Creating this thread to keep track of my progress pokerwise & stay motivated.

Goals:

• Beat 50nl
• Move up to and beat 100nl near end of year or earlier
• Get a decent sized sample of beating live low stakes
• Supernova, even though this is incorporated in other goals and will be just a side achievement

About me:

I'm 18 y/o attending 1st year of uni in The Netherlands, studying International Business. I started playing poker sometime during age 17, however took it more serious since end of last year.

Online

Around end of last year I started focusing on cash. Friend advised me to start @ 2nl and move up from there rather than jumping straight in 25nl+.

That being said I beat 2nl, moved up to 5nl and beat it, was stuck @ 10nl for about 120k hands, then moved up again to 25nl. Currently I beat 25nl pre rb and am taking shots @ 50nl. Unfortunately I lost my 2/5/10nl graphs however this is 25nl:



The last 15k hands I played tired, unconcentrated, multitasked and played while playing MTTs as well. On top of that I made tilty calls/bluffs. From now on I'm only going to play when feeling well. This is also part of the reason for this thread, as I want to make sure I don't play cash when tired.

I was playing tilted, bad and way too long sessions, so feeling pretty confident I can at least b/e 50nl regardless of past results

Live
I recently started playing live in a nearby game, not in a casino. I'm learning to play live there on low stakes tournies/cash(1/1) and will later this year add casino(1/3) in.

Point of thread
As I mentioned I made this thread primarily to motivate myself; I'll be posting results from live games, graphs from online sessions and maybe the occasional interesting hand. We'll see where it goes from there.

Played live sunday at this pub, first we played a €50 tourny w/ 10 man and I shipped it for €350, so that's +€300.

After some of us played cash and i lost about €60.

Villain is fish, playing way too lose and has been betting a lot then folding when he meets any resistance.

I figured he'd have a J here and was trying to get some value OTR so i raise and figure he can't ever call w/ a J on this board.

It's been a long time since I updated this thread as I was busy with exams irl, however played past 2 weeks a lot. I had 1 more failed shot @ 50nl in meantime and moved down to 25nl again after taking a break.

I beat 25nl for a few days then figured I'd go give 50nl a shot. Again. This time however I made a lot more progress and the past 2 week I dedicated solely to 50nl.

Side note is I have a RIO subscription now and feel it helped me improved my understanding of poker by a lot and definitely contributed to winning @ 50nl. I am aware I ran insanely hot and this upswing is a small enough sample to contribute winnings entirely to variance. However I believe I improved a lot & am going to start taking shots @ 100nl now, making 50nl my maingame rather than 25nl: )

I hope I'll be updating this more than once a month for now!

After creating this thread I didn't feel any desire to post anymore so I didn't haha. Now I am somewhat motivated again to regularly update again, so here goes!

I achieved all my goals that i set at the start of this thread. I beat 50nlz over a 100k sample for roughly 3.5bb/100. I moved up to 100nlz and am breaking even there. I tried the normal 100nl tables and god, there's a world of difference between 100nl an 100nlz.

100nl graph:

At roughly 30k hands I figured I beat 100nl pretty well, so moved up to 200nl mixed with 100nl. This proved to be detrimental for my 100nl graph, I'm pretty certain that the downswing in the end was avoidable had I not mixed 200nl in there.

200nl graph:

I'm obviously running good on 200nl as I don't think I should be crushing it. It's interesting how my red line looks on 200nl in comparison to 100nl, and it's probably rungood again.

Finally my 100nlz graph:

red line looking pretty good there as well, it seems the tougher the game, the better my redline.

For now, I feel 200nl and 100nlz are pretty comparable in toughness and 50nlz equals 100nl quite good. This belief may change as I'm working with small samples.

On a last note, I hit supernova a couple weeks ago and am pretty happy about that. I also bought a new laptop (macbook pro) and it's so far awesome to play on.

Im currently beating nl50 and would want to play nl100 but playing scared money. What did you do to overcome this?

For me, I went from 100nlz to 100nl and 100nl is way softer than 100nlz in my experience. This made me more confident in my game and I went into 200nl with the belief that I'm not worse than the regs there. When I was playing 50nlz a while ago and took shots @ 100nlz, I thought the regs were owning me big time, lol.

So part of the reason I'm caring less about the money is because I believe I have an edge and thus my moves are correct.

I don't think any videos can help you a lot with this, obv also make sure you get in fishy lineups as they are definitely around @ 100nl still.

Another thing that helps that my mate told me (and it works) is being overrolled for what you play, I'm defo more likely to bluff jam a river for $70 when i have an 8k roll than when my br is only 1k!

Thanks for great awnser. Felt the same when i moved up at Zoom. I guess Zoom felt is much harder than reg tables. I guess ima give it a go at 6 reg tables then. Lots of fishes there? Easy to get on tables with them?

Yeah, it's easy to recognize and not all regs have scripts so getting on good tables shouldn't be such a pain, just colourcode the regs/fishes

Last month's graph, quite possibly the most terrible month so far pokerwise! this is some 200nl and mostly 100nl / 100nlz. Made 38k vpps, which is my best vpp month ever. It's funny considering i was on holiday for a week as well, lol. I'm not sure why I got into this downswing for the last half of the month, I probably played badly and when I got back from my holiday i jumped right into 200nl which I probably shouldn't have done, lol.

Next month uni will start again so I probably won't play all that much, aim is roughly 20k vpp and book a profit pre rb as I really cba grinding just for rakeback.

I also decided I'm getting 200k vpp this year
