Hey everyone, long time lurker, first time poster here.
First a few Details about myself.
34y, m, from Austria.
Started playing poker, like so many people, around the boom in 2003.
Read and studied all the oldschool stuff - Harrington, Brunson, and some, at the time, newer cashgame books which gave a good foundation of pot odds, positional play, spr, etc. Concepts like floating were the newest and hottest ****.
Got my first few chipsets through some promotions pokersites were running back then.
Bought pokertracker and grinded hundreds of thousands of hands in micros to some decent success.
Visited 2+2 frequently, browsing all the different poker topics, including the monthly high stakes thread (Durrr 🤯👌
Kept playing some homegames with friends over the years, but stopped playing online as it just felt like a grind and wasnt fun anymore.
So my poker knowledge is pretty much 20 years old.
I’m just playing for fun, as i have a steady income.
This thread is for discussing some spots i don’t really feel comfortable any more.
Handz:
#1: Qc8c
Felt lost the whole hand, except the river. No reads/stats on V.
After reviewing the hand, the biggest mistake was calling preflop imho.
Even getting over 2:1 preflop, calling with a suited semi-connected queen oop seems like -EV to me.
Postflop any other way to play this oop?
Hit middle pair on the flop, turned a flush draw to go along with it, made pretty concealed trips on the river (which 8 calls on the turn? - so i felt like a big bet (pretty much every draw missed) would get looked up by any king.
#2: KsKc
V overcalled the preflop raise in the third blind, seemed competent, was sitting with a full stack, so i guess his BB calling range consists of many suited connectors and small pocket pairs.
Was really considering folding on the flop, as a potsized bet + raise by V over 500BBs deep didnt seem so inviting. How do we play if V bets the turn with ½ pot, full pot? I’d most likely fold to further aggression.
#3: 5s5d
Felt like missed value after seeing Vs hand.
Is it viable to b/f half pot on this rivercard? Really didnt want to face a raise, so i just cowardly checked.
#4: AdJd
Just a linecheck, playable this way, or to weak?
#5: 6s6c
Felt pretty lost and weak tight again in this hand.
No real infos on V, wasn't playing to many hands, played pretty tight as far as i can remember.
Was thinking about raising the flop, but really didnt want to get shoved on, as V was betting into 2 players, so i took the card in position.
Turn doesn't change much, and as i didnt want to call a river bet, i just let it go.
#6: AcKc
3 bet pot oop.
Turn check felt wrong, but how do you continue if you bet the turn and get raised against unknown?
#7: Ac4c
Loose open with the suited ace utg, called the 3 bet because of position, would have folded against a 3 bet in position.
On this flop texture i feel like my range is way ahead of the 3 betters.
#8: 6s6c
Preflop i dont really like raising middling pairs out of the SB and playing a big pot oop, so just the complete. Rest standard?
Appreciate all remarks & comments about the plays, betsizes, etc..
