considering how deep we are and that he still have at least a call OTT if I check-raise it.

Regarding result, I decided not to post it, sorry.

Great!

Since beginning of December was playing only 500NL Zoom, for VPP accumulation purposes.

52,000 Hands were played, 5.6 bb/100 effective, 7.2 bb/100 expected, plus 1,000,000 coolers and What-Not.

Generally speaking am very pleased of myself for December, despite running 13 Buy-Ins below EV managed to not tilt, stay in focus, and just play my A-Game most of the time.

After about 2/3 of the month playing only 3 tables of zoom simultaniously, moved to play 4 tables because realised that I'm missing my VPP goal, so down 8,000$ EV-wise to get a 2,800$ bonus = I'm a clown

Especially pleased from my non-show-down-red-line, that gave in the head, vs a so-called "reg-infested-field".

Girrafe:

Spoiler:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gonna take a one-week brake, in which I'll write a yearly summart + yearly graphs, catch up on my real-life-tasks that were delayed in the past month, get into PokerTracker4, and scan through my database for "search && destroy" operation VS my leaks.

May we all have a new 2013 , full of self-awareness.

Must have thought you have zero combos of trips/fhs in your flop raising range. Probably not too many of 8x hands in your pf call range to begin with HIJ vs UTG.

Interested on if you feel it's a good idea to have a raising range on this flop? surely it just weakens your continuing range if you call to the point where he can barrel you easily.

Very nice year though, what do you do apart from poker? only 512k hands seem weak when you're making this much.

Also ever thought about moving out of Israel? The taxes are obviously annoying, and the war situation must surely effect you?
Obviously it is one of the most pretty places in the world on the coast but still.

I think generally speaking you should try to play aggressive poker when possible, so there are plenty of spots where you need to choose between going for a raise with most of your range (nuts + w/e) VS going for a flat with most of your range. Both are prob fine, I usually go for the aggressive line..

Regarding Israel... I Have lived a year in Rio De Janeiro (prob the only place that competes with Tel-Aviv IMO), half a year in Playa Del Carmen (Mexico), and spent a lot of time in Central+South America, Europe etc.

Didn't find any other place like Tel-Aviv, I happily pay my taxes as any other normal citizen (although prob working less hard physically speaking from the average citizen), have plenty of plans developing from my so-called "poker career", the "war" situation that you see in the news is OBV not the day-to-day life that you see from where I sit, and man, soooo many fun people walking around the city, day and night... WooHooo for Tel-Aviv

2012 Summary

Finally got the time to summarize this long 2012 year, and end this P&C thread with a proper final post.

So…

Started the year at the 1st of January, with 2,500$ In my PokerStars account, and was playing 100NL.

By April I made 17,000$ at 200NL, with a winrate of 10bb/100, and took some shots to 400NL (around 6 of them), which ended poorly with a -10bb/100 winrate on 10k hands.

During these 3 months I drastically changed my game style, my opening ranges, 3bet ranges etc. and was reading a LOT about poker, hand analysis, wells, P&C threads and was always thinking thinking thinking.

I decided to take a serious shot at this "poker" and opened a P & C thread at the Israeli 2+2 called Poker-Land (and later on this thread on 2+2). The challenge was to be a 1000NL reg by the end of the year. I set myself a bankroll management rule of 30BI for moving up/down the stakes and went on.

At the first week of April I gave a nice 15k hands run at 200NL, with a total of 7,500$ profit, and a 25bb/100 winrate, and decided that this time, my shot to 400NL is gonna succeed.

It DID.

From around the 8th of April, and up until the end of June, I literally CRUSHED the 400NL, with a crazy winrate of 18bb/100, and even took some shots to 600NL when there was a good game, and managed to win at 2bb/100 on 20k hands. During these 3 months I've made a 62,000$ profit (of which 36,000$ were made in June, best month up to date, probably ultimate grinder at 400NL for June) and decided to pay taxes for poker income in Israel, where poker is semi-illegal.

Life was good.

Here ends the optimistic side of the story…

July was probably my most critical month for 2012. Things I took upon myself in July:

• Opening a private-business of my own, with "online poker activity" definition, in order to pay taxes for my earnings.
• Moving up to 1000NL (prob too soon) and playing it simultaneously with 400NL and 600NL, up to 14 tables at once.
• Becoming very active in the Israeli Poker Union, and generally trying to promote Poker's legal status in Israel.
• Mid-term exams at the University, second semester, 3rt year, Industrial Management Engineering.

Obviously all this crazy-**** around didn't help at all to my mental abilities, I was very tired all the time, doing lots of early morning commitments, and had very few spare time. I decided to take a serious shot at 1000NL and budgeted myself with plenty of Buy-ins to grind it out. I played a lot of hours (for me at least..), didn't go to most of my exams, and in general was running around from place to place with continuous feel of urge.

July was very swingy, and I Finished the month with 63K hands, -3,000$ (EV-wise was +4,000$).

My winrate at 400NL took a steep dive to 7bb/100 (prob was not playing my best when at the same time several tables of 1000NL+2000NL were open).

On the brighter side, finally crushed 600NL (9bb/100 on 17K hands).

On the darker side, I was totally being crushed at 1000NL+2000NL (down 20K$ on 7k hands, around -30bb/100) due to coolers, run-bad, and not playing good enough.

Of course in August I had to study and go to all of my missed exams from July, and my volume went down drastically. Played only 30K hands, won 2,000$ (EV-wise was -2,000$), and although for the first month in my life I actually was winning at 1000NL on 10K hand sample, I felt that my poker game became very weak, especially from the mental-side, I was tilting a lot, making lots of bad calls and playing like crraap in general.

In September I decided to not play anything above 600NL until I re-gain my mental abilities. After 5 sessions at 400NL that ended up break-evenish, in which I felt I wasn't playing good at all, I decided to go back to basics where I always felt like home, with huge winrates – 200NL.

After 3 sessions at 200NL, wher I ended up break-even again, I convinced myself that there is no dishonor in starting up from scratch, and although I had sufficient roll to play 1000NL comfortably, I started playing 100NL.

I played 30K hands at 100NL until the end of September, and lost 1,300$ with a -5bb/100 lose-rate.

Hihi.

July+August+September so far = Break-Even + can't even beat 100NL anymore.

I started up October with a big stone in my chest. I got really sick form 100NL, and decided that October will be all about 200NL, but that I will play only when I feel "In the Zone".

I played 35K hands, with a 2.4bb/100 winrate (lowest to date), and several shots I took to 400NL when I felt I was playing well didn't turn out nicely. The month ended with a 1,600$ loss (Ev-wise = -4,000$).

Around this time I started to ponder about retiring from professional poker.

At November I went back to 100NL and decided that I'm not moving up until I crush this ****** stake. I started watching the Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightment (Tommy DAngelo), focused a LOT on the mental side of the game, tilt awareness etc. and drilled to myself to Relax Relax Relax. I started to listen to classical music while playing (Vivaldi RULES :P ), stopped playing right after a big meal, cleaned up my working-room (was really messy from all the real-life commitments) and much more.

15,000 hands at 100NL with a 6bb/100 winrate convinced me to move up to 200NL again.

23,000 hands at 200NL with a 5bb/100 convinced me to take a shot at my birthday (28/11/2012) at 500NL Zoom.

Thumb Rule – Don't play poker at your birthday.

5 hours of 500NL Zooming, and 6BI below EV was a great introduction to the month of December.

July+August+September+October+Novemebr so far = down 2,000$ + can beat 100NL + 200NL.

I entered December with confidence. November was a relaxation month, where I felt I had pulled my shhiit together, stopped tilting, and felt like I was occasionally playing my A-Game from back then (5 months ago hihi), when I knew exactly what the villain had. I reached already enough FPPs to pay 2012 taxes, so felt more comfortable regarding risking my roll.

I decided to take a shot at 500NL for the whole month of December, mostly to see where I stand before entering a new tax year at 2013, and also because I had 260,000 VPP, and could see the 300K milestone.

I made with myself a mini-challenge of reaching 300K VPP, while playing no more than 3 tables of 500NL Zoom. From the 1st of December and up until the 21/12 I played "OK" and my graph was as followed:

Spoiler:

Plus 25,000$ (EV-Wise +30,000$) , with a 16bb/100 winrate.

I felt I'm crushing, both fish and regs. The only bad thing was that I fell behind the necessary VPP accumulation rate.

So I added the 4th table of Zoom

All in all, December was a great month, I ran 6,000$ below EV (12 BI), didn't tilt more than once or twice and when did tilt, I insta-quit the software. One memorable tilt moment was this hand:

Approaching 2013 very optimistic…

---------------------------------------------

I can't really say that the original challenge was accomplished. I defiantly don't define myself as a 1000NL reg, so from this point of view the challenge had failed.

On the other hand, I do think that I'm a good 600NL and below reg, so not too sad about it, after starting the year with 2,500$ and at 100NL.

Furthermore, I have successfully finished so many "mini-challenges", that eventually were way more difficult than my initial challenge, such as:

• A 5 month & 200K hands break-even stretch, that was really close to break me mentally, and I succeeded in going through it, more strong than before, while proving myself that I can always go down the stakes when nothing works. Also am very glad to spotting the bad period on time, BE >> losing hald of yearly earnings.
• Opening my own business, in a field that is semi-legal to begin with, and paying all the taxes for my earnings from poker online, while leading the way to others that might follow me, and making all the procedures easier, while having to deal with all these morning-type-beurocrats that my life style so far was aimed at not meeting these type of people at all.
• Succeeding in going through my degree, 2013 should be my 4th and last year at University, WooHoo.

All in all, 2012 was a great year, both poker-wise, and "deeds"-wise, hope you guys enjoyed this thread
