Can't wait for your graphs tomorrow/day after!
Yeah watching the fish hurt my equity is more tilting than getting sucked out on tbh, because getting sucked out on is such a big part of the game where stacks are flying around.

Another example would be when a loose fish has all the chips, hero is middle stack and other play is a nitty shortstack. Nitty shortsatck min raises (the guy hasn't done that all game), hero folds and bigstack fish calls and calls down 3 streets with bottom pair and puts the shortstack right back in the game instead of just folding for once in his life grrrrr.

For my graph, no it's not gonna be pretty. I'm up for the month, but it started off very swingy and very break-even towards the end. But I've been reviewing my play, and it seems ok, so that's just the nature of the game I suppose...

God I'm tilted by even reading that. Yelling at your screen helps a lot!
As does drinking I guess but i'm trying to cut back (change of lifestyle).

Any winning month is fine!

Just had the most brutal session ever in terms of getting raped by the deck and variance. It was getting so ridiculous at the end, I just had to stop playing. Even more tilting was seeing the fish making some terrible plays and being chip leaders on nearly all my tables.

17 games played, ITM in just 5 of them and down 5 buyins.

I was getting my money in good so many times but my hands just wouldn't hold.

Normally, in a vacuum, these hands wouldn't be a big deal, but I wasn't even winning my coinflips either or winning my fair share of suck outs, so all that together made for a sick session.

So I played a small 7 game session, got ITM in 3 of them and won a buyin. After my recent run bad, I started the day reviewing my game and watching a training video and I 'm glad I did cos the training vid showed a session where hero did everything right but just couldn't win or get the better of the fish with all the chips. The guy explained that sometimes that'll happen - that you'll play some tourneys and you won't even win a single hand. I already knew that was the case, but it's nice to hear it from a proven winning player.

                I still can't win an all-in as a 70/30 favourite though. Today, my 55 < A4, 99 < A6 and my AK < A2

I played well today though - making some good calls on the bubble for all my chips and being well ahead of villains range.

I'll post up my February results tomorrow.

So the second month of the challenge is over and it's time to post the results and graph:

                Games played: 292
                ITM: 39.7%
                ROI: 4.5%

                Winnings: €55.09
                Battle of planets bonuses: +€8
                Other bonuses: +€25.78

                Total poker earnings: +€88.87

Bankroll as of 31st January: €589.87

Here were my goals for February:

                Goals for February:

[ ] Play 400 games (fail - I kinda got a bit distracted and lost confidence)
                [/] Win 2 BOP bonuses (I won 1 bonus for €8)
[X] When ITM, get 1st place > 40% of the time (I achieved 44.8 % I did this by being more aggro when HU )
[X] Drink beer (I passed this one with flying colours )

I am a bit disappointed with the month of February. It started off great (see start of graph) and then when I hit that first downswing, I didn't handle it very well. I lost confidence, didn't play much and even dropped back down to the €3 games. If I 'm going to make a success of playing these games, I need to improve my mindset for handling variance, work on my game and play through it rather than dropping down. It's not as though I'm not rolled for the €5 games.

Towards the end of the month, I felt I was playing fine, but I was getting hit hard by the deck and it was a case of 1 step forward, 2 steps back, 2 steps forward, 1 step back and rinse and repeat. In other words, break even in terms of my results. Pretty frustrating to be breaking even when there are so many fish on the tables.

I still feel a big weakness of mine is the mid game of blinds 25/50 - 50/100 when you have start opening up your game, but not yet in push/fold mode. This is particularly tough when there are loose fish to my left.

                Year to date graph

                Goals for March:

                [ ] Play 400 games
                [ ] Win 2 BOP bonuses
                [ ] When ITM, get 1st place > 40% of the time
[ ] Review each session and work on game every day
[ ] Grow a pair and play through the variance with a good mindset
                [ ] Drink beer

Played 10 games today, ITM in 5 of them and up a buy-in. Note to self - don't try to bluff fish who are level 1 thinkers and will call down with bottom pair lol.

Session could have been better, but I'll take any profit atm while I work on getting my mojo back.

Reviewed yesterdays session and watched a vid to get into the winning frame of mind.

Followed up with 11 games, ITM in 5 of them and a profit of 4 buyins. It's been a while since I've finished a session up multiple buyins so its a bit of confidence boost tbh. Plenty of fish on the tables today and in a few cases on the bubble, I could just fold and let the other 2 donks go at it.

It's Saturday night so time for a beer

15 games played, ITM in just 4 of them and down a couple of buyins. Quite a few coolers today vs fish like I have KK in UTG, raise it up, get called by drooler. I cbet a potsized bet on a 89T flop, villain calls. 9 on the turn, I shove and of course he snaps with his A9... Nice call on the flop.... Just loads of spots like that.

I'm getting a bit frustrated tbh with some of the ******ed play that I see is getting rewarded. It's as though all the droolers are the the huge chip leaders on all my tables at the moment and then they call you really wide and bink their 40/60 or whatever and think they're a ****ing genius.

                Meh, time for a beer

Frustrating as hell as this is in the short-term I'm sure you can see the long-term benefits in this reinforcing Villain's bad play. Keep plugging away....

lol yeah this is all on ps.fr

You're right of course - Lots of fish and ******ed play is what we want - I just get a bit frustrated sometimes when I have one of those sessions where their ******ed play seems to get rewarded on every single tourney I'm playing in.

Much better session today. Tiny session cos I've got a bit of a headache. 4 games played and ITM in all 4 of them for a tidy 5 buyin profit.

Here's the lol hand of the day:

This was the first hand I had played. lol at my 4xbb open. obv this is exploitable vs thinking opponents, but this was just a table of droolers and I was gonna make them pay full price to play with their trash hands. lol, look at what the BB donk shoves with on the flop. If CO had got there with his flush, I think I would have punched something.

                WP droolers

11 games played, ITM in 4 of them and finished the session break-even.

I think I played ok, but I lost a few all-ins in critical spots. A lot of the games were pretty tight passive so often effective stacks were just ~15bb with 5 players left which makes things pretty tricky especially when the fish are still limping ahead of you.....

Fun hand vs a serial limper.

I knew he had an Ace, hence the check on the flop to let him catch up and the lead on the turn. His raise is just lol I'm never calling with worse there. Thanks for letting me see the flop with ATC and then paying me off.

                    9 games played and ITM in 4 of them (2x 1st and 2x 2nd) and a 2 buyin profit.

Not really much to say except I was pretty happy how I adjusted to an aggrotard in one of my last games of the day. He was raising almost every hand preflop and was one of those players that liked to take every pot down. I defended my blind in one spot and checkraised all-in to his cbet with TPGK. Then a few hands later, I raised in late position with AQo - I whiffed the flop and he donked into me and I had to fold. Same thing a few hands later except I had AJo and he donked 2 thirds pot and I just came over the top all-in with my Ace high and then showed when he folded.

Predictably he busted a few hands later, no doubt on mega tilt lol. Goes to show that there is a bit of metagame in these games versus some villains and its not just playing your cards. You have to adjust and draw a line in the sand vs players like this otherwise you're getting exploited.

14 games played and down a buyin and a half. Session started off well and then just couldn't win a hand in the middle while the fish were winning huge pots with bottom pair etc...

At one point I was down 5 buyins and then managed to win my last 2 games. It was another day of losing quite a few 70/30s and 80/20s

Meh, it happens - Time for a beer

Just can't win a session recently - It's getting ridiculous.

17 games played today - ITM in 6 of them and down 4 buyins. There's one reg in particular who's been on a lot of my tables recently and he's running like Jesus and binking everything, it's getting silly lol. Every time I have a pair vs his Ax, he hits an Ace ldo and whenever it's the other way round, I brick. Even vs other players, he's running hotter than the sun. Like shoving T6o and hitting his straight etc etc WTF

I made some great +EV calls today too and lost them all FFS

Meh, getting a bit frustrated with it tbh

Yeah, it's sick sometimes. I'm just treading water with my BR atm.

I went through and reviewed my session and all my shoves and calls were standard. I ran 8 buyins below $EV last session (should have been up 4 bi's) Like you said, on the bubble in particular the difference between winning and losing just one all-in is HUGE in terms of $$$ Lose more than 1 in several tournaments and that alone can make for a significant losing session.

                      GL in your 18mans

Just played a quick 5 game session, got ITM in 3 of them (2x 1st and 1x 2nd) and made a profit of 4 buyins and so won all of yesterdays losses back in a third of the time lol. Crazy game.....

Lots of loose weekend players (aka fish) so I just played uber tight until push fold. I didn't even bother trying to steal blinds with marginal hands in the mid blinds levels cos these fish are never folding anything. In some of the games, the first hand I played was to shove lol. It seemed to work out though.

So since last time, I won a few buy-ins and then lost a load today.

I played 29 games and lost 9 buy-ins. It's gettin ridiculous when I get my chips in as a 70% favourite - ie dominating villain, he just binks his 3 outer every time...

In fact, its worse than that, not only does the villain bink his 3 outer once, but he binks it TWICE for trips:

So I got some food (kebab with chilli sauce ftw) and came back and played a few more games.

Played 9, got ITM in 4 of them and ended up the day with a 2 buyin profit so managed to turn things a bit after the frustrating start. I think I need to do that a bit more often - have a break in the middle of a session especially if I feel myself tilting a bit.

                                  Right, time for that beer

Just a quick post to say I'm still playing.

I'm break-even so far for the month which is pretty frustrating tbh but could be worse.

I'm running below allin EV as you probably guessed by my recent posts, but I think there are maybe other spots when I am not adjusting optimally to my opponents. I'm playing too timidly in some spots and not small ball enought in other spots. My HU game also needs work.

I've been watching a few training vids over the last few days and reviewing my sessions and trying to force myself to think a bit longer before clicking teh buttons when ingame.

cliffs: working on my game to keep confidence up.
