Moving down to protect your bankroll is definitely a sign of a strong mental game!

Keep it up!

Challenge continues at 16nl; graph to date:

[IMG][/IMG]

Grinding pretty hard lately, lots of volume but still no great results to speak of. Still feeling pretty good about my game, have made a couple of small adjustments to my c-betting ranges and have played pretty well in my last few sessions. I feel I am making fewer mistakes lately and am feeling much more comfortable since dropping down to 16nl.

Hopefully I'll be able to grind some back before the months ends.

Seems like the hand of variance is affecting the downswing. Just grind that **** out!

May was not kind to me. I am very pleased with my mental game this month, as my mindset has been tested to quite a degree. However, I managed to remain focused and kept tilt to a minimum, ended sessions when I felt I was not playing well or close to tilting, and ridden out this rather brutal run as best I can. I just hope things will turn around and I start running well (or at least averagely!) in the new month.

May graph:

And challenge to date:

All in all, I think I have had a pretty bad run since starting the challenge. I ran some filters etc. in HEM and found that I'm actually in the red for getting AIPF with KK:

and barely winning anything with AA & KK combined AIPF:

And finally, my challenge to date graph looks much healthier and less swingy in BB rather than $$:

I'm pretty sure I can kill these stakes with a little rungood. I'm disappointed that I'm stuck and making no progress, but that's being results oriented. I need to put my head down and play my best in June. Hopefully next month's summary will have a nice healthy giraffe.

Can I get a Gogogo?

Running super hot so far this month. I've smashed about 9BI in 4k hands.

Will post some graphs and hands later when I get home.

I'm adding a new goal to this month, since I need to achieve this to get max value for my FPPs; I have about $150 to grab in bonuses, but to do that I need to ...

[ ] Achieve goldstar status

I should be able to do this in around 30-35k hands, so hopefully I can manage this by the end of the month.

Such a strange phenomenon; it seems that the moment the calender flipped to June, the deck stopped bending me over and brutalising me, and somebody at Stars flipped on the boomswitch.

What do you guys like to see the most in PG&C threads?

Hands for discussion?
Consitent updates when downswonging?
Big bluffs?
Sick river calls?
Strat talk?
Stats?
Hands vs regs?
Owning fishies?

All of the above?

What can I add to the thread for you guys?

Grinding it back up, slowly but surely; challenge to date:

Month to date:

Had a big heater at the start of the month, then hit a nasty downswing to pretty much even out my AIEV for the month. Last two sessions were particularly brutal, dropping about 8BI.

Playing pretty well overall, but have been in a few spots lately where I was lost. Despite all the swings, confusion and occasional mistakes, my mental game is still strong and I'm riding it out pretty well.

Some hands where I got lost:

          The bad run won't end.

The good news is: I'm not tilting when I play. I actually feel as though my technical game has improved lately, which is good news, I guess.

I'm just really sad and getting real, real sick of playing so much for nothing. I'm starting to feel like I just wasting my time when I play. That's the only thing that's bothering me about the whole thing.

IF you aren't enjoying it, I personally wouldn't play , you play poker because its an enjoyable challenging way to make money right? I have this problem when Im losing a bit for the session and try to make the money back, BUT im having no fun and just end up button clicking and losing more

Yeah, I'm just venting. It's not that I'm not having fun, I just... miss having results. I still very much enjoy playing, which is why I still play. It's just even more fun when you're winning.

A couple of OK sessions under my belt since last post, grinded a little back.

I need to keep in mind that the very fist post of this thread was done during/after a HUGE downswing where I ran so badly I thought it would never end. But it did.

Unfortunately, history is repeating itself. I just need to buckle in, stay strong, keep my mental game polished and get through it.

          Thanks for posting, MangoBall.

In other news: I'm really keen to get away from 16nl. It's such a weird frontier limit with a much smaller player pool than any of the other micro stakes. And stupid numbers. Stupid, stupid numbers.

Vs reg: A little deeper than usual. Fold? In hindsight, I hate my flop raise because his range is uncapped obv, mine isn't, and I'm not repping any value hands. Unless I flatted AA to induce a squeeze. I guess I butchered this one.

I'm a bit sad and distracted because my cat, Olive, has been in a fight with something and hurt her leg. I took her to the vet and she was so spooked that she did a wee in her box on the way.

The vet thought it was just a muscular injury so she got some pain relief but when we got home I took another look and she has a scratch so it looks like she was bitten. It has swollen up a little. I want to take her back to be looked at again , but my wife says I'm fussing too much and she'll be fine. My other cat was bitten a while ago and she ended up with a fever and abcess. I don't want that to happen again. I dunno what to do.

              Wishing Olivecat some rungood

Sorry for non-pokerness, I don't really have any other place to talk about this stuff.

Olive the cat had her abscess drained and is feeling much better. Meds & cuddles will see her through.

I, meanwhile, continue to run pretty bad. Can't win when I'm favourite, villains hit sets on turn in 3b pots, the usual.

              Good news:

That's a good post. I'll try to get through the whole thread at some point.

Particularly interesting is the part about hinking of the $$$ you "SHOULD" have won years later. I know that feel, bro.

This is very likely the worst and longest downer/BE stretch I've had since I started playing. It eclipses the bad run I had that inspired me to start this thread.

Played another session after posting the graph above, ended up playing ~1.8 hands for a $2 result. Nice to book a win, I guess.

              Any other advice/reassurance welcome.

I shouldn't really give mental game advice, but I can relate my worst downswing.

So I put $50 on Carbon almost two years ago. Using a 100 big bet rule for taking shots in good looking limit holdem games, I ran that up to ~$650 in just a few weeks.

Then my dog got sick. Putting him down was a particularly painful process. He was my friend for about 14 years. I didn't play poker for a couple of days cus I just wasn't in the mood.

The day we put him down, which was 2 or 3 days after he initially got sick, it was clear that he wasn't going to recover.

We got back from the vet without our dog and I immediately fired up a limit holdem table. It didn't go well. I was unable to make standard plays because I just didn't give a damn. It took a few days and about 3k hands, but I blew most of my roll and I was playing micro stakes by the end of the third day.

Sometimes sitting down at the table is a mistake.

              Long session yesterday for -3BI

Sucked out on again for 1BI, which made me tilt-stackoff another BI which is something I haven't done for a long, long time. I've been strong for so long in this DS, I need to regroup and level my head; I refuse to let tilt creep back into my game and undo my hard work.

Booked +2BI win on Party in the morning, followed by getting brutalised on Stars in the evening for -5BI; set over set, AA<QQ AIPF, lost flips etc.

Bankroll dwindling, if I drop below $400 on Stars I'm gonna be forced to go back to 10nl.

Will post a bunch of hands later, would like to know if I should be getting away from some of these "coolers".

For the first time I'm starting to doubt my game. Although it looks like I'm just getting very unlucky, perhaps I am doing something fundamentally wrong?
