Grinding out 6max turbo SNGs, the game that ran me over 100 buyins under EV and busted me in Dec '12 (5000 vpps from supernova hahaha), getting the 'naam style flashbacks, the horror...

Couple of days off needed.

Seems a bit whiny considering I'm winning at a decent winrate but the bad beats have just been relentless and think another night would push me to stress-level DEGEN.

Will be back to crush the weekend games and hit 200 bones!

Started off dumping a few buyins at cash tables to a mega-donk I had seen jamming any 2 every hand the day before. Happy to see him at the cash tables, not so happy to see his set over 2 pair, ahhhh well.

Almost had to drop down but a few SNGs came through for me finishing the day...

Cheers dude, we'll see in a month or 2

Got quite a few advantages atm, site/field/stake familiarity, low rake & decent rewards, EU player pool, and I can get QQ to hold up vs Q3o Im probably out of shape for the midstakes though.

Cheers buddy, best of luck. No better place to learn than online for cheap, tough games. Still reckon the best value resource for learning are these training sites (deucescracked.com) where you can download their whole library for $30, you will pick up a ton watching them play and explain their thought processes.

Bugger, expenses of moving house and starting a new job have caught up with me and have temporarily had to withdraw £200 until I get paid.

I spose this gives Polk half a chance of catching up if we both have September off from the challenge.

Back soon.

I'm back bebe!

Finally got my first paycheque in years and paid back my bankroll so we're good to go again. This week I'm feeling lazy enough to skip the gym and sit my fat-ass down to grind some SNGs...in the evenings...after work...rock n roll life!

Run pretty nice 4-tabling 10e SNGs and will probably take my next shot when the rolls at 500.

SNGs still my game of choice atm. Rake is a little lower, mistakes are a little greater but there are drawbacks....

1. Collusion far more effective.
2. Nits get rewarded more, harder to exploit than in cash.
3. High variance

Still remains to be seen how much this affects the 25 euro games.

Great as Unibet's rules and views for poker are, the anonymity of players makes it very likely to have collusion issues at higher stakes and given how long it takes to fix simple graphics bugs, I'm very skeptical as to how well these games are policed. I hope I'm wrong and will be reporting anything even the slightly wiffing of soft-playing.

On the contrary I havent seen anything dody up to the 10 euro games.

There're a few different things here.

First, fraud and development are different departments. One team's performance doesn't have much to do with another's.

Second, the graphics bug isn't simple, it's very hard indeed to track down. Otherwise it'd be fixed. This is also happening at a time that we're making version 2.0 of the client, which won't have any of the 1.0 client bugs. That means we can't drop everything just to track this bug down. I'm pretty unhappy that it's still in the client, but in this case we have to prioritise 2.0.

Third, we've invested a lot in the fraud team. We know that lack of hand histories means it's not possible for the community to track colluders/bots down. That's a fundamental risk of our strategy, and so we know we have to be strong here. Obviously this just ends up going on trust, but I hope that e.g. not seeing anything dodgy in the small games goes some way to earning that trust.

Hope you don't think I'm knocking the site, I've had nothing but awesome experiences here and its the only site Ive ever recommended to my very rec friends. Unibet are streets ahead for providing a great place to play and you've done an awesome job Andrew.

Just thinking out loud for the purposes of this thread, documenting thoughts and concerns as I progress through the challenge.

Hopefully this is useful feedback about what some player concerns may be as they rise through the stakes.

Wish me luck and no doomswitch please

I've played both sites a ton in the past but haven't been to either in a few years I'm afraid.

My experience from yester-years is that Stars is a ridiculous nit-fest from 50c games and up and that the smaller sites/skins seem to have a better fish ratio up to the $10-$20 level, much better for building bankrolls.

Throw in Stars' very questionable moves, moneygrabs and pathetic reward system and there's the reason I havent been there in years.

Nice graphics though

Been crazy busy with work this week so have planned to spend the next 2 days in my underpants, should be able to put in a few more hours.

Time-zones for Polk's channel is a bit late for me, is Polk still doing the challenge? Hows he getting on?
