This thread is a follow up from my previous thread called: 5NL rec to 50NL reg.
I started around 2.5 months ago with $50 and ran it up to a peak of around $5800. Then at the end I started losing quite a bit at 100NL which now puts my BR at $3000.
This was my overall graph from 5nl through 100nl:

This 28 BI downswing at the end is forcing me to play 50NL for a bit more which is not ideal but its ok.

Last challenge I had a brm of 25-30 BI's which I think is a bit to aggressive so I'll be taking my next shot at 100NL when I hit $4000.

You can expect a lot of volume in this thread and hopefully some winning graphs, considering my last winning day way 30k hand ago I'm not on top of my confidence haha.

First update will either be tonight or tomorrow!

Hope you guys enjoy

Sorry to hear about your DS, do you feel like it was just variance or you also started ****ing up?

It's important to reflect and look at it hand for hand. 28bi is certainly not out of the ordinary (my worst was 32 or something, but I didn't realize how tilted I really was and i'm sure it would've been quite a bit less had I played at least my b-game throughout the swong).

Thanks, I think its always a combination of running bad+playing bad. Also have to take in consideration that my winrate isnt high on its own, which means swings are bigger. Also have a high std dev, guessing recipe for disaster right haha

Probably better to be on the safe side, but I think 40 is fine aswell if you have the discipline to move down when it gets critical

Thank you all!

Just finished playing my night session:
Overall I didnt play to great, but I ran really hot with the all in situations, which lead to a pretty decent profit afterall.
This is actually my first winning day again after 4 losing days.
Also bought pokersnowie, hopefully I will find it useful, just need to get used to a program like that I guess. Finding it pretty hard to use effectively atm, but I think thats just a matter of time.

Here is a pretty interesting hand of today against an interesting player:

PokerStars Zoom No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Converted at http://handhistoryconverter.com/

Button ($60)
SB ($69.46)
BB ($130.03)
UTG ($107.49)
Hero (MP) ($53.87)
CO ($67.51)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 7, 8
1 fold, Hero raises to $1.24, 1 fold, Button raises to $4.50, 2 folds, Hero calls $3.26

Flop: ($9.75) Q, 7, 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $3.24, Hero raises to $12, Button calls $8.76

Turn: ($33.75) A (2 players)
Hero bets $13.47, Button calls $13.47

River: ($60.69) J (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $30.03 (All-In), Hero calls $23.90 (All-In)

Total pot: $108.49 | Rake: $2

Results:
Spoiler:

Button had 5, 2 (high card, Ace).
Hero had 7, 8 (two pair, eights and sevens).
Outcome: Hero won $106.49

I would obviously not have called river against a normal player btw.

Bankroll is currently at $3158.49

Thanks guys!

This is the last ****ty update you will see here, fromnow on it will be better

The past few days I was really demotivated and tired while playing, which is probably because of the fact that I had to move down stakes.
I didn't feel like I had any idea what I was doing and felt like I was just clicking buttons.

So I was thinking of a solution to get myself motivated again. I feel like I play alot of hands when I'm having a **** session. Kind of reversed winners tilt I guess. Lets say I have 60% winning sessions ( just a made up number) and 40% losing sessions. The fact that I play so much when losing, sometimes up to 9k hands a day, results in having huge losing days. And the winning days being just standard.
I feel like this is a big leak of mine.

So I have made myself a schedule where I think I tackle this problem pretty well.
-I will be playing 2000 hands everyday.
-After the 2000 hands I will check results and some big hands.
-Whenever I have lost over 5 BI in these 2000 hands I'll call it a day and won't allow myself to play anymore hands.
-Whenever I feel like I'm playing well and I'm winning I can obviously play as much as i want to.

I know I perform best when I set myself a clear path. And I feel like this is most +EV.

This is my graph since last update:

As you can see the last around 1000 hands were 2 tabling 100NL, which I obviously should not have done, and wont do again in the future

Bankroll is at $2501.95

Going to play my 2000 hands now and see how it goes. I'm excited again for the first time in a while atleast

Thanks guys! I play on stars.

Another pretty ****ty day on the fields, starting to drive me nuts...
I dont know what changed, from when I was winning to this ****ing 3.5k downswing or whatever. I don't think I have changed anything major in my play. Just nothing is working atm and I feel like I run like ****. But is that even possible for like 35k hands straight. I dont know but I really need to turn this **** around asap.

BR is at $2325

As a guy who has been on somewhat of a downswing for the last 50k hands I can say stuff like this can happen. You can however reduce the amount you are losing that's something certain so try going over the hands you are playing and spots you are unsure of. Poker variance is just sick. There are people breaking even over 100k hand sample or slightly losing although they are overall winning like 6bb/100 at mid stakes.

Yes for sure, variance is a *****

TodayI had my first good day again in a long while which I'm extremely happy about. A downswing always gets into my head, I guess I don't have enough poker experience yet to just see them as a part of the game.
Day started off pretty well running a lot above ev, which actually always tilts me, because I just think I'm super lucky and bad when I run above ev. Thats obviously a ridiculous thing to think but it happens to me all the time. So after that I dropped a few buyins probably had $2100 BR at the lowest point and I said to myself if I drop below 2000 I'd take a break for a few days. But I went on a nice upswing after that and managed to book a $450 profit. Super happy with that obviously.

Just finished another day of playing.
Played 2 tables for the entire day, just wanted to try it. Don't really feel like it improved or decreased my game. But I think I'll do it again tomorrow just to see if it makes me more aware of the moves I make etc.
Also played like 700 hand of 100NL today which went completely breakeven. +1BI EV.
50 NL was also just about breakeven.

Bankroll is at $2811.00

Thanks, I recognise your name haha. I play a mix of 50 and 100

Here is an update on the past 2 days.
Haven't really been able to get anything going so far.
Went down quite a few buyins, but I managed to get back to around where I was 2 days ago, so thats nice.
Hopefully the graph will go up from here onwards

Also I did hit this beauty:

2nd time I hit a $100.

Bankroll is at $3365.55
