Hi there, I am bdel123 on pokerstars. I have played many variants of poker from capped cash to mttsng’s to badugi (that was just for fun though) literally nearly all formats pokerstars offer besides some turbo sng’s and as everyone knows when you don’t stick to 1 variant and learn you do not succeed when playing poker. BEING 100% HONEST I AM A LOSING PLAYER. Which is a little hard to admit but to become good at anything in life you have to first access the situation find your holes and try to improve which is what this thread is all about.

Firstly a little about what games I am playing, to start I will be playing anything equal to or less than $5.50 freezouts and $2.20r MTT’s reg speeds. I am currently in a staking deal where I get 45% to bakers 55% I am on an 8 month deal so the %’s will change as I move up and improve.

Now for some goals:
- Well I am on an 8 month deal so I plan to be at $22 freezouts and $5.50r by the end at least.
- Also I really want to get to know more people through poker. So really this goal is just to build and improve relationships in the community.
- I also know that setting a $$$ goals isn’t good so I will just say be in a better financial position then I am currently in and be in no makeup by the end of the deal. Obviously I want to earn a decent amount and have a number floating around in my head but really I just want to become better at poker.
- I also will set myself a challenge to watch a training video or go through 1 tourney hand history a day at least.
- Also I want to get in much better shape – I don’t have a target weight number but just to feel more alive when I wake up and to know in myself that I am fitter then I was at the beginning of this thread. As off now exercise is a problem as I am currently going through physio therapy for my knee which I should have done maybe3- 4 years ago which has just got worst through the wear and tear of playing football every day. So this target will have to wait a while but I am defiantly committed to improve the shape I’m in.
- Another possible goal is to go for supernova but that is more of a pipedream then something I really feel that I can achieve at this stage obviously I will move up it may become possible but as I will only be playing reg speeds it is quite unlikely.

I understand that this is a huge amount for a first post and thanks if you read through to the end. If anyone has questions feel free to ask away.

Also if you are play mtt’s feel free to add me on skype. Brian.delaney14

Also big shouts to people like the_ginger45, yugiohpro and jaypez that are just a few of the 2+2 threads that inspire me to put work in on my game.

I have been thinking more about my goals and what I would like to achieve.

I know that I said that I shouldn’t make $$$ goals but this is more of a target, the aim is that I could play on my own dime or just be in a position where I can have a shot at it. Now obviously there are many variables like if I am still living at my parents in 8 months, if I will have enough time when studying to completely dedicate myself to poker and also if I win enough this year to make it completely possible and another question would be whether I feel like I have learnt all that I can from my backer which I suspect I will not be able to do in just 8 months.

Now if I achieve my goal of getting up to $22 FO and $5.50r I will have an abi of around $13 or so by the end of the stake which means that I would want a BR of at least $5k I know that this is pretty nitty by if I playing on my own I never want to be in a position where busting my bankroll is really possible also it means that I could move up and take shots without having to worry too much.

I also have a few other goals:
( ) tourney score over $500 I know this sounds small but I feel it’s good just to mark each stepping stone and acknowledge that the work I am and will be continuing to put in is paying off. (Kind of short term goal)
( ) I would like over 5 $1k scores throughout the 8 months – this is kind of buy in dependent I suppose but I don’t plan on spending much time down here so I think that it is achievable. (long term goal but can be split in to two goals 1st being first $1k score then the 2nd being 5 $1k scores in 8 months)
( ) I would also be extremely happy if I could final table a big/bigger tourney – not very likely considering the size of the fields but let’s hope I can run deep in one of them soon
( ) A $5k score – I know that this goal is fair away but I feel that when I move up.
Also a little update I haven’t played as of yet but really have only missed 2 possible days, tomorrow should get a review session done with my coach and then start with my first session of the year.

Also about the 1 HH or training video a day I am currently on 4 or 5 so let’s go with 4. I have been watching zachjackdad on cardrunners now some of the stuff he says I don’t agree with but I feel that he is very good at beating players at the lower levels which is where I am currently at so he videos seems appropriate for me currently. So far watch all three parts of the bigger 27 fiddy videos, a video on maximising big value hands and the battle of chip accumulation (so there was 5 then).

long time no update.

I going to be completely honest i didn't update as it wasn't going to well, i had a decent little score to be up a little on stake 4th in a $11 deep stack for $420 after that everything went down hill on .com besides a 124th finish in the big $11, I had a few semi deep runs on .fr like 106th in the €30 ms high-roller event w€12k up top and 236th in the ms €20 main event 2day event w€18k up top which kind of sucked but beside that fr was pretty similar to how things were going on .com

Overall was down around $700-800 in January which obviously had a negative effect on my mindset.

So to february - It started pretty similar to how January ended which was annoying so all i could really do was just keep putting in volume and trying to apply some off the things i had seen in training videos. Had a decent review session w my backer and felt pretty confident about my game.

Since our last review i WON a $5.40 ko turbo for $2629. I have also final tabled another $5.40 ko turbo my next session went into the final table 5of9 then ran kk into aks for 2of8 instead i had 2bb and busted in 9th for $125. Since i have had a few semi deep runs like a 22nd in the $5.50 Short stack, a few 50-100th and a few 100-600th in very big feild in MTT's like the Big $5.50 the Big $8.80 and the Hot $11.

Funny how much difference 1 score makes I feel very confident in my game i am 100% sure that i am a winning player at my stakes and i am pretty sure a big score and a load of FT's are right around the corner.

Yo guys. Time for an update.
Since the last update i have been pretty BE which is not great but could be worse. Since last update i have had 10 top 50's and 2 FT where i finished 4th and 6th both times i got it in good but couldn't hold. I'm pretty pleased with my game as i still wasn't to confident about my reg speed game after my bink but now i'm pretty comfortable with it as i have had a lot of deep runs just got to ship one of them soon. I have got a little lazy since my bink and not put in a lot of study but i am definitely looking to improve and will be putting in a lot of work over the next few weeks.

I need to find a way to get more volume in, will try to add a few more tables and just register for a little longer over the next week.

gl at the tables.

Ok guy. Time for a long overdue update.

I didn't update because was losing and now i'm back

A little update on where my goals are at -

( ) - Freezeout up to $22, $5r. This is kinda done, I now play all $5r 2r1a and so on, play all $11 FO and down, the Big 22 and the $11r (40k g). So a little bit to go to get to that completed.

( ) - Get to know more people through poker. This has also improved a tiny bit but still a lot of room for improvement so any tourney players want to add me on skype go ahead. Brian.Delaney14

( ) - Watch a training vid or go through a HH everyday. This is a pretty big fail I would say overall. This is 100% going to improve this month. (Aim for
20 HH or training videos this month)

( ) - Get in much better shape. This is a weird one I am losing weight but still can not exercise due to my knee. So I would consider it to be going in the correct direction just still room for improvement.

( )- Get supernova. This was a stupid goal to even set as its kind of impossible for someone who plays only MTT's that are below $22.

As I mentioned I didn't update because I was losing and was down A LOT around $2k which is a lot for my avg buyin $7. TBH I don't think I was playing absolutely horribly but wasn't playing good and didn't have any confidence in my game also I was down the most I have ever been down. That was before on saturday I came 3rd in the 3r (20k g) for $2,136 which clear MU and gave me a tiny cash out which meant a lot more than the money itself. Then on monday I came 3rd in the $11r (40k g) for $4,562. Which gave me a nice cash out and give me a lot more confidence. Sucks not to close them out but extremely happy with how I played deep in both.

Will try to update here 1 time every 2 weeks at least - should be easy if I bink GL all

Yo guys.

A little update played like 5 sessions since last update. Feel like I am playing the best I have played. Have had a lot of decent chances to make FT's but just haven't ran all to good in the money.

SEMI DEEP RUNS - 3 top 50's in $5 2r1a. 38th in $5 1r1a. 72nd in Sunday storm and a load of top 100's. Just need to start turning them into FT's .

graph since last update.

Volume isn't too good but now I will start to up my table count so that I can get a lot more games in, started with a really low amount (6 maximum) because I was terrible and I still have a ****load of leaks and still suck but have improved and now want to put what I have learnt into practice more hopefully will have a lot more deep runs and make a decent amount of FT's.

Gonna create a SCOOP schedule with my backer tomorrow will post it in here. Hopefully i will have a few decent sweats super excited for this series. Will obv bump thread if i make it deep in anything .

Gl at the tables.
