With just over a month to go until the start of the WCOOP on Pokerstars, I’ve decided to take on a poker challenge for the month of August. The goal is to turn $100 into $10,000 by the end of the month playing sit-and-go and multi-table tournaments. I realize I’m aiming pretty high here, but I wanted to take on a real challenge and attempt to do something awesome.

To provide a bit of context about me, I started playing online poker when I was 17 with an initial deposit of $100. Over the years I’ve done fairly well playing cash games and sit-and go’s but wouldn’t really call it a huge success story just yet. I’m also an active investor in the financial markets and more recently started to gain some traction playing daily fantasy sports. The purpose of this challenge is to really push myself and see if I can take the next step. If successful, my winnings for the month will go towards WCOOP buy-ins in September where I can hopefully make my mark on the game.

I’m new to the Pocket 2’s community and this is my first post but it definitely won’t be my last. I’ve found it pretty incredible just reading the wide range of documented poker challenges that have been successful whether they are for $1 million+ or microstakes. This forum presents a great opportunity for me to hold myself accountable for my goals and to strive to be an elite player. I’ll be sure to update my progress regularly and hopefully August goes down in the books as a great month. Thanks for reading!

Got off to a pretty soft start, finishing the first day with a profit of just $26.28 playing $7 single table sng's and the fifty50 games. Only got in about 6 hours today so will definitely need to ramp up playing time to have a realistic shot at meeting my target.

Midway through Day 3 and the account is at $326.27. I don't usually grind on Sundays so I'll probably call it in early for the day. Still a long way from meeting my goal but the last few days have definitely been a step in the right direction. Here are my stats so far:

Had a pretty solid day in the black, up around $200 which bumps the account to $528.93. Here's the chart for the last 4 days:

Day 6 and finally breached the 1k mark! Account now sits at $1,045.97 after 210 sng's played. Ran into some variance over the past 2 days which explains the choppy looking graph over the last 40 or so games played. Missed cashing a bunch of sng's in a row losing hands like AA and two paired AK to stuff like 5-6 suited J-10 off but grinded through it to finish well in the black.

Decided to take a shot at some MTT's for the first time this month and was met with mixed results. Grinding hyper-turbo sng's made up for it though, and I'm ending off Day 7 with $1,216.33. Even though I was profitable, I don't feel like I played a great game today and will have to spend time tonight reviewing some of the hands.

Playing poker while hungover really isn't the greatest idea. Never really gained any traction today and booked my first losing day for this challenge. Lost about $60 to bring the account down to $1,153.72. Back for more tomorrow

Been a few days since my last post. This past week has been a goldmine for fantasy sports and I couldn't help but get sidetracked. Played pretty sporadically leading up to the halfway point. Account now sits at $1,192.16. Looking to go on a bender next week and start mixing in more MTT's along with the sng's.

With $100 I started playing $7 sng's. Because its an aggressive challenge for the month, I was similarly pretty aggressive with bankroll management. Moved up to $15 sng's when I had around $250 and $30 sng's around $600. Good luck with whatever you end up doing!

I'm a little disappointed in myself because I feel as if my head isn't in the right place at the moment. After 21 days, the challenge bankroll is at $1,378.83. I'm going to end this poker goal after three weeks and get my ***** together before the WCOOP next month. Thanks to everyone who wished me good luck.
