Blubb Blubb, Everyone
Who am I?
I am Issy and I want to start a bankroll challenge. I am 23, from Holland and a uni student working on the last 6 months stretch of my study, I’ll have a crazy amount of downtime between now and September, so I need a dandy little challenge. I am for all intents and purpose a fish. When it comes to poker, I can’t say I’ve ever beaten it. I got lucky with variance a few times, but my game is ****. If I succeed, it will be the first time I’ll have 5 figures on my poker account and only the second time on my savings account. But enough about me, let’s get to the challenge.
The Challenge:
I want to turn $58.30 into $10,000 on Partypoker by August 31st. I will do so by mostly playing 6-max cash games, with occasional tournaments and sit and go’s for variation. I will skip 2NL and start short stacking at 5NL. I’ll play either 1-2 tables of fast forward or 4 tables of regular 6max.
Bankroll Management:
I will start out short stacking 0.02/0.05 with 50$ which would give me 20 BI. As I move up, I will increase the Bankroll requirement as I presume the players get better and the games tougher. I will take shots with short stacks. That way I can reduce the risk just a little and still get the necessary hands at the higher stake to improve and move up. I know it is highly unlikely that I’ll reach 100NL but below is my “planned” BRM requirements per stake. For tourney's and SNG’s it’ll be 50x BI.
My “Strategy”
Again, I am a fish, so this might seem ridiculous to some of you, but yes this is my thinking. I’ll use PokerSnowie’s opening range and I’ll try not to play too aggressive unless I have something and very few bluffs. As I get more hands on my opponents, and the necessary experience I’ll try to exploit them here and there, but as I said before I am a fish. So, it is to be seen how far my exploitation will go. I will try to analyse ALL of my hands in the first couple of days, the trickiest ones I’ll feed to my PokerSnowie trial. Later on, as the number of hands grows into the thousands, I’ll filter out the most obvious ones and only analyse the important hands.
The only tools I’ll will be using are Pokersnowie (Trial and Preflop Advisor) and a Holdem Manager 2 trial.
Anti-Tilt:
I will try to limit sessions to bursts of max 45 minutes with a timer. I think this will allow me to concentration on the task at hand and not doing anything stupid. As I move up I might do away with this, but early on I will try to follow this. In my experience people focus best for up to 45 minutes after which they lose productivity. This will also reduce tilt, I also intend to take longer breaks after 4 BI+ loses. I also won’t drink or smoke anything while playing.
Extra
I would ideally like to play a minimum of 4 hours a day spread out over various smaller sessions. With a part of that time being dedicated to studying.
Tho I also understand with my position and experience $0.00 is closer than $10.000
I already started today and I will post an update tomorrow, once I reach 1000 hands, Wish me luck!
