An apartment, a cabin and my dream van: my dream life An apartment, a cabin and my dream van: my dream life

10-12-2020 , 09:25 AM
An apartment in Lisbon, a cozy cabin somewhere in the mountains of Portugal and my camper van fixed up just as I dream to have it.

Six months of the year or so spent living out of the apartment in Lisbon, two months or so in the cabin, and four or so living out of my van, going around Europe. The latter I have been doing for the past two years, since getting my drivers license in October 2018.

A super cozy apartment with one bedroom and one living room. Have the bedroom be as inviting as possibly can, as an oasis taken from India, to land in and make love for hours on end with my lover. Six months or so starting off most mornings with morning sex, followed by working on what is important during the day, and see friends at night. Doing sports pretty much daily, in different forms: climbing, running, swimming, playing football with friends. Eating well, going around town with my longboard, and helping out at the homeless shelter. Six months out of the year or so.

An equally cozy cabin in the mountains of Portugal. Live a simple life without Internet. With my lover, a friend or friends, a traveler visiting, or at times by myself. Sit infront of the fire, have long and deep talks, meditate for hours, take long walks, read and write a lot. Help out in the area when a neighbour needs help, be an integral part of the community. To offer guidance in meditation to visitors who look to wind down. A couple of months out of the year or so.

The rest of the year spent traveling in my camper van. Go to Rainbow Gatherings and be of great help to the community, vipassana retreats, volunteer at festivals, hike in the mountains, spend time in cities. Make friends wherever I go. Have the van set-up exactly as I dream to have it, with all the equipment to go with it. Travel with a lover, or sometims have a friend come along, or go at it by myself.

As I envision my dream life, this what I keep coming back to. My existance if I was to design it just the way I wanted it. This is my future. The apartment: about two to three hundred thousand. The cabin: fifty to a hundred thousand. Having the van just as I want it: ten K would be plenty enough. Four hundred thousand, and I can go buy the cabin, fix the van there, and get the apartment. But let’s round it up to have some capital getting started with my dream life: let’s get $500,000 together. And we can invest into a new chapter of my life then: get a passive income going.

How do I get to $500,000? Is it through poker? We’ll have to wait and see, won’t we. Binking a $50 spin and we’d be done, to get started with the new life. My bankroll is at $230 at the time of writing, after an initial deposit of $10.

Why through poker?
Poker has been an interest of mine ever since 2012 or so, with a dream of making it coming back again and again, to soon be dropped again. I am in Stockholm, Sweden at the moment, writing this in a national park outside of town, where I am taking a few days to fast and re-set my brain (water fasting is amazing for this, am about 40 hours in or so at the time of writing). During a long walk today I reflected on what it is that has me being drawn back in, again and again, to the game. I came up with a few points, as to why I would like to make it in poker, once and for all. By making it I mean to be a winning player and make enough money to sustain myself.

1) To prove to myself that I can beat the strategic side. In High School, when I was younger, I viewed myself as intelligent and that it was quite clear that I would make my path acdemically. Instead, I chose to travel extensively, and in doing so, I sacrifised growing intellectively. Atleast in terms of the sort of thinking that is necessary in poker, I believe, the logical side to oneself. I want to prove to myself that I have what it takes.

2) Winning would mean I would have to step up my mental game. For the most part when I play, my focus is to not lose. It’s a mentality I see that I have with most things in life. When I go to a social event, my hope is that I won’t be too anxious. If I like a girl, my hope is that she won’t reject me. Whatever I go into, my focus is to not lose. This mindset becomes very obvious when I play poker, as when I register for a spin and go the fear of my bankroll getting smaller is sort of where my focus is. For the most part. By focusing on becoming a winning player at the $50 level, I hope to transform this mindet, and that it shows in every aspect of my life.

3) Obviously, the money as well. The freedom in making money this way.
The fifty level is an amazing goal to aim at. Then, there is always the oppurtunity to bink one that will have me reach my goal. And just being a winning player at that level would mean I’d be making a living from it, and that I’d have reached that goal. Until then, let’s move up the limits, see the bankroll not as money per se but as a tool to reach that goal of $500,000. Unless I start making a seriously hourly that is, and that it makes sense to drop making money outside of poker. Until then, let’s have some fun along the way.
